I resolved this by uninstalling and re-installing the standby Portal. I made sure to not stop the service on the Primary service before I did this.

I have recently upgraded from 10.8.1 to 10.9.1 by following the prescribed workflow that is in Esri's documentation. The Portal site nodes are PS01 and PS02. The upgrade completed successfully, however the issue is that the standby portal index is chronically out of sync. It doesn't matter if it's PS01 or PS02, if either of these machines is the standby machine it is out sync. My content cannot be seen from the web adaptor URL, however if I hit the full qualified domain name of the primary portal at the time, I can see content. If hit the the standby FQDN, I cannot see content. I have tried to re-index, reconfigure, etc, multiple times, to no avail. What can be done to resolve this? Furthermore, how is the Portal index shared between two machines? Seems like this is not truly an active-standby deployment if the WA URL is still subject to failure if one machine is out of sync. Can anybody provide any insight?

I was able to resolve the issue, I still do not know the root cause of why that page is requesting HTTP. However, to resolve it I simply added a new listener on port 80 and redirected to my HTTPS target group on the load balancer.

The Environment: I have recently upgraded from 10.9 to 10.9.1 in AWS. I have a highly available Portal fronted by an application load balancer. The SSL certificates are applied from AWS Certificate Manager. Windows 2019 m5a.xlarges, Portal patched. The Question: How can I resolve the ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED error that is being thrown which is preventing me from logging in successfully? The Issue: When I hit https://gis.mydomain.org/portal the page opens just fine and I am prompted for my login. When I login I get an ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED and page cannot be reached error. After further investigation, it appears as if the request to the organization page is using HTTP. When I enter the URL into the browser again, I am successfully logged in from that previous attempt, and everything in the console looks copasetic. What I have tried: Creating a new application load balancer, removing web application firewall in AWS, rolling back to a previous state of web servers with web adaptors, opening in incognito, flushing DNS, etc, etc.

Ah, I misunderstood. I believe that resource is required. Especially when you start to you use things like oAuth2 and registering apps, the app needs to be able to send requests to the sharing site to authenticate against Portal. I could be wrong in my thinking, but those are my 2 cents.

Hi Nicholas, What you are referring to is the ArcGIS Portal Directory, check the link below, it appears as if you can restrict access to it. https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/administer/windows/disabling-the-arcgis-portal-directory.htm

Hi Emily, I agree with Reese. I would personally migrate the content using ago-assistant or Python API for ArcGIS. I would first start with an inventory and the practicality of using WebGISDR to move your content. The time to create a full backup of ~40 gigs was 37 hours in 10.8.1. I do not know how stable webgisdr is between two versions of Enterprise and the implications that it might have when importing into your 10.8.1 site. I know one for sure advantage of republishing content is the availability of dedicated or shared instance pools when Publishing from ArcGIS Pro. I would imagine if you use WebGISDR to restore map services then you will bring over the default settings in 10.6.1.

Hi - I am using an AMI located from The ArcGIS Enterprise AMIs—ArcGIS Enterprise in the cloud | Documentation for ArcGIS Enterprise to configure Portal. Several thing have been a bit buggy in the configuration. This is the AMI that is being used -Esri ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1 on Ubuntu (Jul 2020) 1. When running createportal.sh - I received a text cannot be null error - I looked in the logs and did not see much around this. createportal exited. 2. I was able to browse to /portaladmin in my browser and use createNewSite. I started createNewSite from the browser and it ran all night to no avail. 3. Hi - I am working with the JSON below. I would like to use data.last_known_position.geometry.coordinates as my X and Y. The goal is to send the JSON to a stream service. I am using the connector poll and external website for JSON. I have referenced this thread here Parse JSON location data from array , to no avail. My logs indicate that the fields data.last_known_position.geometry.coordinates[0] and data.last_known_position.geometry.coordinates[1] do no exist which would construct the geometry. When I select "Create a GeoEvent Definition" for my input, the definition that is created contains many cardinality for the coordinates array. How can I get the values from data.last_known_position.geometry.coordinates to create my geometry? {

Hi Hilary, I am seeing other content that is synced such as maps. The layer is a point feature layer with 3071 points. I do see the item in Enterprise referencing back to ArcGIS Online. Do I need to configure a data store to copy data over and use a hosting server? I am currently only using Portal with a Federated ArcGIS Server site that is not a data store. Hi Jill Edstrom, Unfortunately the join site utility will not work because the new machine is a Linux OS and the previous deployment is Windows. I cannot use webgisdr because it is a standalone ArcGIS Server site without Portal. I plan to federated a new portal with the new Linux AGS machine. I think due to the complexity of this migration between operating systems that there is not an out of the box ArcGIS Enterprise solution that can elegantly handle this. Right now I am considering what method will cause the least amount of data loss. The URL switch over happens at the load balancer level, so that is not a big deal. Once the site health check passes server will start consuming data. However the data loss will occur prior to the LB URL switch, when I have to move feature classes. So far my workflow is: 1.Run an append for all feature classes in DB on new empty schemas in RDS. 2. Publish services to temporary URL 3. Register prod url with new load balancer of linux machine 4.Identify deltas from data migration and run update cursor or copy data. There are many moving pieces, but based on the documentation noting that there really isn't any sort of combining OS, this might be the best bet.

I want to move a ArcGIS Server from one machine to another and resource all of the services to a new database. 1. I have my new services already published under a new hosted record in AWS Route 53 called newarcgis.mybiz.io. These services are referencing a new database as well, PGSQL RDS. 2. My current prod services are published and hosted under arcgis.mybiz.io. Data is continuously coming into arcgis.mybiz.io services and database, which is SQL Server on an EC2 machine. 3. newarcgis.mybiz.io is an Ubuntu installation of 10.6 and arcgis.mybiz.io is Windows, also 10.6 Can I use the join site utility in manager to elegantly handle a switch over? the hosted record refers to the application load balancer. What are other ways that I can accomplish this task with zero downtime and data loss?
