To answer my own question, it was a corrupt web adapter installation. I am now able to administer ArcGIS Server through the web adaptor url using windows domain authentication. Or I should say that I was last week, came in on Monday and now we are not able to. Server Manager throws the error "Unauthorized Access:You are not authorized to access this application. Please contact your administrator." In Catalog, trying to access ArcGIS server throws: "Token-based authentication failure." or "The server response took too long" We are not using tokens and when you hit http://<servername>/arcgis/rest/services it shows that I am logged in as a local windows domain user? We have an environment with the following configuration: - Web Server with IIS / Web Adaptor 10.2.2 - GIS Server - ArcGIS Server 10.2.2 - Web Adaptor 10.2.2 - Integrated Windows Authentication - Roles are managed by ArcGIS Server. Role type: Administrators - Web Tier Authentication - IIS enabled Windows Auth.

Yes, that works. *Follow Stephanie's post #6 if using web tier, also in IIS Manager select your arcgis site then authentication to: In Catalog I made an arcgis server admin connection as localhost/arcgis using local authentication and am now able to publish services.

I am having the same issue with 10.2.2 using Web Tier Auth enabled security. I get the same errors as noted above when trying to publish with local admin or publisher accounts. I can publish just fine with my primary site admin account for AGS. Using the web adaptor URL to publish does not work for me. The same error results.

Whether I check the "Enable administrative access to your site through the Web Adaptor" or not I am forced to administer ArcGIS server through :6080. Reading this post it sounds like the most secure thing to do. Our network is tightly secured, so I am wondering if that's why it will not work for me and if others are able to get this to work and access ArcGIS Server Manager using the web adaptor. When I try to log on through the web adaptor it just hangs.

I am with J.Quinn and roni0512 on this one. I have copied all of the ArcGIS directories noted below plus accompanying .mxds from server A to B. The services are read on server B but are not able to be started. In ArcCatalog I get the error message: ERROR: Service failed to start,
Machine: myServer.COM [null] In ArcGIS (AGS) Server Manager, there are even thumbnails of the services but the start button is grayed out at Status reads "Stopping..." I then restarted ArcGIS Server in IIS, and Status still reads "Stopping..." I did NOT copy .site from the directories listed below. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- update: I repeated the process, this time stopping AGS in IIS first, then copied all of the directories plus .site and my services show up again, this time status is "Started" and all of the service URL's are there as REST endpoints but pinging the URL you get the error: Error: Error handling service request : 0x80070005 - Code: 500 When trying to add a service to ArcMap I get the Warning: Could not add the specified data object to the map. Could not connect to the Map Server.

Using the Viewer for Flex, I want to deploy a custom widget to generate a .pdf report from an Identify Result or Address Search Result . I want the user to be able to search by address, or identify an x, y point on a map, return all of the operational layers this x,y intersects. Then make a call to an xml or JSON which contains text blocks and populate a .pdf. The operational layers would be indexed by a number that would link the results and make the call to these text blocks (that are in an .xml, or JSON format). We have thought about using Python to generate the report, but unsure of how to link the Result to Python. Can someone point to the right class in the flex api to begin building the code?

If you don't specify a fixed state, it will print the extent of the map ... and thus you are likely to see the scale being a bit different. Right, but these are major differences. If I'm at a scale of 1:144,449 the print output is 1:124,135. If I'm at 1:9,028 print output is 1:7758. This seems random and not really an adequate representation of the map the user is looking at on screen. If you check the "Use this scale" AND specify a fixed scale, e.g. 1:50000, then that is the scale that will be used. If you check the "Use this scale" AND empty the scale to use, then it will use the current scale of whatever scale/zoom you are at. I think this is the functionality you are asking for. You are correct, but how does the user know to empty the scale. This is not intuitive. How about the legend outputs being inconsistent? Still a vast improvement over printing at 10.0, but still looks like 10.1 printing services need some improvement. SP2?

I am testing 10.1 PrintService (both the default and custom Export Web Map Task) with the Flexviewer 3.0 Print Widget. When printing, if the user does not check ??use this scale? box in the Flex Print Widget, it will print out a map at slightly larger scale, one that doesn??t match any of the standard ArcGIS Online/ Bing Maps/ Google Maps scales and seems arbitrary. If you click ??use this scale? then zoom in and out the scale does not automatically change, and will print at fixed scale even though the user is zoomed in. So say a user is zoomed in at 1:36,112 and the ??use this scale? is checked at 577791, the output map is nothing like what the user is looking at on the screen. This is confusing to the user. Is this a known issue? Also, the legend output are inconsistent. Sometimes the print out a nice graphic of the legend, other times the graphic is barely legible.

I can query my REST endpoint fine and get a result back, but in my application I get the error above?

I do not want a splash page to open when the user click's the "About" tab in the Flexviewer 2.5. Instead, I want to replace it with a simple hyperlink, so that when the user click's the "About" tab in opens a website in another window. Thanks for any help! Paul

Paul, It should be just a change in the UIManager and nothing in the DetailsWindow. Hi Robert, I've tested cssStyleDeclarationRET.setStyle("linkNormalColor", titleColor); and hyperlinks still come out like cssStyleDeclarationRET.setStyle("linkNormalColor", textColor); Would I have to change this to "title" in the DetailsWindow.mxml? textLayoutFormat.color = getStyle("linkNormalColor")
textLayoutFormat.textDecoration = TextDecoration.UNDERLINE;
textLayoutConfiguration.defaultLinkNormalFormat = textLayoutFormat; Thanks in advance

Thanks Robert, that worked. However, If I wanted the "linkNormalColor" to match my UI title color would I replace "text" in the DetailsWindow.mxml with "title"? protected function resizetitlewindow1_initializeHandler(event:FlexEvent):void
{
textLayoutConfiguration = new Configuration();
var textLayoutFormat:TextLayoutFormat = new TextLayoutFormat();
textLayoutFormat.color = getStyle("linkActiveColor")
textLayoutFormat.textDecoration = TextDecoration.UNDERLINE;
textLayoutConfiguration.defaultLinkActiveFormat = textLayoutFormat;
textLayoutFormat = new TextLayoutFormat();
textLayoutFormat.color = getStyle("linkHoverColor")
textLayoutFormat.textDecoration = TextDecoration.UNDERLINE;
textLayoutConfiguration.defaultLinkHoverFormat = textLayoutFormat;
textLayoutFormat = new TextLayoutFormat();
textLayoutFormat.color = getStyle("linkNormalColor")
textLayoutFormat.textDecoration = TextDecoration.UNDERLINE;
textLayoutConfiguration.defaultLinkNormalFormat = textLayoutFormat;
} as well as here? Thanks again for the help!! cssStyleDeclarationRET.setStyle("linkNormalColor", titleColor);
