I am trying to use model builder to field calculate a bunch of values and I'm having this problem with the data being overwritten. I've ran this type of model a million other times with no issue so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. In the attached image of the model, I have two feature classes with address data. LocIDAssigned_2 is the master data set. I am trying to take data from NTP05 and field calculating it into the master dataset. I did a join on a mutual field "street address" because that is the common unique field that both datasets share. From there, I just field calc each field. This works and the data I want calculated shows up just fine. Where things go wrong, is when I try to do the same process with a new dataset. If I field calc using the same process for the next dataset, for example NTP06, all the data that was calculated for NTP05 is erased. It's like I can only field calc for one dataset, instead of building upon the previous dataset. I hope that makes sense. I've been able to field calculate multiple datasets into one before with no issue so I'm not sure why data is disappearing? It's like it is being overwritten?

Here is the solution! Use the original script to sequentially order. After that is done field calculate again using the field you wish to add the extra digits to. Then you can choose the string type as .zfill and add as many zeros as you would like. I attached a screen shot to help clarify. This gave me the result I was looking for!

Where do I add this into my code? Or is this string code a separate process?

I'm trying to field calculate some records that have a null value. I used the following code from the ESRI help section on sequential calculations. It worked! Now I need to modify the script a bit. This code gives me a sequential order of single digits. I would like to have some zeros before the new assigned digit. 0001 instead of just 1. How do I add the three zeros before the assigned digit? I would like a four digit value in the end. 0001, 0002, 0003, etc. Thanks! Here's the python code I used: Parser: Python Expression: autoIncrement() Code Block: rec=0 def autoIncrement(): global rec pStart = 1 #adjust start value, if req'd pInterval = 1 #adjust interval value, if req'd if (rec == 0): rec = pStart else: rec = rec + pInterval return rec

I'm having an issue getting my data to display when I use a page definition and data driven pages at the same time. I've tried clipping my data frame but that cuts features at the border of my extent that I need. Is there a way to fix the page definition and data driven page issue? Thanks!

I have a screenshot of the Python script I'm trying to create and I'm having a problem. How do I create a space between two values? I know how to stack labels but I just need a simple space between the port field and the fibers field. Can anyone help me with this?!

If this was a routing problem, how could I use network analyst to solve that?

Let me set the scene... I work in telecommunications and I've been tasked with making some maps. I'm new in the field and in this job so I'm still navigating some new concepts. I have two maps attached that might be good reference as to what I am trying to accomplish. With conduit, there are four different classes of conduit and it is identified by it's diameter (1 inch, 2 inch...etc) When I go to represent this in my MXD as unique values, the lines are stacked. I tried to remedy this by offsetting the lines, however that screws with the location. I talked to this guy at another company to see how he had made maps like this and he wouldn't reveal his secret to doing this. He told me that I should look into using Network Analyst and I've been watching some videos and trying to see how this could help me but I'm not sure... Any ideas? There are other fields in the feature classes that I'm working with and I wonder if using some of that information might be the key. I really just need to be able to display my lines with no overlap and some space between them like in the attached examples. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

So would that entail having a second data frame with all of my layers and then doing a page definition? How do I even do a page definition?

I really want to keep all the features on the map I just want the polygon that is supposed to be featured to be more visible by having everything else around it at a higher transparency. Does that make sense? The attachment on my original post shows an example...

I have attached a map I am trying to re-create and I'm having some difficulty trying to figure out how to get the transparency and clipping right. I'm going to be creating a series of these maps using data driven pages so there is that to consider as well. I've been playing around with all kinds of settings with no success... HELP!
