I do both: My workflow is to start in model builder AND then if the logic is hard to do in model builder OR for performance reasons I will create a python script for just the portion of the project that NEEDS it; I keep the script integrated with the model giving the benefits of both. I got the FME extension to make basic pdf shapes but I moved on to another project before really doing anything more.

I've been looking into the 3DPDF writer BUT it seems a little tricky. Anyone have experience with the 3DPDF writer from the Data Interoperability Extension? Can it produce full 3D scenes?

I guess I a more voicing my frustration with time lost than looking for an answer ha ha ha. But it is SQL Server and ArcMap 10.4.1. Not sure the version of the enterprise geodatabse. It might be a bug cause if I output to "in_memory" and then write to the same geodatabase the field is populated.

In Model Builder, using minimum bounding geometry tool, whenever my output is our enterprise geodatabase the group field has no values BUT the grouping is done correctly. Writing to "In_Memory" OR another output type results in a populated group field. WHY???????

It doesn't work in this case because the table doesn't have a unique row identifier and the geoprocessing command is not letting me create one from within the SQL window SELECT statement. I will persue some other avenue - thanks again!

Thanks for the tip, that maybe the solution. Yeah ArcCatalog kind of crashes when clicking on the table.

I am connecting to a SQL Server database that has field names greater than 31 characters. Pretty much any geoprocessing tool fails on a SQL Server table that has field names this long as it is an ArcMap limitation. Anyone know a command that will DUPLICATE the table without causing an error? Possibly by copying and then altering the field name. ALSO I need to use model builder so I can't manipulate/export in ArcMap first.
