It didn't select anything. It worked when I changed it to DateEntered = '2012-01-26 05:00:00' I changed the query expression in the xml file to DateEntered = '[value] 05:00:00' but I received the Error #1009 message.

I'm still not getting any returns. Is it a problem if there are null values in the date field?

I've been playing around with the expressions in ArcMap but I can't seem to get any returns. The dates show up in my unique values list like this : '2012-01-26 05:00:00' But I only want someone to type in the date not the time. I've tested a number of expressions using the wildcard but I can't get any returns. ArcMap just tells me that there are no records. This the the expression I've been working with: DateEntered LIKE '2012-01-26%'

I'm using SQL Server. I didn't really think about using ArcMap to find the query expression. I'll give that a try. Thanks

Hi Everyone, I'm kind of a flex viewer novice so I was hoping you would be able to help me out. I'm using the simple out-of-the-box Flexviewer application for a project where I work and I need to set up a date search. I have three data sets that are edited by outside users and each one has a date field that must be filled in when an edit is made. I would like it if someone could type a date into the search widget and receive a list, popup, etc. of the edits made on that date. My only problem is that I'm not familiar with how to set up a query expression in the XML file for the search widget. I would really appreciate the help if anyone knows how to do this. As a side note: My data is stored in an ArcSDE database which stores date AND time together. I only want the user to have to type in a date and not the time (the time part is where I keep running into trouble but there is no way to eliminate it right now). Thanks for the help! -Heather

Hi Rachel, I had the same problem as you. I have several datasets that can be edited with the edit widget and they all have a number of fields that have to be filled in. The best work around I could find (since I know nothing about programing) was to number each field in the order you want using the field aliases. So for example when your alias might look like "1. [Name]" then go on to two ( " 2. [Name]") and so on in the order you want the fields to appear. The edit widget should list them according to number. It really wasn't the way I wanted my field names to look in the editor but at least they were in the right order. good luck! -Heather

I'm hoping someone would be able to give me some help or point me in the right direction. You've probably all heard this before but I don't have any programming experience so if you could bare with me I will try hard to figure it out. I'm working with someone who knows more than I do though. Just a little back story; I've set up a simple Flex viewer application where the general public can help update one of our datasets by leaving a request. The request data is stored in a versioned ArcSDE database. My next step is to set up a geoprocessing service that will run nightly and extract that day's requests by looking at a date field that the user has to fill in with each next request. I hit a snag with the "date" type field because ArcSDE automatically stores date and time together which interferes with a widget that we want to use (if anyone knows who to fix the date I would appreciate it!) Currently the users have to hand punch a date into (working on an automatic date function right now but that won't be ready till much later) a numeric field. Long story short, does anyone know if there is an internal date field that is automatically kept and updated by ArcServer when someone makes an edit to a versioned dataset? If so is it accessible? So far the hand punched date field is not useful for this purpose. Thanks for the help everyone. -Heather

Hi again. I had posted earlier about the selection widget not bringing up the date and time together in the unique values field. You compiled a new version that fixed that but I seem to be facing another problem and I'm not sure if it's the widget or my own settings. I mentioned before that geodatabases store date and time together in a date field. The ArcGIS help menu says that date are stored as yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss AM or PM. The time doesn't matter to me since the geodatabase seems to store random times that make very little sense. When I open up the selection widget and go to search by a specific date the widget brings up all the unique values but then fails to find any features. When I inspected how the dates were stored in the attributes and how the appear in the widget I noticed they were shown in two different formats. I'm not sure if this is the reason for why it can't bring up the results. I had it working fine with the same data yesterday. I attached some pics of the dates in the attribute field and the widget. I don't have the ability to change code unfortunately. If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate the help 🙂 Thanks!

Same SDK - 4.1 and AGS 2.5 It has the Date and Time formatter, but I don't have time data available to test this out. Can you work with the uncompiled version? If you can't work with the uncompiled version and this version does not work for you, I can abstract out the Date Time formatter into the config file (probably the best solution anyway), but I can't get to that for a few days, Maybe Tues or Weds. Let me know if this at least helps It's working perfectly now. Thanks for the help.

This widget is a life saver! Thanks for posting the compiled version for 2.5. I'm still having a small problem querying dates. All the data for my viewer is in an ArcSDE database which automatically adds the time along with the date. When I use the widget and attempt to query a date it doesn't return any results because it needs a time (When I manually type in the time than it works). The widget doesn't bring up the dates with the time though in the list of unique values, only date alone. Is there a way to fix that or if anyone knows how to turn the time off in the date field that would work too. Thanks the great widget! -Heather
