I have a similar problem with this. Previously I've never hade to initialize a bind, but after getting shape files for loading from a different file server than before, it seems like this is necessary all of a sudden. Loading from the new file server requires this line: RuntimeManager.BindLicense(ProductCode.Desktop); With the old file server it is possible to remove this line and it still works. Why is this? I thought that the licenses were only necessary for the machine running the executable, not file servers that are used in performing a task. We use XML-files for scheduled tasks, and the only change that caused the COM-exception was a new path. All ArcGIS products are version 10. Any answers that could clarify this would be appreciated. I think I have it fixed. It was not an issue with the Extensibility installer at all, the paths to my project templates and item templates were set to my user folder in Visual Studio rather than Visual Studio's install location where the Extensibility SDK was putting the template. Setting the correct paths in Visual Studio under Tools > Options > Projects and Solutions seems to have solved the problem. After following Katys guide until step 9, and then changing the directory as you suggested worked for me. Using the /setup command on Visual Studio Express Web 2013 did nothing. Thanks for all the input.

Have you tried changing the image format of your layer? Might be that the format you are currently using does not support transparency. If you set it to png, your problem might solve itself. (layer as ArcGISImageServiceLayer).ImageFormat = ArcGISImageServiceLayer.ImageServiceImageFormat.Default; ImageFormat documentation.

Try this
ArcGISTiledMapServiceLayer tiles = new ArcGISTiledMapServiceLayer()
{
Url = "http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Street_Map/MapServer/0"
};
MapApplication.Current.Map.Layers.Add(tiles);
MapApplication.SetLayerName(tiles, "World Street Map");
EDIT: The layer you are trying to add is as feature layer, so you might want to try FeatureLayer instead of ArcGISTiledMapServiceLayer.

I don't think you're in the right forums. I think you have to publish them separately but nothing stops you from packaging them as grouplayer and load into your application as different layer types.

Hi! I've made an application in the Silverlight Viewer. I made tool myself for adding items from the portal, there are also two tools from ESRI called AddContentCommand and another AddIn called SearchTool. When I add FeatureLayers from these different sources, they all behave differently and I can't find the controlling parameter for this. What I want is, regardless of the source, that features should only be retrieved within the maps extent. Right now it seems to be just random, or based in the settings of the previously loaded layer. This picture shows the setting in the viewer, but I'd like to do it programatically with a behavior, i.e. any FeatureLayer added should have this setting by default. Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Regards Johan

Have you tried removing the references and then adding them again? Version 0.0.0.0 doesn't seem quite right. If you manage to load all your references, the rest of the problems should disappear too. I also had to download Blend to get the Microsoft.Expression.Interactions dll.

At the top of the list it says: This topic applies to ArcGIS for Desktop Standard and ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced only. Doesn't freehand drawing cut it?

So you want a label visualized on top of the polygon in your map view, not a label in the map contents? I am not too familiar with bindings in xaml unfortunately, but perhaps this can help you.

It seems I have solved it, it was simply a question of the settings for the task. "Run only when user is logged in" does not require highest privileges. "Run wether user is logged in or not" requires the "Highest privileges"-checkbox to be checked for some reason. Old versions of the program I've been working on did not require this, can't really figure out whats different. Thank you for your time Alexander!

The database connection is done through passing a command line to various exe-files depending on the scenario (i.e. sdelayer.exe, sdeexport.exe, sdeimport.exe) something like this:
readonly string exportCommand = "sdeexport -o create -l $layername$,shape -f $filename$ " +
"-i $sdeinstance$ -s $server$ -D $dbname$ -u $user$ -p $password$"; The variables surrounded by "$" are then replaced with values from a .xml file, depending on which environment the program is running on. The same problem occurs whenever I try to run the task from the scheduler manually, no different behavior. Could you explain to me how the license fetching is done? Does this command: ESRI.ArcGIS.RuntimeManager.BindLicense(ESRI.ArcGIS.ProductCode.Desktop); compare your local license with a license server? Do the set-variables in the commandprompt decide where this command looks for the license? Thanks in advance.
