This certainly looks promising! Finally! Thanks Esri! I can hardly wait until I can update to Pro 3.2 to give it a try!

To extend the question a bit, the campus on which I work manages all of its utilities except gas. I had planned to develop a utility network with each utility as a separate domain so that they could make use of the same structural network. Frequently, various utilities share structures such as manholes, poles, conduit, ground boxes, etc., and I wanted this shared status to be obvious to those perusing the data, especially when conducting a trace. If I were to create separate utility networks, I would have to maintain multiple copies of the structural network. I could see that could become quite a headache to keep them synced. Currently, I am the only editor, but this could change down the road. In this case, what would the recommendation be regarding multiple domains or multiple networks? Cheryl

As Scott suggested, it was a permissions problem, although the Server account already had the role of db datareader and db datawriter. My DBA preferred to not assign permissions at the individual database level, since all the databases on this instance are intended to work with the ArcGIS server, so he gave it the db owner role, as well. That solved my problem. Thanks, Scott, for the help.

We are using IWA. I have sysadmin on the overall SQL instance but nothing specified at the database level. The ArcGIS Server account has Connect perms with DBO to the database. I am guessing the Server account is needing explicit permission to Execute? Any other permission that should be made explicit for branch-versioned editing?

I have an SQL 2016 geodatabase that has been registered to our Portal (10.9.1) on a Federated Server site for years. Until now, we have not done editing through the portal using a feature service (I've been editing through Pro directly on Default). It's now time to change that. We will be moving to the utility network so I need to become familiar with branch versioning. In order to get this working for branch versioning, I had to add a new data store to the portal, although the default database was already registered to the portal. Was this because when it was originally registered it was set to traditional? I created a branch versioned feature service with version management checked. I then brought the feature service into ArcGIS Pro, created a named version and switched to that. I could update and save attributes, but when I click on the map to create a new feature, the Create Feature tool pops up this error message: When I check the ArcGIS Server Manager logs, it shows: Decided to try editing in a web map from Portal. I could update attributes in Default (I haven't figured out how to create a version for use in a web map, yet. One step at a time 🙂 ), but when I tried to save a new feature, the following would pop up (no more helpful than those 99999 error codes): The Server Manager logs showed the following: Where does the problem lie? We have an enterprise SQL database and ArcGIS Server and Portal 10.9.1. Up until now, we haven't worried about versioning because most of the time there has been a single editor meticulous about the quality of edits. But things are changing, and we will be having other people edit through feature services. Because their edits need to be vetted before they are committed to the database, I need to set up some form of versioning. I am somewhat familiar with traditional versioning, having played around with it to learn what it was about. However, I believe that Branched Versioning would be the preferred way to go in my scenario. I tried to register a dataset as Branch versioned, but immediately ran into problems because our editor tracking has been using database time, and it appears that Branch Versioning requires UTC. Database time is preferable in our case because all of our work is done in one time zone, and it is what our workers would understand. Is there a way around this UTC requirement, or is there some way to make it so that the users would see database time? Or do I need to go back through all my datasets that would use branch versioning, disable editor tracking and convert their date fields to UTC so that timing is at least consistent withing the dataset? Thanks for any advice. Cheryl

It's been awhile, but got a little time to play with this. The issue has something to do with the determination of the "center" point. I modified the symbols in ArcGIS Pro to include a circle marker, centered on the small circle, that is sized to cover the "wings" of the symbol. I thought I would be clever and make it transparent. ArcGIS Pro and the map image layer worked fine (as they always have), the feature layer still got it wrong. So then I colored outline of the large circle. This worked, but obviously, it is not the symbol I need. The symbol is supposed to represent the view of a security camara. Some poles have more than one camera. The symbols have been created so that the small colored circle is centered on the the location of the camera. Anybody have any ideas how I can force these eccentric symbols to rotate around this point?

I have ArcGIS Pro 2.9.6 on my machine and went to install untools. The latest version that I can see is untools 2.9.5.1. Is there a untools 2.9.6, or will the 2.9.5.1 work on ArcGIS Pro 2.9.6, or do I need to downgrade ArcGIS Pro 2.9.5?

Thank you for your emphasis rewrite. I originally read that sentence several times trying to understand it! The change in fonts that you did made it much easier to comprehend. I'll have to remember to do that next time I come across a similar issue with negation.

Has the comparison between the Communications Utility Network Foundation and the Communications Data Management been posted anywhere yet. I can't seem to find it and I'm trying to figure out which one to try to implement. Thanks

Well, I've learned a little bit. It has to do with the symbology, particularly the rotation of the symbols. If I share a map with unrotated symbols, the point features are in their correct locations, but if I then turn on rotation in the resulting web feature layer, the points move. Strangely, if I then turn off rotation, the points do not return to their original position, but go to some other position! Does the Map Viewer determine the center point of a symbol differently than Arc Pro? That is the only thing I've thought of so far that may be causing the problems. Any other ideas?

No, both the web feature layer and the basemap are in the same coordinate system. Besides a geographic transformation issue shouldn't move points that are originally <1' apart in opposite directions! I'm guessing it has something to do with the symbology.

I have a feature class in an enterprise geodatabase which I shared as a web layer with the settings Reference registered data>Map Image>Feature. The layer uses custom symbols from .svg files. Unfortunately, the feature service has moved some points. Why? Here is the layer in ArcGIS Pro Here it is in Enterprise Portal Note the two red ovals in the Enterprise Portal. In the one on the left, the point has been moved to the middle of the building, in the oval on the left, the two blue circles should be essentially on top of each other, and reversed in north-south position. This is not a coordinate system issue--that wouldn't reverse the position of two points and move them away from each other. Any idea what is going on? Cheryl

Anyone who has been impacted by this, I recommend contacting their account manager. The solution my account manager offered is a workable one for me. I appreciate the Education team's effort to not leave us out in the cold!
