I am trying to connect to a locally deployed ArcGIS server through Arcobjects Java. I am following the documentation at ArcObjects Help for Java developers | ArcGIS for Desktop . serverInitializer = new ServerInitializer(); serverInitializer.init(); // Initialize with <domain> <username> <password>... serverInitializer.initializeServer("domain", "user", "pass"); connection = new ServerConnection(); connection.connect("localhost"); I get the below error AutomationException: 0x5 - Access is denied. in 'Invoke' at com.esri.arcgis.server.ServerConnection.connect(Unknown Source) I assume this is from the latest documentation. I am trying to setup a Junit test case for SOE functions. If local connections have been discontinued as of 10.1, why is this still part of documentation or is there something I am missing.

It turns out that above code does not work inside init() method. Reference to NAserver can be obtained by same code when run after initialization of SOE is completed. So if you want to use NAserver in a REST/SOAP operation, below method can be used to get reference. private INAServer2 getNAServerRef(){ if(this.naServer2 != null) return this.naServer2; try { this.naServer2 = (INAServer2)((IServerObjectExtensionManager)this.soHelper.getServerObject()).findExtensionByTypeName("NAServer") ; return naServer2; } catch (AutomationException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return naServer2; }

Dear List, We have an application that is making bulk requests to NAServer enabled on the map service. To tune and optimize the performance, we plan to consolidate all requests in a single request that should be handled by an SOE that would internally use NAServer for all the requests. So far I have been unable to find the path to acquire INAServer(2)`s reference from ServerObjectHelper that is passed in the init() method of SOE. Has anybody tried this before, or does the SOE need to load NA capabilities by accessing the actual MXD? IMapServer3 ms = (IMapServer3) this.soHelper.getServerObject(); IServerObjectExtensionManager soeManager = new IServerObjectExtensionManagerProxy(ms); IServerObjectExtension soe = soeManager.findExtensionByTypeName("NAServer"); // this is null ....tried Network Analyst, NA, NA_Server, NA_Extension INAServer2 naServer = (INAServer2)soe ; // this is NULL

We would like deploy a custom feature renderer on ArcGIS Server. ArcObjects Help for Java developers The documentation at this link, says that it can be used in ArcGIS Server, now when publishing, the symbology is said to be not supported. Has anyone tried doing this before or would this be supported in future?. Not the first time the Arcobjects documentation has been misleading.

Dear List, I am trying to use milstd-2525d in arcgis runtime for Java. I am following the documentation at military-features-data/data/mil2525d/core_data/stylxfiles at master · Esri/military-features-data · GitHub This does not seem to take any effect, offcourse the DictionaryType enum class is statically typed and cannot be used for new stylx / dat file. Is there a work around where I can use this as a dictionary renderer? regards, Imran

I have configured a cumulative incident detector, It is following the incident location, but the previous location is not being deleted and there is a trail of incidents as if the incident detector was configured as point in time. I have attached the configuration and the result on map. Am I doing something wrong here? any help will be appreciated. I am actually following the geoevent tutorials. regards, Imran

I am trying to add write support to plugin datasource, Has anyone attempted doing this? I am trying to figure out the interfaces the PluginWorkspaceHelpder and PluginDatasetHelpder classes should implement to enable editing in ArcMap. I have tried to implement IPlugInWorkspaceHelper2 on the workspacehelpder class and ITable interface on IPlugInDatasetHelper class. Still when I enable editing the workspace appears to be read-only and none of the implemented methods are called.

Greetings, We are viewing strange behavior on ArcGIS Server`s MapServer response through Expor Map. It seems that the server finishes its rendering before all the geometry shapes are drawn. This is only happening where the volume of data is very high. If the layer is viewed in ArcMap, all the features are shown, However I noticed that when ArcMap is rendering the high number of features step by step, ArcGISServer seems to stop at the step that would of been the 2nd last step on ArcMap. The attachments include two exportmap calls on the map service. In the first response, not all the parcels are drawn, however If I zoom in one step on the same extent, I get all the parcels. Any possible causes to this behavior. This data is coming from TeraData regards, Imran

I have been trying to use the IGeometryFactoryProxy.createGeometryFromWkbVariant to convert OGC WKB into an IGeometry object. I have had no luck with this at all. Was unable to find any Java example on this. The Wkb bytes are valid since I am able to convert them into geometry using another third party API esri-geometry-core. The doucumentation suggests that I should pass in the byte[], a single element array of IGeometry (I have no idea if this array should be empty or populated with empty geometry but I assigned an empty geometry anyways), lastly a single element int[1] which holds the size of WKB at [0]. as suggested by the documentation. I get Null Pointer exception with the following stack java.lang.NullPointerException at com.esri.arcgis.interop.Dispatch.vtblInvoke(Unknown Source) at com.esri.arcgis.geometry.IGeometryFactoryProxy.createGeometryFromWkbV ariant(Unknown Source) my java code IGeometry[] geomArr = new IGeometry[1]; geomArr[0]=new com.esri.arcgis.geometry.Polygon(); //populate with an empty polygon byte[] wkb = ... //populate bytes array int[] intArr = new int[1]; intArr[0]=wkb.length; //size of bytes IGeometryFactory3Proxy geometryFactory = new IGeometryFactory3Proxy(); geometryFactory.createGeometryFromWkb(intArr, wkb, geomArr); //tried this geometryFactory.createGeometryFromWkbVariant(wkb, geomArr, intArr); //also tried this geomArr[0].toString(); any idea what am I doing wrong.
