That won't work if the user decides to choose a directory other than program files. In a 32-bit program if you open the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ESRI\Explorer1750 and look for InstallDir, you can get the path. If you are running 64-bit it will be HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ESRI\Explorer1750.

With version 1700 I looked in the registry under the path "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ESRI\Explorer1700\InstallDir" to find the path to where it was installed. I then appended "bin\e3.exe" to the path and used "ShellExecute" to startup ArcGis Explorer. For version 1750, that registry path does not exist anymore. How do I find the path to the ArcGISExplorer executable so I can start it from a separate program?

Hi, On your dev machine what happens if you check the file exists first e.g. System.IO.File.Exists() or create a new in memory BitMap from the file on disk before using in the CreateMarker method? Cheers Mike Ok, so I tried what you said and the problem still happens. if(System.IO.File.Exists(path)) { trkSymbol = Symbol.CreateMarker(path); } It is returning true but yet does not create the marker from the path.

No, you got it right. Its a multi-monitor setup. I'm thinking it is a driver issue, as we tried it with a different display card (Quadro 450 NVS) and everything was fine.

We have a system with 4 displays with an NVidia 440 display card. We position one display on top and two other displays side by side. If we position Explorer on the top display, the map part of the window does not update. On either bottom display, the map does update. Is this fixed in 1500?

I know AGX doesn't like to run offline, but is there a way to have it come up without the error box about the basemaps when offline? I've installed a totally local file basemap, but it still comes up with the error. Also, are there any basemaps that are halfway decent will work offline? Low cost or free is better.

Same thing happens w/ 1200 and 1500. And the weird thing is, it doesn't happen on 3 or 4 other machines, just my development machine. Its like an extra "something" is happening on my machine that fails, but the extra thing doesn't happen. Is there a setting somewhere for the .bmp file path that is somehow failing? Hi, If you can post a snippet of your code I'll take a look. Is this version 1500? Cheers Mike

I'm pretty sure its not the code because it works fine on other machines. But here is how I am using the function: trkSymbol = Symbol.CreateMarker(path); where path is a string that contains the location of the file. I verified that the path is correct. Thx

I am having a weird problem when using the CreateMarker(bmp) method. It seems an exception is getting thrown somewhere in the mscore.lib. Its not the bitmap that is bad. It was working perfectly fine and then out of nowhere it stopped. Anyone else run into this or know what might have happened.
