Does anyone give a simple test when interviewing potential hires? Like a basic knowledge test?

Brad, After weeks of testing and speaking to other GIS professionals, we found a solution. I do not recommend it. The workaround will only work with locators made with ArcMap. It also requires diving into the config file that is generated when producing the locator. It boils down to injecting aliases for each street name into the code of the config file.(editing this file is not possible in ArcPro) For best results, each street name required 3-5 aliases to help generate the auto population. After many man hours and testing, it was not perfect in some scenarios. With ArcMap depreciating we found this not sustainable. With the constant updates of new streets, it would also become a tedious process when the time comes to update the locator. We reconfigured the salesforce application to consume a feature layer service. This service is hosted through our portal. When querying the feature service we see the behavior we wanted out of the box. I would suggest using this method instead of a locator. If you want to reach out. I don't mind sharing the config file and explaining more in detail, but a feature service is the way to go. jabush@opelika-al.gov

I will attempt to describe this issue as best as possible. I have created an address locator in ArcGIS 10.8.1. shared to our hosted portal. Single home- Sub address style. We are using this in a salesforce application. Where the REST URL is being consumed. The behavior is not the same as other platforms when searching. For example, a user will begin typing an address in the search field and all candidates do not auto-populate when the street number is being entered. The full address has to be entered before any auto-population options appear. For example, "1500 PINEHURST DR. UNIT" has to be entered before all candidates will appear. In other applications, we see the behavior of all candidates being returned by imputing "1500". All addresses containing "1500" populate. Am I missing something in the configuration of the locator? The salesforce team says it's a locator issue. I have generated multiple variations with the same result... HELP

Does a certain API function better than others when it comes to the map application performance? When an app is created it defaults to "Flex".

We use our geodatabase and web map applications. The public can view plots here https://arcg.is/1q0KOb Our back-office staff updates records in arcpro or web-based maps. If you already have layers designed it's pretty simple to build a web map to update plot data that then can update the public-facing map. I am not sure if this answers your exact question. We are also looking at some salesforce products to integrate Esri and payment solutions in one "cemetery application", but the raw data will reside in our GDB

Where do I turn assessability on/off for REST endpoints to be viewable to the outside? Is it possible to do so with one service? In the ArcGIS server admin.

Hello! I want to develop a similar process, I am a bit green with python. I am just looking for a more efficient solution to add multiple address points. For instance, when a new subdivision comes along I receive the addressing and need to create a point with attributes. For a single street, the only fields that change are the house number and a hyperlink. The x,y changes as well but I can recalculate them when the points are placed. I just want a way to create multiple points at once in arcmap, If I have to move them manually once created that is fine. Any idea on a script or tool to do this. attached is an example of my attributes. Thanks!

Can anyone help me with a field calculation script? I have a field for sewer lines that has a unique code that increases by one for every new line added we typically have dozens of line segments added at a time. I would like to automate this field entry. last existing field ex 'SSP1000' New feature field would become 'SSP1001" I am green with python, thanks in advance!

I don't believe so? I do not want to add anything to my feature layer. I just want to select multiple fields from the feature table based on another spreadsheet.

This is a basic thing I should know how to do, but I am a bit rusty. I want to select some polygons in a table by many unique values. I have a .xls table with the values I need to pull. and a matching attribute field in my feature layer table. What is the best way to select these polygons from my feature table?

Cody, Thanks for taking the time to go through that overview. To clarify our END Goal is to produce a 3d virtual model of our historic downtown area. This area is only a few blocks, less than 1 square mile. Then the industrial and Tech parks. So only targeted areas for the drone. We fly photography and LIDAR every 3 years. It is currently in progress for the new set. I have made a model in the past of clipped building footprints and the topography with some of the LIDAR, but that still only produces extruded features with randomized or targeted facades. I don't have the time or manpower to go through and create exact windows, material type etc. This leads me to the drone2map software. It seems from what I have read this product would produce a realistic virtual model more efficiently in less time. As far as the 3d printer. the preferred file type would be a .STL file, but we can export that .OBJ file to what we need. Currently we have a Makerbot Replicator + , but in the future we will be looking to purchase a larger print bed. Side bar to this, What would be my best platform to take lidar and other parametric data to produce a virtual 3d model. I used City engine in the past, but it was a bit of a learning curve. Can everything I need to do for the 3d model be done in Pro?

Cody, Thanks for the response, from my research the camera just needs to be able to have GPS capability, correct? We are wanting to create a 3d model of the city and then eventually 3d print a scaled version of the city. Do you think drone to map would be an efficient, easy solution to this project?
