What is the GP tool? I swear I could create the web map, create an app and assign a survey 123 form to this in an hour, but I want to use the features installed with this solutions package and the connected applications. Man, this is harder than learning cad 30 years ago without a manuals. I opened the storm water network editor web map that has the manhole layer created from the deployment, I added a zipped shapefile that has the existing manhole locations with some attribute data, I then tried to use the analysis tab tool that has a merge layer tool, but I get an error with no details. is this the correct procedure? to append a layer? The goal of using this system was to, tracking our filed crew as they located the manholes in the filed, I wanted to assign a flag for each manholes collected so we know if we miss any. The filed guys put a paint mark next to each structure they open, but that doesn't tell them if they missed one. I wanted to try the mobile apps for that. Do you know if they have any books or how to pdf's available for purchase on storm water solutions. I couldn't find any. I have training on this is a few months. I guess I thought I could get a few things connected before the class to help me understand how the app works, and were the data is being saved. I also thought it might hep me from getting too lost during the training. that does appear to be happening at this rate. Looks like I'm going to do this the old way for this project until I can get a better handle on the solutions tool, and where all the data is being saved and how to update it. Thanks for your help. I'll continue to search the group for answers. John

New to ESRI and solutions - Storm Water. New to most things GIS, except import export shape files. Civil Cad person trying to use ESRI Solutions for small storm water deployment web maps. I'd like to start off simple by trying to creating a simple map of existing storm water structures (zipped shape file from arcMap) I'm having issues understanding if I am doing something wrong with my data. I used the ARC Pro create new proj., then I used the share > arc solution deploy, and selected a small storm water deploy to create a folder in my Online account. That created a folder in my online account .done. Q. Do I create a layer for my existing shape file data in arc pro to use in the SW solutions manhole layer or do I open the new web maps and insert the shape file data there? if I insert from a file using that method, how do I target the imported shape file to the correct layer under the SW solutions. If I use the SW viewer web map, How do you direct the data from the file to be placed on the manhole web map layer? I don't see how I place that data on the correct manhole layer unless I edit and add those location one at a time to a selected layer. I could not locate anything that walks you thru the complete process of creating an online map, adding data. how the forms are used or connect to the SW solitons. I think they assume the 4 or 5 pages in the help sections define the entire process. For me, I'm completely lost on how to connect all this up, or even get it to a point I can view any of the data using this solution tools. I thought I could use solution package on a project where we plan to just collect the location of manholes in the field. I might have to put that on hold If I can't get this working. Any help, direction you can provide is welcome. Thank you John

so I'm guessing that python doesn't have a method to turn an angle off the start or end point of a line.

I looked in the link. I didn't see anything that jumped out at me for what I'm trying to do. I did look in the API, but didn't find anything. But with names like searchcursor, I would of never looked under that to do some type of selection set. It all new. John

Hi All, New to ESRI and New to Python. I'm trying to find out if it's possible to turn angles of 0,90,180,270, from a defined line / polyline .startpoint and .endpoints with distance based on whatever the line direction is. Using the direction of the line / polyline object, either start to end or end to start to define what end I want to use, and what direction I'm going. I'm looking to be able to do Three things, first, use the cursor tool to loop thru all the, in my case (centerlines) layer and draw new polylines, see attached figure. Getting started I can hard code the angle and distance to draw. in the end, I'd like to get those values from a field. Second, the same draw function, but this time, I want to select a single (centerline) by some name field and be able to draw from a selected end. either .startpoint or .endpoint. with a supplied distance and create something like what is in the attached pdf. Third, same as number 2, but the .startpoint and .endpoints locations or direction would come from a text file. Read text file, startpoint .endpoint, distance to go, angle to use, create new point. {startpoint}, {endpoint},{Distance}, {create new point}, draw polyline from points. This is my first attempt with Python. First week. It looks pretty powerful, Hopefully someone can point me to some samples that do similar tasks, so I can get stated automating a few tasks. Hopefully what I'm trying to do makes sense. Thanks John

Rebecca, I have watched a few you tube videos on the model builder, I did one for an online course I took a couple of years ago. I wish they had something like that for a civil cad environment. I been writing vb apps for years to do stuff a lot less complicated that the model builder samples I’ve seen. Super powerful & clean, after you get the process down. I’ll take a look. Again, thanks for the help. I’ll take a stab at it. John

Rebecca, I was looking to do the TOC export or by geodatabase. I thought they were doing the same task, exporting groups of shape file at one time to a directory. I apologize, I guess I was mixing up the tasks. Thanks so much for the links. those look great. I’ll see if I came make some headway with them tonight. Is Python a paste and run tool? You don’t need to load a dll or dvb to run. John

Rebecca, I did have an issue a while ago with links on another project, I moved data and didn’t know the links would be lost. I fixed them manually. Now, I know to be careful when moving support data. I’m a cad guy in a GIS world currently. We normally consume GIS data, so updating features and validating exports, layers and attribute fields for a FAA online portal is a little more GIS than I’m used to. One of my tasks is to export each feature from a template manual that is two volumes with 500 page each. That’s why I wanted/needed a tool to export multiple features. Thanks for all your help. John

Rebecca, This is a good start, Thank you. I'm sure I can find samples, its knowing what those sample do is what I'll need after I get started. Why don't they have built in tools for things like fix broken. If everyone who would move data for whatever reason gets a broken link why not have a tool to re-path to a directory. quickly with having to write a script. Thank you John

I can't seem to find a tool in ArcMap 10.2.2 standard that allows you to export all the layers in my TOC to a directory with each shapefile file name per layer in the TOC. I have a template geodatabase that I loaded shape file data into, then edited that data. Now I need to export some 100 plus layers from the geodatabase as shape files to update the original data. Because of that, I'm looking for a Python sample that exports all the layers in my TOC to a file location or a function that selects the current geodatabase and exports all the features to shape files. Do you just copy and paste Python code to run it? Is this something that can be none if I've never used Python before. I didn't see a lot of help for it, but I might of been looking in the wrong location. I looked around for a VBA macro editor as well and could located that. I might have a chance with that. Thank you John
