It would depend on where your firewall sits in your configuration, and where your web adaptors are hosted. If you have a web adaptor in the DMZ (outside the firewall) and the other servers inside the firewall, the the source would be the web adaptor server and your destinations would be Portal, GIS and Image servers. Users of your services will access the web adaptor server on port 443, and then that server will access the other servers.

You can just use the User Types as listed in your Org Licenses section. "Creator", "Editor", "Mobile Worker", and "Viewer" for example.

Yes, and AGOL doesn't need to be able to communicate directly with the Portal. The Portal will reach out to AGOL and ask for the data.

With a Distributed Collaboration between Enterprise and ArcGIS Online, the Enterprise Portal can be behind a firewall on a local DNS because Enterprise connects to Online, but Online never connects to Enterprise.

We have a hosted feature layer view that is broken. We would like to fix it by updating the source layer, but that option is not available. We see this message instead: "Could not access layer. Try again." Sounds similar to this BUG-000156219 for ArcGIS Online (esri.com) Is there any other way to update the source layer of a hosted feature layer view? I have looked into AGO Assistant and GeoJobe Admin Tools but haven't found anything yet. When I view the item's JSON, I don't see anything that seems to define the item or definitions that the view is using. Where is the Hosted View config data stored?

Following. We need to do the same thing. I see how to create an "application" item that has a client ID and secret, and I am able to generate a token using that, but I don't understand how that grants access to content, or how to specify which content it should have access to.

I'm on 11.2 and the version shown in Portal Administrator Directory is 11.2, but on /portal/sharing/rest it doesn't show a version number. If go from the root down to /portal/sharing/rest/portals/self it says current version is 2023.2 Which is interesting because ArcGIS Monitor went from version 10.8.1 to version 2023.0 (latest version is 2023.3

If you publish to an ArcGIS Server and choose Copy all Data instead of Reference Data, or if you choose Reference Data but your data source isn't registered you will get the warning "All data will be copied to the server", then a copy of your FGDB is uploaded to the server and ArcGIS Server does use a FGDB as the data source for the service. This is for a stand alone ArcGIS server, though. When you have Enterprise, it will always use the Data Store (Relational) to store data for feature services when you choose Copy All Data. One exception I'm aware of is that if, when publishing from ArcPro, you select "Map Image" in the General tab under Reference registered data, and the location of your source FGDB is not already registered with the server, then it will behave as above and upload a copy of your FGDB. This only works for Map Image Layers, aka dynamic map services, not for hosted feature layers as far as I can tell.

When we upgrade ArcGIS Notebook Server, we have Esri instructions to install the new runimes as well, but I haven't seen any instructions on how to remove the older runtimes. Is there a best practice for removing older Notebook runtimes? My Context: AGE on Windows Servers, Notebook Server on a Windows 2019 OS running VMWare and Docker for Windows (Linux containers). We install both Standard and Advanced notebook images. The Docker for Windows uses a virtual hard drive with a set amount of space. I need to remove older images (10.8.1 and 10.9.1) because docker says I don't have enough disc space to install the new images. I tried using the Docker commands to remove images, and they do seem to be gone, but didn't free up space and ArcGIS Notebook Server Manager still lists those runtimes. There is a delete (trash can) item on the Notebook Server manager beside each runtime, but it is grayed out.

Agreed, it is not uncommon to use AGO as your ArcGIS Pro license manager and then interact with other ArcGIS Enterprise Portals. You only need to ensure you have enough of the right type of Enterprise licenses for your users.

Yes, the F5 Virtual Server has the DNS C-Name assigned to its IP and a CA SSL applied to it. The web adaptor server runs IIS and can use a domain cert. The F5 VS is the only thing end users connect to. It proxies traffic to a 'pool' which, in this case, only has one server in it and that is the web adaptor server.

I think you nailed it, nice work! This is almost exactly what we have done and it works great. No VPN required and high security. The only thing we did a little different from your plan is that we created a Virtual server in F5 and assigned our DNS name to it. That way we can offload SSL to F5, and should we ever need to swap servers, we can do so by simply changing what F5 points to for the web adaptor server. No problems at all running multiple web adaptors on a single server. Edit: I guess we do subdomains differently than you do. We have one subdomain for the whole system (enterprise.company.com/portal, enterprise.company.com/server, enterprise.company.com/image, etc). Each component except the data store has its own web adaptor.
