I tried to name it like you suggest above, but I probably did it wrong as it does not work.. The toolbox is now attached in the question I want all the inputs into the collector to merge after they pass the tool. The Inputs are from different layerfiles. I attached the toolbox where I use an append first now, however this causes a "read-only" error. I am not sure why I should use a precondition? As I understand from Preconditions—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS for Desktop , a precondition is only used if you have disconnected processes - which is not the case in my model.

I have a large model with submodels. Basically the Model iterates through all Districts, selects in each district an attribute above a certain threshold, creates a layerfile of it. The submodel iterates through all the Attributes of the created layerfile and then selects the neighbor of this attribute below a certain threshold and creates another layerfile of it. In the end I want to merge the layerfiles. I though of using a collect value tool to collect all the layerfiles (red circle) which got created in the iterations in the submodel and then add a Merge tool to it in the main model ( or should it be in the submodel)? However, I get no result if I add it to display. The whole Model works if I just run it and see the result for the last run in the iterator. Can anyone help me with this? I attached the model but the jpeg probably doesn't make any sense as the text is too small. How can I merge two features from the same layer into one feature when using the Model Builder? Outside of the model builder, this can easily be done with the Edit Tool. How can I make the same process work in Modelbuilder? Also, is there a way to automatically tell Modelbuilder to chose the Feature with the lower Value of Field-X to be the "Parent-feature"? I work with ArcGIS 10.1 I aksed the question also on gis.stackexchange: ArcGIS Modelbuilder: Merge features from same layer into one feature - Geographic Information Systems Stack Exchange

I work with ArcGIS 10.2 with an advanced license level. The source data is in a file geodatabase and so is the Output. Thanks for the link to the Feature layer, will try if it works that way!

I am trying to select zonetypes (eg forest, agriculture) within a municipality and to show the area of each zonetype in this municipality. I am doing this in ModelBuilder and will export it to a python script later on. I am stuck with following Points How can I tell ModelBuilder to perform the task on the municipality I click in with my Cursor? I heard Feature sets are helpful but I don't really understand how they work and how I must implement one as a pointer How can I get the area statistics? I thought by using the Calculate Area tool. This would create a new feature class.Another option would be exporting the selected data as a table and perform a summary on it. However, these two ways do not work with the "select layer by Location tool" as this requires a layer file as input This question is also posted here: arcgis desktop - Select by point using ModelBuilder? - Geographic Information Systems Stack Exchange

Hello I created routes with the "Create Routes Tool" in ArcGIS 10.2.2. The route persists of rivers for quite a large area. The flow direction of the rivers are either "1" which means flow direction in digitized direction or "2" = flor direction against digitized direction. This seems to be correct for all routes. When I open the "Edit Sketch Properties" I see that the M-Value however is not correct for all routes with the value 1 = flow direction in digitized direction (pic with red highlighting). I Need the M Value to be 0 at hashtag 0. The highest M Value should be at the highest hashtag hence the M Values should be switched (see pic with green higlighting). When I flip the routes, I flip the whole direction which I dont want as the direction is correct (blue highlighting). I only Need the M-Values to flip, not the #-values. I can do this with right click on the route --> route measure editing --> set distance. However, this is only possible for one route at a time and as I have many routes I am looking for a solution to do this automatically. Is there an update m values tool or anything like this in ArcGIS? I could not find anything.

Thank you a lot Curtis! The code worked when I tested it on a GDB with 2 feature classes with the same field names. However, I had to completed the process in FME as I have different field names in all FC and couldn't find it out how to do it with a script on time (Python is not really my strength..) ! Will definitively use it in the future though!

Thanks for the input! In Fact I have over 200 fields for more than 100 feature classes so I cannot do it manually.. I failed with PolyGeo's idea as I am not good with Python, even if the way sounds quite logical to me but I give an update if I can make it work with the NumPy!

I want to create a python script (ArcGIS 10.1) where I loop through a GDB with several feature classes and select all the fields which are of text type and convert them to float type. I always want to skip the first 10 and last 2 fields of each featureclass as they actually are supposed to be of text type. I am not quite sure how to do so.. I guess FeatureClassToFeatureClass_conversion does the trick but I am a bit lost. This is as far as I got: (I asked the same question on Stackexchange as I need an answer asap: http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/150723/convert-field-types-in-gdb-with-python) # Import system modules
import arcpy
from arcpy import env
env.overwriteOutput = True
# Set environment settings
env.workspace = "D:\Test\2011_LongNames.gdb"
inFeatures = arcpy.ListFeatureClasses("*")
outLocation = "D:\Test\FLOAT.gdb"
outName = ??? same as inFeature
field_mapping = ???? part where it converts text fields to float fields
listFCs = [f.name for f in arcpy.ListFields(env.workspace)]
listFCs = listFCs[10:len(listFCs)-2)]
for fc in listFCs:
arcpy.FeatureClassToFeatureClass_conversion(inFeatures, outLocation, outName, field_mapping )

Hi I have many tables which I need to join to a Shapefile. Each table has to be joined to the shapefile seperately and then must be exported into a file GDB. Anyone knows how to do so with python? Is there a way that the code runs automatically through each table in the folder and joins it to the shapefile, exports it as FC in the GDB, gives it the file name of the table, then removes the join and joins the next table to the same shapefile? I work with ArcGIS 10.1 I came across this site ArcGIS Help 10.1 and also ArcGIS Help 10.1 but I have no clue how to get started to be honest..
