I'm developing an application in ArcGIS Runtime for Java 10.2.3 with basic tools like : - showing mouse cursor coordinates, - calculated distances, areas (geodesic with GeometryEngine). How can I have the precision of these calculations to provide them to the end user ?? (most of my maps will be in WGS 84, but precision will differ depending of map projection, right ?)

It is specified here that ArcGIS Runtime for Java 10.2.3 is supporting ASRP and USRP raster data format (through package/service prepared with ArcGIS Desktop I guess...), but I'm missing information about versions of these standards trully supported. Could anybody provide me this information ? Thanks.

10.2.3 is almost ready. It was delayed due to a quality issue which we went back to fix. I can't commit to a date, but watch out for an announcement in the next few days. I will post up the new features in a separate post when we release, but I can say that we are supporting Java 8. Great great news for Java 8 🙂 It's quite exciting to know it's coming really soon... Thank you.

We are migrating our current project to Java 8, so any info from ESRI would be appreciate about next release date (10.2.3 ?) for ArcGIS Runtime for Java. Also will it support Java 8 ? (really hope so) And could we know what will this release include ? Thanks.

I asked already the same question in this forum, and answer was clear : Finally, although you can add any object to the attributes the underlying core code will only support the types allowed by ESRI servers e.g. numbers, strings, dates etc. This means that your object will be turned into a string by calling toString on it since it is not one of the recognised types. original post here !

I'm looking for detailed information on How to prepare a deployment for our application for Linux platform (Redhat or Ubuntu). Today we have install ArcGIS RUntime SDK for Java 10.2 on Windows computers for development (IDE Eclipse). But when I'm using the tool Deployment Builder, Ican't choose a "Linux" platform, only "Windows 32 bit" and "Windows 64 bit" are available. On ArcGIS for Developer page "Deploy your application", I can't find doicumentation for Linux deployment. Thanks in advance for any tips on this.

Apart from the console output, are you seeing any other issues when getting your buffered image from the symbol dictionary? Apart from this messages, all is working fine, with same behavior than version 10.1.1. But we definitly didn't have theses annoying messages with same SIC... so something has changed. Theses messages appear in console ouput sometines during execution but mainly when exiting JVM. I guess I'm also interested why you extract the buffered image from the symbol dictionary and add that as a picture marker graphic? This isn't the way we indended these graphics to be added to the map. Your method will work, but the message processor is how we had intended these items to be displayed: - The purpose of the getSymbolImage method on the symbol dictionary is to make a picker or a swatch - You will need to do your own labelling if you don't use the message processor - If you display lots of images which are the same you will use more system resources than if you had chosen to display via the message processor. We've put lots of effort into optimising the message processor for displaying 1000s of items. - You won't be able to display anything other than point symbols. Line and area symbol types will not work using your method. I think these are what you call your tactical graphics. Thank you fro providing these arguments in choosing Meassge Processor instead of our current way, it will definitly be discussed with my team leaders... However for now we have a limited use of Military Symbology, onyl for points, we will not use line or aea symbols, neither labels, and in 10.1.1 we wanted to be able to manage different symbol size, which was not possible, as only a scale factor could be changed in json file for all messages. And for now, we don't have performances issues. This explain our choice... If you need any help with using the messge processor then feel free to ask. We've got a message processor example in our sample application which you can take a look at. Thanks, I already played with your samples using message processor, and will not hesitate to come back to you if necessary on this subject. In the meantime, could you tell me why we are getting these messages in 10.2, is it from bad SIC ? or is it because of Dictionary ? and will it be fixed for next version ?

When migrating our project from ArcGIS Runtime 10.1.1 to 10.2, we face new exception messages from ArcGIS using Military Symbology : --> Unexpected Bad JSON string for Id: SINSTALLF or --> Unexpected Bad JSON string for Id: SMO ... when using SIC code like : "EFFPK----------", "SFGPEXI---MO---", ... We are not using MessageProcessor, but we get Military Symbols by code from MIL-STD-2525C Dictionary (same standard than before) with getSymbolImage(), then apply this BufferedImage as PictureMarkerSymbol. This error messages appear when exiting the application, sometimes during it's execution. is this a known issue ?

The new method geodesicEllipse() of GeometryEngine allow us to create geodesic ellipses... but API Reference documentation is wrong about Major Axis Direction here : - it's in Degrees, O is East, but it's measured counter-clockwised !! (like with ArcObjects). Second thought is that it would be nice to have another reference system for the direction : like azimuth, in degrees, O is North (true North) and it's measured clockwise.

What kind of layers are you adding to the JMap ? dynamic layer from local map package, online web service, local tiled layer ? In case you are loading a TPK or MPK file, as a resource file, it's working in local because the file is accessible, but in deployment your resource file are in the jar... so you need to deploy or copy them outside the jar file for deployment. I hope this can help you.
