@MErikReedAugusta Hit the nail right on the head. Yes, I can do option 1 or 2. The proposed solution is what I’m after. It’s a tiny thing but one that I continually wish was there. I do it often enough that I thought other people might appreciate this idea as well.

When I am in Catalog and have multiple feature classes selected, I would like the option of sending the data to a new or existing map as a new group layer. So in this menu, You would also see Add to Current Map as a New Group Layer and Add New Group Layer to New>.

Yes. That's exactly what I mean. 🙂 I have done your workflow before. It gets the job done, but it would be nicer if there was only 1 click to get there.

I would like to see "Open folder location" in the list of things we can do after running a tool or exporting a map/layout. Often times, when I'm exporting things, my very next step when the export is complete is to share it with someone. It would be nice to be able to select that from ArcGIS Pro and not have to open Windows Explorer. Same thing with running a geoprocessing tool.

I had my license checked out when our license server went down. It's still down and we don't know when it will be back up. I assigned myself a license from AGO, but now I can't even get Pro to open because it wants me to check my license back in.

@schenardi Good to know! Thanks. I was going to test that out with one of my smaller packages today.

I can't believe this has been out there for a year and only has two kudos. This whole process is lame. I've spent more time than I'd like to admit trying to figure out the update/replace process, and whether or not the Hosted Tile layer is connected to the Package and if I have to update both or just one. Or if I can delete the package. I've decided that I'll keep both updated and also share the package on our open data site. And I haven't even started figuring out the scripting. At least we can use the Vector Tile Style Editor and only have to update the "source" hosted tile layer.

I know just enough about ArcPy to break things. LOL. This ended up working well for me because I'm hoping to use it in an arcade script to calculate a field based on how they are grouped in the symbology pane. I was able to use excel to format the lists as a variable, and do a copy paste.

If anybody is looking for a work around on this... Take a screen grab of the symbology pane and save it as a JPG. Convert to an Adobe PDF, then edit the text. You can copy and paste from there. It's ugly. It's time consuming, but it's less time consuming than creating the table from scratch.

Thanks @HeatherWidlund ! I ended up building it in Experience Builder. I did have to go in and create a "pseudo" layer to get it to work. So I have a Parcels layer and a Buffered Parcels layer. I search using the Parcels Layer and Select the buffered parcels with the buffer. Just for fun I went in and tried making the Instant App with the two layers and it worked. So... Long Story Short, the parcel you need a buffer for has to be in a different layer than the parcels being selected to make a buffer. I think I'll keep the ExB app. Most of the time our users are using the tax ID, but I would like to also add "search by address". So, they will search for the address, when selected it will select the parcel, then they can do the buffer.

OK. What am I missing? How do I get the buffer to run? I have this set up to select from my parcels and to use the parcels as the address list. I enter in my parcel number and it gets selected. I have 500 Feet set up as my search distance. I have no buffer. I click Done and the only parcel selected is the one I search for.

It looks like this idea is the same as one that I'm thinking of. I would like to set up portal connections to have two users connect to my enterprise Portal and two users connect to my ArcGIS Online account. In both cases one of the users is "me" in my planning department role and the other user is the admin of the accounts. That way when I switch portals I can choose if I am using my planning user or if I'm using my admin user.

Just throwing it out there that I'm in 2.8.1 and the issue is still here. I used the workaround, plus turned off the synchronization and then it works. It should also be noted that the legend items weren't spaced correctly initially. They were overlapping. This was fixed using the work arounds supplied.

I do something similar to what @RandyCasey suggests. I have one project named "Working". Any time I have a one-off map, or just need to do something quick, I use that project. I have used the Map Notes as @KoryKramer suggested, but that adds a lot of noise(?) to the project. I have a scratch point, line and polygon layer in the default working geodatabase. That seems to fit my needs pretty well.
