I tried rotating the dataframe, but the rasters still align with the original position. I think for now I will use a different projection so that it lines up when reprojected to albers (distorts area but rotates proper).

I am creating 20 km raster cells around earthquake points in arc desktop 10.1. Using a conic projection, I would like the cells to cells to line up with true north rather than the edges of my layout. Is there a way to do this? I tried creating the rasters in a different projection (create in wgs84 and project in albers equal area conic did the trick, but with the wrong size) but have found no solutions yet for rotating individual rasters around their centroid.

I'm using a canada albers equal area conic projection, and would like to rotate the map so that the y-axis lines up with true north. Obviously this will have some error since each graticule varies but is there a way to find the angle between latitude lines and the true north axis? 20 degree rotation sets north to be very close but I would prefer a more qualitative method if possible. This may not pertain to arcgis pro since I'm using arcmap 10.1 but i had trouble finding the right group.

This helps- I've rarely used field delimiters being new to arcpy so I'll do some reading.

Thank you! I'm still getting an issue as follows: An invalid SQL statement was used. [SELECT OBJECTID FROM polygons WHERE "band_number" = 'Band ' + str(i) ] I'm guessing it's an error with quotation marks or spacing of some sort, so I'm trying to change it around here.

Is there a way to loop this function so that I'm not retyping it each time? I want to select and write to the attribute table for 3 bands, but am lost on how to loop this. See code below: import arcpy arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management("Strain Regions","NEW_SELECTION",'''"band_number" = 'Band 1' ''') arcpy.SelectLayerByLocation_management("Earthquakes","COMPLETELY_WITHIN","Strain Regions",'',"ADD_TO_SELECTION") arcpy.AddField_management("Earthquakes",'region2', "TEXT") arcpy.CalculateField_management("Earthquakes","region2",'"band 1"') arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management("Strain Regions","CLEAR_SELECTION") arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management("Earthquakes","CLEAR_SELECTION") arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management("Strain Regions","NEW_SELECTION",'''"band_number" = 'Band 2' ''') arcpy.SelectLayerByLocation_management("Earthquakes","COMPLETELY_WITHIN","Strain Regions",'',"ADD_TO_SELECTION") arcpy.AddField_management("Earthquakes",'region2', "TEXT") arcpy.CalculateField_management("Earthquakes","region2",'"band 2"') arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management("Strain Regions","CLEAR_SELECTION") arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management("Earthquakes","CLEAR_SELECTION") arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management("Strain Regions","NEW_SELECTION",'''"band_number" = 'Band 3' ''') arcpy.SelectLayerByLocation_management("Earthquakes","COMPLETELY_WITHIN","Strain Regions",'',"ADD_TO_SELECTION") arcpy.AddField_management("Earthquakes",'region2', "TEXT") arcpy.CalculateField_management("Earthquakes","region2",'"band 3"') arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management("Strain Regions","CLEAR_SELECTION") arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management("Earthquakes","CLEAR_SELECTION")
