Selecting a style for preview only works for vector tile services in Web Mercator projection. When previewing a style based on any other projections, the map is white. The content is there "somewhere", but completely wrong extent. This can easily be reproduced by trying eg. this style in "British National Grid": https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=2d5a797a822b462e9aa5a6bdbf34bf2f

Thanks Florian CADOZ - i didn't see that thread before I posted the question. I ended up creating a custom widget that uses the _QueryableLayerSourcePopup-class. And removing the first radio-button (select from map) using css, and activating the second on startup. It's a good enough solution for now. It would be great if you tell me when you have something up on GitHub. Robert Scheitlin - thanks for the tip, but that widget was slightly too simple (just swapping webmap using a url-parameter). I guess Esri Inc will come up with a widget for this use-case soon, as it is a fairly natural functionallity in AWAB.

It would be great if there was a widget that let the user search for and add content from AGOL. It could be a UI similar to what is used in the Builder/Admin when searching for items belonging to a group, an organization or shared with everyone. Has anyone seen this as a custom widget or heard any rumors regarding this?

Shawna Ernst - did you find a solution to this? I'm having the exact same problem. Works fine in ArcCatalog, but not from Python. The BuildNetwork-process takes time in Python, so something is happening. But when I look at the Network Dataset in ArcCatalog afterwards, its empty and "Not built".

It looks like it doesn't need to registered on the DBMS, but on all machines using or editing the Network Dataset. After several hours of more testing, it looks like I found the reason. My mistake. The custom solver was built using ArcObjects SDK version 10.2, while the processing was done on a machine with 10.3.1. After building the DLL against the latest libraries, everything seems to be working fine. The thing that confused me was that the DLL built using SDK 10.2 was working fine in ArcGIS for Server 10.3.1, and also in ArcCatalog 10.3.1 if background GP-processing was disabled. But from 32-bit Python it failed.

Using Python we update the source features for several network datasets and re-build them every night. The data is stored in SDE (MSSQL), and the Feature Datasets are registered as versioned. And the data is used in AGS routing services. Everything works fine, until I add a network attribute with a custom solver. Then editing the source features for any of the Network Datasets we have fails with a generic error message. If I delete the network attribute that uses the custom evaluator, everything works fine again. The custom evaluator is based on a sample from Esri, and works fine in action.

jeff.pace is dead on. I just opened a web site that checks for touch events ("ontouchstart" in window || false). On my laptop, which has problems with mouse-events in Chrome and Firefox, it opens the mobile version of the web site on these two browsers, but on IE it opens the regular web site. And the ArcGIS JS API mouse-events only works in IE for me. My problem is probably that I have installed some Microsoft SDK (Surface or something) that sets my laptop as "touch supported". I also have problems with mouse-events in some Dojo dijits (dropdown button, resizable content pane etc.), in the same browsers. So I bet there is a check for "touch support" in the ArcGIS API for JavaScript (and dojo). And the solution is probably to also check for mouse-support, and allow for mouse-events.

Thank you Kelly. I didn't notice the meta-tag. Now it works great. I pretty sure "IE=Edge" means the highest version possible, as opposed to a specific version.

Hi, In the release notes for v3.4 it says "Support for Internet Explorer 10 and it's touch event model". I have tried a few of the samples on a Windows Phone 8 running IE 10, and touch gestures doesn't seem to work. Is this supposed to work? Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

I have the same problem. In the last few releases of the JS API (I think its after 3.1), map navigation in Chrome and Firefox has stopped working (mouse and keyboard - everything except clicking the +/- buttons). IE 10 works fine. And all the browsers works fine on other machines. I'm running W8. It's quite disturbing to all of a sudden have to do all my JS development in IE 🙂 It would be great if someone could come up with a "fix" for this...

Not possible? Then I will have to go for the internal, undocumented method: esri.tasks.PrintTask._getPrintDefinition(map); And then add the baseMap-parameter manually.

I'm creating a JS web application where the map is populated from a WebMap on AGOL. The user can do changes to the map (graphics, layers etc.). And then I would like to upload the map to AGOL again (using the Portal REST API). How can I create a valid WebMap-json from the map? The only place I can see that has the functionallity, is inside the PrintTask. I'm hoping for a better approach than hijacking the print-request. Thanks.

In this case, the customer is using the REST API directly to export images. But they might still do some scripting to retreive the correct layerIDs etc. from the service (in case something changes). You are not missing anything 🙂 -Joachim

Thank you for the reply. I was afraid that was the answer... That makes it quite complex to change just the symbology of one out of a few hundred layers in an existing service (I know that this number of layers is not recommended - but sometimes it has to be this way). Anyway, thanks.

Hi, We have a rather complex dynamic map service with a lot of layers. And we would like to change the renderer on one of the layers in the export call, using dynamicLayers. But when we do so, only this single layer is drawn. How can we alter a renderer using dynamicLayers without having to supply all the rest of the layers along in the dynamicLayers-parameter? Here is a sample, where I alter the renderer for the highways, and only this layer is drawn. http://servicesbeta2.esri.com/arcgis/rest/services/USA/MapServer/export?bbox=-106.08211428430971%2C35.08449917393321%2C-92.90307849983995%2C42.37950075850303&bboxSR=4326&layers=&layerDefs=&size=400%2C300&imageSR=4326&format=png8&transparent=true&dpi=96&time=&layerTimeOptions=&dynamicLayers=[{%22id%22%3A101%2C%22source%22%3A{%22type%22%3A%22mapLayer%22%2C%22mapLayerId%22%3A1}%2C%22drawingInfo%22%3A{%22renderer%22%3A%0D%0A{%0D%0A+++%22type%22%3A+%22simple%22%2C%0D%0A+++%22symbol%22%3A+{%0D%0A++++%22type%22%3A+%22esriSLS%22%2C%0D%0A++++%22style%22%3A+%22esriSLSSolid%22%2C%0D%0A++++%22color%22%3A+[%0D%0A+++++255%2C%0D%0A+++++0%2C%0D%0A+++++0%2C%0D%0A+++++255%0D%0A++++]%2C%0D%0A++++%22width%22%3A+2%0D%0A+++}%2C%0D%0A+++%22label%22%3A+%22%22%2C%0D%0A+++%22description%22%3A+%22%22%0D%0A++}%0D%0A%0D%0A%0D%0A}}]&gdbVersion=&f=html Thanks!
