Curtis, Thanks for your response. I did as you said. Here are screenshots of the steps. The model ran. While it ran, it seemed to iterate through all the rasters. However, it only created one polygon, the last one in my list.

Thanks, Dan, for replying. Very sorry that I was unclear; I was trying to use the iterator and model inside the model window. I did not try to use the iterator or model in Python. I only exported the model to Python because I thought it might make the model steps appear clear without having to make a screen shot of the model. I should have wrote that. I wonder if the problem was with using .tifs as my input rasters, instead of the native format, .grid or whathaveyou.

Tried to use model builder to convert several rasters to polygons. Here is the script exported to Python: # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- # --------------------------------------------------------------------------- # convertraster.py # Created on: 2017-04-24 11:38:52.00000 # (generated by ArcGIS/ModelBuilder) # Description: # --------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Import arcpy module import arcpy # Load required toolboxes arcpy.ImportToolbox("Model Functions") # Local variables: copiesx = "C:\\Documents\\GIS\\temp\\copiesx" tx_107_tif = "C:\\Documents\\GIS\\temp\\copiesx\\tx_107.tif" v_name__shp = "C:\\Documents\\GIS\\temp\\shapx\\%name%.shp" # Process: Iterate Rasters arcpy.IterateRasters_mb(copiesx, "", "", "NOT_RECURSIVE") # Process: Raster to Polygon arcpy.RasterToPolygon_conversion(tx_107_tif, v_name__shp, "NO_SIMPLIFY", "Value") I've restarted ArcMap (10.2. ) several times because the model keeps failing with the following message: ERROR 010157: Unable to open feature class ... Failed to execute (Raster to Polygon). I checked the error code. '... This may be due to incorrect paths or lack of permissions to access folders.' Don't think it's that, I know where the files are and made them myself, I have the permissions. It also says that the files could be corrupt, but I can load the files without problem. I executed one Raster to Polygon outside the model and it worked. Any guesses how to get the model to work?

Dan, I played around with Con and Combine. I think the both of those will do what I would like. I appreciate the help.

I am using National Land Cover Data from Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics Consortium. I am looking at central states for changes in forest versus grassland cover classes between 2012 and 2015. The data are rasters with land cover classes that have names and values for the classes and area values for the class coverages. How do I find the change from, for example, mixed forest (#143) to shrubland (#152), during the years mentioned above? I am hoping to get a new raster that will show where the changes occur and that includes a table with some kind of count or indication for the amount of land changed. This is probably a basic type of analysis, but something totally new to me. Would I do this with Raster Calculator or another function in the Spatial Analyst toolbox? I'm not even sure how ask the calculator for a specific class in a field, in a layer. For example: Layer_2012["Class_Name"="Shrubland"] or some such.

Xander, the projections match for the masks and the raster. I did not change the extent, so it'd be whatever the default is... I think a reply after yours hit the nail with pointing out that I had used "%Value%", instead of "%Name%", so you were on to something. Thanks for the help!

I am trying to use Model Builder with Extract with Mask. The masks (polygons) are in a file database and the raster is a standalone GRID. When I run the model it exits with an error that is the Table name is invalid. I tried to investigate the meaning and I came across two explanations. One: don't start names with digits. Two: names can't be longer than 13 characters. I think I've met those restrictions, but I still get the error. I think I also read somewhere that you should save to a database, but I swear I've done something similar to this months back and saved in a folder without problem. I'm out of ideas at this point.

"With that said, the units reported within a feature class' attribute table are generally calculated according to the feature class coordinate reference systme's linear unit, not the data frame's reference system." I was not aware of that. Thanks, Darren.

I know this thread is well over a year old, so there is small chance that this will be answered, but I'll give it a try anyway. I am using ArcMap 10.2. I looked in the data frame properties under Edit and there is a "meter" unit for display, but not "square meter". Should there be a square meter unit?

Adrian, I was not in an edit session. I did restart ArcMap. The shape was only in ArcMap. Thanks for the suggestions, but I still have the problem.
