I just toggled both on, both off, and one and not the other and none of them help with what's going on. Its not when I'm moving the vertex, its after I move it to where i want it, when the change happens it moves exactly how i want it, then the entire polygon remains intact but shifts several feet (in this scale its a small amount, but these are tight polygons and have to be).

"Stretch geometry proportionately when moving a vertex" is not on, however the topology one is on.

I'm doing a project in ArcGIS Pro where polygons are incredibly important to separate data from one another. We run a tool that draws the polygons themselves, and then finds errors where overlaps happened. Part of what I'm doing is cleaning up those overlaps to run the tool again until its clean. In order to fix them, I just have to grab the polygon, edit vertices and reroute a few things where they arent touching. Easy, right? Well it was. I'm not sure what happened, but now every time I edit vertices on a polygon and let it process, it moves the entire polygon a good bit. In doing so it excludes data that needs to be in there by bumping it out of the polygon, and causes more overlaps. I didnt catch it at first because it wasnt doing it for a few days. But when i made fixes, it created a whole slew of other issues. I'm now seeing it, and have to snap to a reference point, and use the move tool to move the entire polygon back to its original position. This obviously is not ideal. Any ideas on what would be causing the polygon to move? When editing vertices im VERY careful that i'm only grabbing the vertex to move, as in im not grabbing the polygon line and moving it. This has gotten really frustrating!

Hello everyone, I am currently using a different software for work, but accessing the attribute table for each individual point or line is very cumbersome for the software we are using. I was asked to try and get a free ArcViewer to import a shapefile and see if I can access the attributes there. Well the short answer is I can, but not quite the way we want it. When I go to display the attributes, everything is horizontal. Meaning each field is shown left to right, with the data underneath. I need this to be vertical, with each field going from top to bottom with data showing on the right. Side note: I somehow was able to get a separate window with the table formatted how I wanted it, but it was random chance and I have no idea what I did in order to duplicate it. In other words: I KNOW IT'S POSSIBLE, but I can not figure it out. I have attached the current format shown in ArcExplorer. Thank you for your help

You are amazing, thank you so much. So far in this class it has been difficult because the prof expects us to learn withotu much guidance other than vague walkthroughs in the assigned labs that dont really show me how to do anything the question asks. The explanations on this was great i really appreciate you taking the time to help me learn this, a majority of the labs i have been searching ESRI extensively to find out what im trying to do is simple with the right codes -.- Its a graduate class offered to undergrads to help us land jobs after finishing school

Okay, so i had to take this copy of the random_sample.py script and call it random_percent.py. Now im being asked to modify the script so that the third parameter is a percentage of the number of input records as an integer between 1 and 100. And then modify the script tool settings so that the input for this parameter is validated on the tool dialog box. I'm still relatively new to python so it all sounds like jargon to me and after trying multiple times to figure it out i still can't find the proper code to use. I'm using python in ArcMap, and have read the chapter in pyrhon scripting for ArcGIS and am still stumped. How do i do this?

I have been working on this for hours and am getting increasingly frustrated. i do not know how to get these answers or what code to put in. I have followed through all of the lab walkthroughs and have searched online, nothing is providing me with a proper answer. I dont necessarily need someone to figure it out for me but i need something to put into arcMap python that will provide me with these answers. An explanation on what to do for each step with code to type in would be appreciated. I have been provided with data from the lab exercise, however i would have to attach over 20 items to provide them. So as i said a code sequence to get me to where i need to be would work for me Challenge 1: Write a script that reads all the feature classes in a workspace and prints the name of each feature class and the geometry type of that feature class in the following format: streams is a point feature class Challenge 2: Write a script that reads all the feature classes in a personal or file geodatabase and copies only the polygon feature classes to a new file geodatabase. You can assume there are no feature datasets in the existing data, and the feature classes can keep the same name.
