The "Beta Map Viewer" is no longer in Beta, but "zoom to a selected feature in table" is still missing. This is pretty much the basic and standard capability for any GIS application these days, why the product develop team left it out ? Yes I could throw the web map to Experience Builder to achieve that, but no I don't feel comfortable yet on Experience Builder as itself has a lot of other issues.

Thanks AaronPulver for the reply. I'm looking forward in the new year to see the contingent values been supported in feature service. Saying that, the demand of cascading dropdown has been there for long time from many since the ear of Collector or earlier. Though the indention to have form inputs restricted by data schema is good for data integrity, the way how it works in Collector / AFM actually put a lot limitations when design form in this app. In the field, we use mobile form is not just a place to enter in the data, but also to guide users through questions and options by providing them the required info. For example, in a hydrant inspection and test form (a frequently used example by ESRI), user wants to know what the valid flow volume and pressure should be for a specific type of hydrant by pick the hydrant type in a dropdown list. Sound reasonable and simple workflow, but I couldn’t find an easy way to do this in Collector or AFM. I thought about using related table to do that, but that doesn’t work because the form won’t be able to read the related table before it’s saved. I also tried putting the description to the coded domain text, but it doesn’t work if the description text is more than couple of words, and it put everything in one line. Another example, how can I set the form to calculate Input3 by adding the result form Input1 and Input2. At the moment you can only add to Collector / AFM form if it’s in the table schema, the table schema directly dictates the form UI, which I think could be improved by allowing add any form elements regardless the table schema, and have a form engine to pipe the inputs to the valid output that goes into the database. It also saving us from saving the intermedia data that used to generate the final output and we don’t need to run post-process in the database to calculate the intermedia data to the final data we needed. Seems there’re still plenty for AFM to catch up in terms of form design capabilities. There’re plenty of good mobile form apps out there hope it can provide some good examples.

Hi, I'm wonder if cascading dropdown is possible in ArcGIS Field Maps form. I couldn't find a way to do it so far. It is one of the necessary widget s / capabilities and basic requirement if you want to build people an efficient mobile data collecting app. I'm surprised it's not covered by ESRI's new-era mobile data collection solution. No, Survey123 is not the alternative for us and we really don't want to use it.

agreed. I'm using 10.6 and getSample support renderRule in mosaicRule. however, it still returns the raw pixel value instead of the rendered results.

Thanks for the solution. I agree found it's very inconvenient to lose some of the basic functions in arcpy.mapping module , which makes it unnecessarily difficult to deal with the layer-type result returned by the Toolbox arcpy functions.

hi Lynsey, thanks for the suggestion. I have no problem to publish a geoprocessing service to our server. However, my challenge is, some of the arpcy functions that only available under the Python 3.x version, (e.g. AddFields_magagments, which allows adding multiple fields to a feature class at one time) is not available on the ArcGIS Server (10.6.1) that we have. I still can't see how will publish a gp service using Python script can fix that.

Can't agree more. I always have the same question about Collector vs Survey123 vs Explorer for ArcGIS, and the need of ArcGIS QuickCapture, and now Operation Dashboard vs Insight vs ArcGIS Business Analyst (yep another one). If look at the long ESRI product list, some of them overlap a lot in function-wise, and some could be merged and configured into one. For example, Tracker for ArcGIS, couldn't it be added as a configurable function in Collector, and throw in the other 20% functions that Collector doesn't have in Survey123 and Explorer to one product? Can't the same chart module be used in both OD and Insight to provide the same user experience and capabilities? For example, we need to track our field crews while they capture field data. With the current options, they have to turn on both apps, and potentially login twice. (BTW, tracking function was not migrated to the new Collector).The effort is doubled to set up, deploy, and manage the apps. OK maybe some of these products have been designed to target a certain group of users with a pre-determination of what the users should need or focus on. But I don't find ourselves in those user groups. Personally I'd like to see ESRI focus on making the core products and the backbone technologies more advanced, modularised and extendable.

Hi Rene, I'm using Typescript 3.8.3, and ArcGIS JS 4.15 and having similar issue in which the compiler reports errors as below on autocasting Color from string. The complied js works fine but it's a bit eyesore to have see this in VS code. I've added "skipLibCheck": true in the tsconfig.json within the compilerOptions but that didn't fix my problem. wonder if you could help me. thanks. view

I have to give you a thumb up as none of ESRI's doc or webinar I have searched gave a clear example of how to use Layer as the input, because there're some many definition/interpolation of what a Layer is, not to mention have to convert it to Layer class using arcpy.mapping to in order to use the field tokens. thank you.

that's an example of poor error message that doesn't really help at all. I've tried many ways couldn't work it out. Here's a sample image service at from ESRI, I'm wondering if ESRI could provide a working example with this service. The code snippet provided in the help doc refers to fake server which could be tested. Get Samples: (CharlotteLAS)

Hi, I'm using ArcGIS Server 10.6.1. published a map service with Dynamic Layer supported, layer source is from a SDE feature class. My question is, does the REST API support using subquery in Layer Definitions of the Export operation? seems it works fine with normal where clause like ID in (1,2,3,4), but when I tried insert a subquery to another SDE feature class (in the same SDE databased, owned by the same database user), it will returned with 'Invalid 'layerDefs' is specified'. The layer definition is like below, and select from the subquery works fine in ArcMap. Thanks. Layer Definitions: { "0" : "OBJECTID NOT IN (Select OBJECTID from TEST.gis.anotherFeatureClass)"}
