I'm trying to add a field in my attribute table to calculate square meters of some polygons using Area/1000000 but when I use the field calculator it says error in processing, check Geoprocessing Results window. So when I check this is the message: What can I do to fix this? The fields are compatible, they're both type "Double" an decimal places the same. I checked the source of the dataset and it's the same as the rest. What could be the issue here?

I'm trying to add two points on a map representing two sampling locations, but I don't know if I'm doing the .csv document correctly or the coordinates numbering or what, because the points are not showing up on the map. The coordinate system is NAD27 (USGS) but it doesn't specify anything else. Please HELP!

I have the 10.3.1, the file was created with 10.4.1. I tried the save as copy function to make it compatible, didn't work. So now I'm downloading the 10.4.1 version to see if that will fix it. If not, what could it be? There are two .dbf folders with the .mxd file, so I guess all the info needed is there.

It doesn't even show that, it just stays all blank. No question marks, nothing. It only shows up in the Catalog, where the file is located, but no other action develops.

Yes it did! Thanks. I'm just really new at this, currently on an independent study course on this because nobody else signed up for the class. It's a nightmare

Yes, the .zip file has 7 other files as you described. So those files are just part of the shp file that does open up, and are not supposed to open individually, right?

I'm just trying to know if just the .shp files are the only ones that ArcMap will open up in the folder, even if the .zip file contains other types of file formats. Here are the files of the first .zip folder I tried.

I downloaded a .zip folder which contains all of the formats you just mentioned, but when I open the decompressed file folder on ArcMap only the .shp file shows up. Is this normal or are the other types of files supposed to show?

Okay so I moved the .dbf file, for example, to another directory, but when it opened a General Failure Message appeared on the bottom right of the screen and messed everything up. HELP!!!

I'm trying to create a new level of data on my map but ArcMap will only recognize .shp files, how can I fix this? I already decompressed the entire .zip folder.
