Hi, I am processing in GeoHMS to create a watershed. The catchment grid created has gaps in between. Surprisingly, in my first attempt of preprocessing, this issue didnot occur. later, I had to reshape the dem for outlet point, and since then, there has been gaps in the catchment grid. I have even burned the streams into the dem, and have done a no.of trials by adjusting the threshold area, but still the issue persists Kindly help. I am using ArcGIS 10, and Aster dem.

Hi, I am trying to import excel data in DSS using the options- ..dataentry-->Import-->excel My excel sheet is in .xls format . can be seen in the attachments. When I try to import all the data at once, nothing happens, there is no confirmation dialog box opening. At the same time, single column data is getting imported. Kindly help if anyone has used this method. Also, the HEC DSS excel addin doesnot work in my excel version 2007, it gives an compilation error saying no project/lib file found.

Try this... Make sure you are not looking at any of the project files (mxd, or layers) in Arc Catalog. Close Arc Catalog, or any other program that could be previewing your files. This works. Thanks Mark. all I did was turned off all layers in the dataframe. and project got successfully created 🙂

Hi, Usually, for errors of this type, you need to check the path of your file location, as in if it matches with the path set in APUtilities Location.

I think there is no option in GeoHMS to autocalculate the parameters except for going with TR-55 method, where the parameters are calculated in the excel sheet. Other than this, if you have accessiblity to ArcView , you can install CRWR-Prepro tool which is similar to preprocessing tool like GeoHMS and is supported by HMS too. Here, the parameters are auto calculated.

I could find a work around to this error. Not sure if technically its right. What I did was after completing all the steps upto "Create HMS project " . I opened a new .mxd, added all the project files and then created the HMS project. .hms project was created successfully. As of now I am not facing this error again, while working on other basins. Maybe it was some software glitch earlier.

I am using ArcGIS 10 and Geo-Ras 10. I am able to create a GIS project, export all data to HEC-RAS, run my unsteady simulation, and import back into Arc-GIS just fine. I then set up my layers, import the layers, and do a water surface generation. However, on the last step, Floodplain Delineation Using Rasters, the program crashes. I have created new projects, redone all steps, deleted files, saved files locally, restarted the computer. I can't think of anything else that would cause the issue. Any advice would be appreciated. I have also done a work around, using the TIN minus to generate what I need, but I have many projects that I need to continually do this for, and would like to figure this out. Nick were you finally able to resolve the issue??? am facing a similar problem.

Am facing a similar issue but with a different process. The initial steps, i.e exporting data to HEC GeoRAS and then exporting it back to GIS, all went fine. Could even create the water surface profiles also. But when I try to delineate flood plain , after a long runtime process of 45 mins it shows the following error, as in the depth profile is created but the the boundary profile is not created. Please refer the attachment and kindly help.
