Thanks for the response, Curtis. I realized after a bit of digging that Join Field gives you a permanent join and as you point out, does not make sense with Remove Join. I’m a little confused on your point about Add Join both adding the join and calculating a field. I don’t see an option in the Add Join dialog for calculating a field. I used Add Join and then Calculate Field and things seem to be working fine. Karl

I was originally using the Join Field command. I tried using Add Join instead and it worked. It seems the Add Join command retains the full fieldname format (LayerName.Fieldname), which is required to distinguish each of the join layers since they all have the same fieldnames. The Join Field command seemed to refer only to FieldName, without reference to the Join Layer. Thanks for all responses.

The target feature class and each of the join feature layers have different names. The fieldnames in each of the join feature layers are the same. I have tried doing a Remove Join but received an error message. Creation of a sub-model sounds interesting.

Each feature class has approx. 2000 records, as does the final joined feature class.

I am trying to update several data fields in a feature class using ModelBuilder. To update I need to join 5 different join layers in succession to the target feature class. Each of the 5 join layers have the same field names. The first join/Calculate Field works as expected. But successive joins/Calculate Fields seem to default back to the 1st join layer such that the fields in the target layer always get updated with only the data from the first join layer, I assume because it looks for the appropriate field name in the full joined target layer and finds the first field with that name. I have tried removing the joins after the Calculate Field operation is completed for each join layer and then creating a new join and Calculate Field for each successive join layer. I have also tried referencing the full field name (ie. Layername.Fieldname) to distinguish between each of the field names in the successive join layers. It still seems to want to use only the first referenced join layer/field in the 2-5 joins.

I published as a map service, without Feature Access. I tried again with Feature Access but received a couple of error messages. The first indicated that the data had to be registered to activate Feature Access (can data from a file geodatabase be registered?). The second error indicated that group layers are not allowed when Feature Access is activated. Grouping of layers is critical for my application. I will try creating separate services: 1 for the grouped layers and a 2nd for the service containing attachments.

I have a file GDB feature class with attachments. I want to make it accessible on ArcGIS Online. I have published it as a map service to ArcGIS Server, but when I open the service in ArcMap the attachments are not available (I assume they will also not be if I access the ArcGIS Server service in AGOL). I can publish directly to ArcGIS Online without going through ArcGIS Server, and the attachments are available to view. However, would prefer to use ArcGIS Server to retain some of the groupings in my map.

I am working with ArcGIS Operations Dashboard and want to make a simple dashboard to display feature details (including associated attachments) on the left side panel and a map on the right. I cannot seem to get the map and the displayed record(s) to talk to each other, ie. for the point on the map to be highlighted when the record on the left is selected. It seems to be a simple thing to do, maybe more suited to one of the ArcGIS Online apps than Dashboard but I cannot get it to work in either. Popups will give you something similar, but are not as elegant in my opinion and give a hyperlink to the photo attachment, rather than having the photo appear at the bottom of the panel. Does anyone know of a way to make the map and Feature Details widget talk to each other?

I have created a script tool that will ask a user to select start and end dates within which records will be selected from a feature class. The field containing the dates is formatted as type Date. I want to use those dates within an sql query to select the records, which requires that they be formatted as dates, but the GetParameterAsText command converts the user selection to a string, which means I have to convert back to date in the code. The code I am using is as follows: #get start and end dates for report generation dateFilter1 = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(0) dateFilter2 = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(1) print dateFilter1 print dateFilter2 #convert date inputs from string to date format dateDateFilter1 = datetime.strptime (dateFilter1, '%m/%d/%Y') dateDateFilter2 = datetime.strptime (dateFilter2, '%m/%d/%Y') When I look at the attribute table, the date shows up in the format "30/09/2016" for Sept 30, 2016, for example, which does not match what I have in the code above. However, if I run the script tool and select dates say between Oct 2, 2016 and Oct 5, 2016 ("02/10/2016" and "05/10/2016" in the attribute table), I get the records I expect. However, if I select dates between Sept. 29, 2016 and Oct 5, 2016 ("29/09/2016" and 05/10/2016") I get the following error: File "C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.2\Lib\_strptime.py", line 325, in _strptime (data_string, format)) ValueError: time data '29/09/2016' does not match format '%m/%d/%Y' This seems to suggest that the data in the date field is being read as if it was in "%d/%m/%Y" format. If I change the code so that the format for the strptime command shows "%d/%m/%Y" the script runs without error, but returns no records, which also suggests that it is reading the date in the source data as "%d/%m/%Y" (all records are in late September and early October). Can anyone tell me what might be wrong?

I am just starting out with Survey123. I have created a survey with contingent fields (ie, using the 'relevant' field in the form design spreadsheet). The survey downloads as expected and works fine within the mobile app. However, when I look at my data in Survey123 or ArcGIS Online, many of the fields are missing. It seems that only the non-contingent fields are showing up, even though I entered data in the other fields. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

I am trying to edit an application I created in web AppBuilder, but have been unable to save changes. It shows as being "Saved" in the bottom of the left panel, but it has not been saved and the "Save" button is greyed out. I have made several changes, which appear on the interface as I make them, but when I close out and open again, they have not taken effect.

I have opened a webapp I built with web AppBuilder, made some changes and want to save them but cannot find a way to do so. On the bottom of the left hand panel is a banner with "Launch", "Previews" and "Saved". Next to "Saved" is an upward arrow with options to "Save" (greyed out) and "Save As" (see attached). I've tried saving as a different app but the changes did not stick. Am I missing something? Karl
