I recently upgraded to ArcMap 10.3.1 Desktop Advanced. For the most part everything works as it did before. I did notice the copy and paste issue, which is kind of annoying, but not critical. I have had several "Serious Fatal Error" Crashes. The first involved working with labeling roads on annotation group with road classes. My task was to label every single road we have in our system for an exhibit we produce. I adjusted the attributes of the annotation class in some cases to get that label in, plus labeling using curved text. This happened 5 or 6 times performing the same task. The second involved annotating a TIF image in layout view. Occasionally we have a small project that needs design work we do in house and I have to fudge a profile view or a detail needed to submit to our governing bodies for approval. So I was really doing something GIS is not designed to do. I am taking a close look at the new profile aps in my spare time. As far as my workflow goes, neither fatal error affects the daily workflow critically.

We have a Real Time Network in Iowa through IDOT. Unfortunately, they use a 2011 version of NAD 83 which is different from the projection we use daily. I have a model that transforms the projection back and forth. ArcPad 10 does not have the 2011 instance of NAD 83 and I am hoping that ArcPad 10.2.1 does.

The NMEA output was set - but on the details page the top four boxes have to be checked for ArcPad to get the satellites from GNSS toolbox. They weren't checked. I need to upgrade the firmware, GNSS, and ArcPad and I'm searching for files and instructions to do that. I'm needing some updated projection files for the RTK IDOT network I go through that should come in the updates. If you or anyone knows where to find that, it would be greatly appreciated. Many authorized retailers disappeared for Ashtech after the Trimble buy-out. I know I found out long after the fact.

Hello, I am wondering if anyone out there using ArcPad and GPS technology has had any good/consistent experiences with GPS sub-foot technology. We have had 2 different GPS units, and neither has given us the usefulness promised. Our first, Trimble GeoXT, with sub-foot was purchased in 2007 through ESRI and there was always a problem with the software, firmware, etc. until the unit would no longer power at all. Our Trimble retailer would not work with us when we purchased the second unit (because the first unit went through ESRI and not a Trimble Retailer). The second unit is an Ashtech Mobilemapper 100 purchased in 2012 with an RTK solution which was giving us the sub-foot we needed. Now I can get a GNSS solution and see satellites, but ArcPad can't connect to get a satellite fix. I've triple checked all of the settings. The Ashtech retailer and Ashtech have dissappeared from existence. The financial outlay we've made with the results we've had just does not warrant repeat mistake or GIS time if the technology has not worked for others.. We're a water utility with under 25,000 services so this is a very big deal that promised technology does not work. I was hired to start the GIS here 9 years ago, and for the exception of GPS, our GIS program is very successful and we are happy with it. Honestly.. this reminds me of the GIS dark ages and Intergraph. So I am really hoping someone has some good/consistent experiences with GPS sub-foot accuracy that they can share with me. I was really counting on Sub-foot GPS in our overall GIS plan. Thanks, Karen Cedeno-Perdue Council Bluffs Water Works

Thanks.. That was exactly what I was looking for. We have many users in city/county that are going to be frustrated by this when they upgrade that are not in my department who are less experienced than I. We've had multiple issues with upgrading from address locators to esri software not installing. The edit workflow is just the icing on the cake. I work with line data almost exclusively, since I am the utilities biz.

Has anyone had any luck installing ArcReader 10? I am having an issues with a lap top installation not completely uninstalling old ArcReader Software so that ArcReader 10 can be installed. I am due to give a demonstration to a bunch of high school students in the morning.. belated GIS Day Demo. My demo went well with backup data on 9.3.1. However, the problem still exists on the lap top in question. For some reason ArcReader 9.2 was not completely uninstalled on this lap top before 9.3 and 9.3.1 was loaded. 9.3 removes, but then going to uninstall 9.2 it says it has 9.3 still installed and will not uninstall. As you know, all previous versions of ArcReader must be completely uninstalled to load ArcReader 10. I do have local admin rights to this laptop, but not network admin rights. Local admin rights do not have Internet access. The only possibiltiy I can think of is some sort of Internet access during the uninstall process where this would be an issue. Thoughts? Ideas? I have 11 office workstations and 8 lap tops that will have this issue. Sorry ESRI.. I don't have time to port and teach everyone ArcExplorer/ArcGlobe and I have to have a free data viewer. Mid Sized local governent does not have that kind of money for increased software or addtional GIS people.

Has anyone figured out how to continue drawing a line during the edit process in ArcMap/Info 10? I am not talking about editting, adding, or deleting a vertici in a line. In previous versions you could edit an existing line by double clicking on it in the edit environment. Once you had your line in edit mode, the draw line tools would be active so that you could continue drawing the line from the last vertex placed. Extremely handy when you are dealing with lots of features being placed along a long stretch of road, railroad, etc., in production of features.
