Looks like this is still an issue in Pro 2.9.8. We just published services that had feature classes, tables, and annotation group layers. If there is a conflict of id's between annotation layers with the same layer type or different, it does not seem to give any warnings during publish but you see that the id's get changed after publishing. It took a while to figure this out why this is happening.

It would be really nice to have this option for us. I work for utility industry and because of the integration with third party ArcGIS Pro plugin, we cannot upgrade to the latest version of Pro due to compatibility issues with the plugin. However there are lots of people who do not need to use that tool at all and they can be on the latest version of Pro.

@ZacharyHart no. ESRI suggested that we upgrade the license manager to the latest version and change the license file to use mac address of the server instead of vmid. They said that one of the customer was able to solve same issue using this approach. Otherwise they said we need to either use concurrent use license or move the license manager to a physical server. We have implemented the suggested change from ESRI by configuring the License manager to use machine name. Fingers crossed, we will see how it goes. ESRI support mentioned that the Flex licensing services is very sensitive to even the minor changes to VM configuration. Update: We have not had any issues with the license server once we changed the license file to use MAC address of the virtual machine instead of the VMID.

Our organization uses ArcGIS Online and Enterprise and assigns named user Pro licenses to users through ArcGIS Online and Enterprise. The reason we have to use Enterprise licensing also is because of Utility Network User type extension. This has turned into an admin issue and led to user confusion as we have ArcGIS Online as well as well as multiple ArcGIS Enterprise environments. I like the simplicity of named user licensing through AGOL versus running multiple license managers on Prem. It would be nice if you could consolidate the licenses you have across environments in ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise and be able to manage named user licenses through one interface.

@NajmehServatsamarein2 I found that schema lock is created by users using the file as well as ArcGIS Server processes. So you will have to make sure that no users are using the file and also stop the ArcGIS server processes that are using that file. Usually it tells you go to the folder on the File Geodatabase where your data is housed, there will be files with .lock extension prefixed by machine name which tells you which machine has created the lock. I have now automated this process using a python script which first checks for schema lock for the feature in question. If no lock exists, it deletes the entire feature class and replaces it with the updated one. If a lock exists, it only deletes individual features and I end up with an empty feature class. I then append data to the empty feature class using updated data. In theory we should be ideally using the second option but in our environment we found out that there is severe performance degradation overtime when only using only the second option.

@MichaelVolz . We had a dedicated license server before moving the license manager to Portal and we had same issues with that installation as well.

We have ArcGIS license manager installed on the same machine that has ArcGIS Enterprise Portal and clients get their ArcGIS Pro licenses through it. The license manager service randomly fails and clients get this message. When you log into the server and look at the License Server administrator, it will say that the License Server Status as not running. When you click on the Start button, nothing happens. When you open the Services console, ArcGIS License Manager and Flexnet License Manager Service status says running. Both services are running under Local System account. We then have to restart the ArcGIS License Manager service and the Flexnet License Manager service, then the License Server adminstrator will show the stratus as running without having to click the start button. The problem then goes away for a few days then reappears. Both services are set to automatically restart after failure but does not seem to make any difference. The License Manager is running on a virtual machine on Windows Server 2019.

I am also experiencing the same problem on 2.8. I am using Pycharm IDE. When I run the script, it runs with exit code 0 but the feature class is not written to the GDB. I ran the Summarize Within tool in Pro which successfully ran and created the feature class. I then copied and pasted the code in my Python script and it is still doing the same thing.

@DanPatterson @ReeseFacendini it actually did you ArcGIS Online credits when running the desktop version as well. I had the status dashboard open in ArcGIS Online when running the notebook in the desktop version, and the credit usage jumped by few hundred credits after running the notebook.

I am new to notebooks and started by working on ArcGIS Online version of notebooks to get the number of points that lies within a polygon. (features.summarize_data.aggregate_points) function. I just found out that it uses up a lots of credits in ArcGIS Online. My question is if I use the same code in the ArcGIS notebooks that came with my Pro and run it from my desktop, will it consume credits? I am aware that it will consume credits to publish features to ArcGIS Online which I am aware of but my question is does it apply to the analysis tool that I will be using? I will be importing few features from ArcGIS Online, running the function, updating features and publishing to ArcGIS Online.

I am a newbie to notebooks and I am trying to write a program which uses aggregation to find out how many points are within a polygon and append that information to a field in the same polygon. I used the aggregate points function and used it without "output_name" parameter. It ran successfully and returned a feature collection. Now, I have no clue on how to access the feature collection. Screenshot is attached. I would appreciate any help.

Hi @ColinLawrence Yes, in our case, users are getting confused. Field values which they must type in and are only supposed to hold unique values get suggestions which do not make sense. Otherwise they really love the product. Do you have an ETA on when this new update will be available?

Our users are complaining that on android devices, when they go on to add an entry to a double field(esriFieldTypeDouble), they see the field autopopulates with suggestions which does not happen on ios devices. This should not be happening since this is supposed to be a value that needs to be entered manually.

First make a backup of your Webmap in ArcGIS Online or Portal. I am not sure if there is an easier way to do this but the way I was able to get rid of the Shape field was by using ArcGIS Online Assistant. You can do a web search to find ArcGIS Online Assistant. You will then log into either ArcGIS Online or Portal depending on where your web map is hosted. Find the map that you are having issues with either through search function using item id or browsing through the interface. After you find your map, you will click on I want to dropdown menu next to the search box. From the list select view an item's JSON. You will see JSON of “Description” and “Data” sections of the Web map. Now copy and Paste the JSON of Description and Data to separate text files and save the files in a location where you can easily access it later. This is for backup purposes in case you mess things up during editing this file and your map or application becomes unusable. On the Data section there is an edit JSON button. Click on the button and the background becomes dark. This means you can now edit the file. Now open the "Data" text file you just saved for backup and do a search on your text editor with the layer name. For example, in my case my popup for the layer name “Lakes and Ponds” was displaying Shape field. So, I did a Search on my text editor for “Lakes and Ponds”. It found that search term on line 10000 something on my text document and you can see that the Shape field is set to “visible”: true. { "id": 2, "popupInfo": { "title": "Lakes and ponds", "fieldInfos": [ { "fieldName": "OBJECTID", "label": "OBJECTID", "isEditable": false, "visible": false }, { "fieldName": "Shape", "label": "Shape", "isEditable": false, "visible": true }, Now, go to the corresponding line number in your ArcGIS Online Assistant’s data section’s JSON and change that value to “false” and click on the Save button. This should get rid of the Shape field in your popups. Unfortunately, this happens to me a lot where either Shape field has shown up or when adding a layer to a previously existing layer group, it messes up with the popups where popups from one sublayer gets assigned to other sublayer. If possible, one precaution you can take is to add any new sub layers at the very bottom of the layer group, and it seems to work most of the time without having to reconfigure popups from scratch or resort to editing JSON from ArcGIS Online Assistant which should only be used as a last resort in my opinion.
