The Geoportal Server 1.2.7 "What's New" documentation describes the "Geoportal Search" and "AddToMap" widgets, and says to copy them to \\WebAppBuilderForArcGIS\client\stemapp\widgets folder. Where do I get them from in order to copy them there?

I enjoyed reading your article Micah! Great job and good timing for the organization. It's always nice to get published by ESRI!

Hi Kelly: I would like to see a print widget (such as the type you can configure in Web AppBuilder and add to a Web AppBuilder app) added to the out-of-the-box configurable template apps. I would like the print widget to just be part of the functionality of the template apps. Here are some screen shots to give you a better visual on what I am referring to. From My Content > Create an App > Using a Template > and have a Print Widget included as part of the Template Apps such as Story Maps, Crowdsource, Basic Viewer, etc.: Have a Print Widget as part of the Template Apps such as Story Maps: Have a Print Widget as part of the Template Apps such as Collect/Edit Data (or any of them): Does that help clarify? ...~Kris >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kristen Wobbe GIS Specialist BLM - OR State Office

Over the course of this year requests for a PRINT WIDGET in the ArcGIS Online off-the-shelf apps have been reaching my desk more and more. This goes beyond the PRINT WIDGET offered in Web AppBuilder which is great if you have planned ahead, and for example you know that you are creating an app for a customer who knows they will need the capability to print a quick map to take to the field that day, etc. It actually comes up more commonly where an app has already been created such as a Story Map to share with the public, or for presentation to a Manager, and the first thing the manager wants to do is PRINT it so they can share the idea with other managers or staff persons at a meeting. We are currently using the out-of-the box apps and widgets, not downloading and customizing AGOL apps, and are NOT re-hosting customized apps in our own web-enabled environment. (We want to avoid some of the issues that would come with managing new versions, and updating customized web apps that have been downloaded and re-hosted.) In the case described above, the PRINT WIDGET in Web AppBuilder does NOT meet the need! It would be most beneficial for the broad majority of staff-users within our organization to have a PRINT WIDGET included in the off-the-shelf AGOL web apps (i.e. Story Maps, Crowd source, Map Viewer, etc). Thank you for your consideration of this idea! Cheers,...~Kris

I was wondering if there has been any progress made, or plans for a fix, regarding the ESRI verified bug for "setting a data source from a mapped letter drive (G:\) to a UNC path?" This is problematic for our workflow for creating GIS web services and this bug gives me grief at times in doing the preliminary work of setting up my MXD for creating a map service. Due to the workflow used for our ArcGIS Server environment, I get alerted that the data will be copied to the server if we don't use the UNC paths. It would be both helpful and awesome if ESRI provided a fix in future versions of ArcMap for this bug. Here's the details of the verified bug: Bug BUG-000096779 Synopsis In ArcMap 10.3.1 and later, when setting a data source from a mapped drive to a UNC path, the path change is not reflected in the Layer Properties or the Table of Contents. Thank you for providing this forum for new ideas and for your consideration of my idea! ...~Kris

It would be helpful if the "View Status" page in ArcGIS Online for Organizations could be added to a custom role. Currently, I think that only the "Administrator role" can view the "View Status" page. Within our organization it would helpful if we could allow some of the other "Leads" to view the statistics found there. Also it doesn't appear there is any information presented there that shouldn't be seen by staff with other roles if it were opened up more broadly. It raises some concerns that the "Admin role" could become a bottleneck for inquiries, and staff requests for information. I read through the ESRI Help for "View Status" http://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/administer/view-status.htm, but did not find anywhere in there that it was available to anyone except staff with the "Admin role". Thanks for your consideration of this idea. ...~Kris

Thanks Derek! What I was referring to regarding the "November" meeting, was that the Geoportal Product Manager - Marten Hogeweg indicated the two Teams would be meeting, and I'm happy to hear you already have! That may be a reason to try to head to the Developer's Conference this year instead of the big dance in San Diego! Thanks again for your reply. I will look forward to hear more about this in the near future! ESRI is awesome! Best...~Kris Wobbe GIS Specialist BLM - Oregon State Office Portland, OR >>>>>>>>>>>>>> "May the Forest be with you!" Seasons Greetings for 2015! Has there been any progress made in discussions between the Geoportal Server Team and the Web App Builder Team in adding the Geoportal Search Widget as a configurable app to Web App Builder? It makes so much sense for these two ESRI Teams to work together and add an app developed by another ESRI Team to Web App Builder to provide functionality that does not currently exist to Web App Builder. The Geoportal Search Widget allows for search and discovery of GIS resources like data, metadata, map services, etc. Then when a map services is discovered it includes the capability to "Add-to-Map" for quick mash-up and display of map services. There is some very useful programming behind the Geoportal Search Widget that could benefit the broader GIS Community, and take note the code behind this widget is pretty sophisticated and not easily reproduced or replicated. For non-developers it would be most useful to add the Geoportal Server Search Widget as a configurable app to Web App Builder so it an be easily added to your viewer of choice, as downloading, developing, and hosting is not always an option for some users. Does anyone from the ESRI Geoportal Team (Marten) or from the Web App Builder Team have an update to share from the November meeting where this issue was discussed? Curious minds would like to know from Rainy Portland, OR! Cheers! Kris
