This has not been fixed. I just received the same error multiple times while publishing/republishing a dynamic map service from ArcMap10.2.2. Followed by "Unable to process request. Service not found.", however the REST map service appears to be functioning normally.

Then when I try to Publish to Geop, using the PublishClient with ArcCatalog, do I get this error message?? Publication failed for Database Connections\sdeviewer@gisprod.sde\MCGIS.PublicSafety_EOC\MCGIS.EvacuationZones Cause : <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><ARCXML version="1.1"><RESPONSE><ERROR><![CDATA[Error:Metadata publication failed. Did you update the CSW Response xslt as noted in the sourceforge wiki? http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/geoportal/index.php?title=Add_Custom_Link_to_a_Search_Result#Update_the_Geoportal.27s_CSW_Response_xslt Did you check to see if the element in your xml that contains the path to the zipfile is indexing in Lucene and getting the field results you need? http://<your server address here>/geoportal/rest/index/stats/fields I had a lot of trouble making all this work until I went back and discovered one unedited value in my property-meanings.xml file related to the <dc /> element. The xml element from my metatdata file is this: <linkage>http://www.mymanatee.org/gisapps/data/shape/Flood_100yr.zip</linkage> So my property-meanings element had to look like this: <property-meaning name="linkage" valueType="String" comparisonType="value"> <dc name="dct:linkage" scheme="urn:x-esri:specification:ServiceType:linkage" /> This was after I added two possible XPath's for the linkage element to my indexables file: <property meaning="linkage" xpath="/metadata/distInfo/distTranOps/onLineSrc/linkage | /metadata/distInfo/distributor/distorTranonLinSrc/linkage"/> And don't forget to clear your browser cache and restart Tomcat when you make changes. You probably already do that , but they are easy to forget sometimes. Hope this helps. This geoportal thing has been very challenging for me and I am still wrestling with it on a daily basis. Very obtuse app for a non-programmer like me.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had validated my metadata files. Thats how I came to this point. When I validate or try to upload to GeoP, I get errors for missing data. The tags that would contain the missing data don't even exist in my xml. When I looked thru each template provided with the GeoP install, my xml does not match any of the standard formats and templates. Even though it contains a tag that states it is FGDC Standard. <metstdn>FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata</metstdn> <metstdv>FGDC-STD-001-1998</metstdv> I had upgraded to the ArcGIS format of metadata prior to validation. Thanks for any further comments or suggestions.

I have several metadata records in an Oracle database that do not match any of the standard templates that come with Geoportal. I have upgraded all metadata to the ArcGIS metadata format. Most files match the FGDC template, but several have elements that are not found in any other template. Has anyone else run across this problem and if so, how did you rectify the problem? I would rather not create a whole new template for a small percentage of files. Thanks.

I have been using the PublishClient. Easy yes, efficient no. And not without it's issues, but it beats typing it all a second time into the dedicated editor included with Geoportal (assuming you already have metadata created for your data.) http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/geoportal/index.php?title=Geoportal_Publish_Client

A coworker keeps telling me that he watched a demo at last years UC whereby a user could download a shapefile directly from a search/browse result (an entire featureclass directly from SDE) as an alternative to the clipandship geoprocessing task. I have checked out many other geoportal sites and the only thing I have seen is a custom link to a pre-canned .zip file that would have to be re-exported after the data is edited. Does anyone know if this is truly an option? And if so, would you be willing to share? Thanks for any feedback.

Add your own keywords from your metadata to the gpt.properties file in the ISO category you want each layer to be shown. In my metadata the layers used by the planners has the keyword 'planning'. So I added the word "planning" to the appropriate line for keyword search: catalog.harvest.lookup.keywords.planningCadastre =planningCadastre: planning, parcel, parcels, ownership, public land ownership, PLS, public land survey, section;

I fixed my problem, even though I'm not quite sure what the real issue was. Since it seems a lot of posts go unresolved on this forum I thought I would share my experience and maybe save someone a big headache. I could find no clear documentation of this but when publishing the Data Extract and Email gp service to Server from a map document (.mxd) I had to first publish the .mxd without the gp task. Then add the gp task to the TOC in the map, save the .mxd, now publish the gp service. Now the data download task works from the REST endpoint and from the Download tab in my Geoportal app. Hoo-ray!

When I test the extract from REST endpoint various folders and gdb's get written to the ..\arcgisserver\arcgisjobs folder on the host machine. I think permissions are okay as this server was set up exactly the same as all our other servers and I don't think the schema could be exported w/o the correct permissions. Temporary gdb's also have schema, but no records.

I am using the "Extract Data and Email Task" model with associated scripts in my Geoportal 1.2.2 exactly 'as-is' from the System Toolbox. Only changes made were those required by documentation, ie. SMTP email server, To/From email addresses, subject line, after adding it to my .mxd. When I use the data download tool within Geoportal, I receive a copy of the schema, but no records for my downloaded data. This occurs when choosing both a shapefile or file geodatabase as my export format. Has anyone else had this problem and what is the solution? Thanks.

I don't know if it's a python issue or an ESRI/arcpy issue and I don't know why, but this last tidbit of info (try:except) solved a problem I've been having off and on for months. Halle-freaking-lujah ! Thank you.
