Hi Gary, I understood the exact issue now. I think the widget will work with out any modifications as per API documentation. Can you please make sure the upload capability is enabled for the service ? I have provided you the sample URL below. http://<serverNAme>:6080/arcgis/rest/services/<service>/GPServer/uploads Can you pls verify this and if not delete the service and publish with upload capability again. I typically forget to enable this one. When modifying the service it wont enable this property. We have to delete and publish again. Thanks, Mani

Hi Dirk, What is the type of the output parameter you set in the Geoprocessing service ? Some types will not be added to the result map service. Thanks, Mani

Hi Gary, ArcGIS server will not support direct GPDataFile upload. You have to upload the file using upload task and give the item id for the GP service. Here is the high level idea to get it work for any GP service which needs file upload, Publish the Geoprocessing service with upload option Refer : ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2) Operations allowed: Uploads: This capability controls whether a client can upload a file to your GIS server that the tasks within the geoprocessing service would eventually use. The upload operation is mainly used by web clients that need a way to send a file to the server for processing. The upload operation returns a unique ID for the file after the upload completes, which the web application could pass to the geoprocessing service. You may need to modify the maximum file size and timeouts depending on how large an upload you want your server to accept. Check the local REST SDK documentation installed on your ArcGIS Server machine for information on using an uploaded file with a geoprocessing service. This option is off by default. Allowing uploads to your service could possibly pose a security risk. Only turn this on if you need it. Upload the file using the upload url that is generated in the geoprocessing service . It will give you the itemID of the uploaded file in response. http://<servername>:6080/arcgis/rest/services/GP/ConvertKMLToLayer/GPServer/uploads/upload Response Json: {"success":true,"item":{"itemID":"ie84b9b8a-5007-4337-8b6f-2477c79cde58","itemName":"SStation.csv","description":null,"date":1409942441508,"committed":true}} Invoke the geoprocessing service with the item id as the GPDataFile input , For Ex: KMLInput value would be {"itemID":"ie84b9b8a-5007-4337-8b6f-2477c79cde58"} The result will be added to map service with job id if you have configured the view the GP results in a map service. Or you can read the response as it returns. Hope this helps .... Thanks, Mani

Hi , I am trying to convert KML file to layer file and GBD. I need to generate the output in a network location. I am getting the following error if I give the output location as network location. Executing: KMLToLayer \\<networkpath>\folder1\gpUpload\GraphicsToKMLExport.kml \\<networkpath>\folder1\gpUpload temp1 NO_GROUNDOVERLAY Start Time: Thu Sep 04 11:15:16 2014 ERROR 000210: Cannot create output \\<networkpath>\folder1\gpUpload\temp1.gdb Failed to execute (KMLToLayer). Failed at Thu Sep 04 11:15:17 2014 (Elapsed Time: 0.29 seconds) I have read and write access to the shared folder. I am using ArcGIS 10.2.1 version. Please let me know if there are any workarounds or solutions. Thanks in Advance, Mani

Hi William, Thanks for your response. I am using ArcGIS 10.1 and C# language for developing the AddIn. I have also tried VBA code in 10.1. But no luck. As you suggested, I tested the tool in ArcGIS 10.2 and I am getting the same results. It is population with "0" as GUID value. I will also try to test it in VB.NET and let you know the results. Thanks, Mani

Hi, I am trying to load data from different File GeoDBs into SDE. They have the same schema with GlobalID column. I referred the ESRI sample (http://help.arcgis.com/en/sdk/10.0/arcobjects_net/conceptualhelp/index.html#//00010000019v000000 ) to change the GlobalID to GUID type. I followed approach 1 (Convert between GlobalID and GUID columns (approach 1). As per the ESRI documentation , After the conversion I should be able to append/load data from FGDB with the existing GUID values. Notes from the documentation, "Once the columns are converted, you can copy the feature classes or tables, or start loading data. If you are loading data, you can use data loading tools in ArcGIS, such as the append geoprocessing tool or the simple data loader in ArcCatalog. These tools can map source GUID and GlobalID columns to the target GUID column that you previously converted. They also support loading from any geodatabase source including file geodatabases and personal geodatabases." But after converting the column to GUID type, the "Append tool" (executed manually with - NO_TEST option ) is populating "{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}" for all the records. "Load Data" (Object loader) tool is not showing the GUID field in field mapping dialogue. Note: Append tool failed if "TEST" options is given The converted GUID field is not editable in AraMap. Anyone has solution/suggestion for this issue? Thanks , Mani
