Hi, I'm having some issues using the 'add join' tool within model builder. The output table always results in 'TableName_1, TableName_2, etc.. I would like the output to preserve the column name so it would look something like 'TableName_ColumnName'. I've tried selecting the maintain field names options but still no luck. Attached is the model jpg. Any ideas?

If we already have ArcGIS Server deployed on the virtual server, can we use that to set up an enterprise sde connection to oracle? I'm a little confused with the integration of server and sde. Otherwise I'm assuming we would want to set up a sde workgroup on the same server as arcgis server, and connect via oracle client to our oracle db on a separate server? Thanks again.

Just looking into what the ideal set up would be for our purposes. We're looking to build a couple web editing applications as well as a mobile application with editing capabilities. My understanding is SDE Personal allows only 3 concurrent viewers and 1 editor, correct? We would install SDE on a separate server (virtual) than Oracle. So I would also be interested in hearing any issues or drawbacks associated with that as well. I'm relatively new to the SDE environment so any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the info. We hope to deploy a couple of web and mobile applications with total of 20-30 consumers and a few editors. So it would be a relatively small deployment. Oracle DB which is used for production would be on in house server which would connect to the virtual via SDE. See any issues?

We are currently looking into the possibility of installing ArcSDE connecting to our current Oracle 10.2 db. Ultimately we would like to develop some mobile and web applications with editing functionality. Question is that we may use Windows Virtual Server 2008 to house ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE. Just wondering if anyone out there has run similar configurations and if so, any info would be great. ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE are relatively new to me so I apologize for the lack of details.

Problem solved. One of our GIS guys in a different office was able to convert the 2D shapefiles into 3D shapefiles using the Feature Manipulation Software. I have put a note in to ESRI explaining the issue and that their tools doesn't work as advertised. Just wanted to report back that we found a solution using other means.

I'll definitely consider that route if I can't find a quicker solution. In theory, the "Layer 3D to Feature Class" tool should do exactly what I need but it won't retain the extrusion properties as advertised. Thanks for the input!

Just tried it and unfortunately it didn't work. Actually it looks like it didn't do anything at all. It sounds like that tool is designed for displaying changes in line elevations. But I can't seem to find any solid info on extruding polygons correctly that have two elevations in the attributes. Thank you for the suggestion though.

No luck. Thanks for the response though. I can't seem to get the feature class to retain the correct low and high z values for the multipatch shapefile.

I have two FAA Airspace shapefiles that I'm trying to convert into 3D feature classes in order to send as a 3D shapefile. My process has been this: 1) Extrude low and high altitudes in arcscene based on attribute values. 2) Save as a layer file 3) convert layer to 3D feature class. After conversion the 3D properties are altered as you can see in the images. The first image being the layer with extruded elevations based on attributes. The second being the converted 3D multipatch feature class after running the 'convert layer to 3D feature class' tool. Does 3D analyst have the capibility preserve two attribute elevations? Any information or advice would be great.

I have a set of aerial images that need to be geo-referenced and will be used in outside of ArcMap. So simply adjusting the display properties won't cut it. Because of this I need to find a solution that permanently removes the unwanted border (slivers) and updates the world file. Any help would be great. Thanks.
