Did anyone find solution to this? It is very annoying on my end and on clients end as well, since they are prompted to save non-existing changes. It happens with Reader, Pro, DC versions

Hello Dan, Thanks for your reply. I am using share/export. I have tried all the file types, and so far, none are rendering good results, except for the .svg file type, which looks the best, even adequate, but I can't open it with our graphic software (We use Corel Draw). I've tried different settings in the export to pdf Export Option dialog box. I've exported with different compression types, and at different dpi. From the defaults, changing them ect. increasing the dpi, so far, no good exports apart from the svg file. Any suggestions? There must be a way to export a scene without it getting vectorized? marie

I'm new to ArcGIS, and I've created a simple 3D scene and would like to export it to pdf or another format to share. However, all the different outputs I have tried are very low quality, both vector and raster export file types. The exported scene looks blotchy, rasterrized. The labels are barely legible. Has anyone produced a quality output from an ArcGIS Pro Scene? I'm really scratching my head on this one today.

Hello Donald, I just had a very similar issue. I was using a shp and a gdb table. I converted my shp into a feature class, and that solved the issue. Maybe try exporting your shapefile to a gdb. Good luck

Hello, I've had similar problems, usually, periodically, i cannot select multiple rows at one, by clicking on the left-most row and holding down the shift key. I've found that closing all instances of ArcMap and starting a new session works for me, even though it's kinda annoying. I am running 10.1, on a 64 bit machine, and do have XTools.

I' had this issue again last week...(such a waste of time- and it always seems to happen when a deadline is looming.....lol) Anyway, I frantically tried many different solutions/work-around suggested here. Thanks everyone for sharing your tricks. I stubbornly did not want to use the "donut-solution"....I wanted to "fix" it! In this case, I did find a solution...The data frame of the map that I was having trouble with was rotated by -12.5 degrees. When I changed the rotation to 347.5 degrees (same rotation, different way of asking Arcmap to do it) my map exported perfectly. Maybe this work around will help another user out there. Best of luck all of you fellows! (and shame on ESRI for not posting anything in the entire, 2 year long thread!) This is a nasty nasty bug, that can really delay production!

Hello Andy, If you have been looking for a way to lock elements of the layout, such as boxes and text, I have been looking to do the same thing, but I have not found any feature that allows that. I don't think it exists, but if you find a way, please share it! It would be such a good feature. The best trick that I have found so far is for textboxes, lines, and shapes such as rectangles. I snap them to guidelines. I makes them harder to move accidentally. Good luck!

Hello! I am having the same issue. In ArcScene, The base heights option for getting the elevation from an elevation in the layer's features is grayed out. I have tried using different field types (float, double, Long) to store the elevation, to no avail. Any work-around found since this post?

Dear ArcScene users. How would you like to be able to be able to "pause the drawing" in ArcScene like the option in ArcMap, which allows the user to temporarily suspend all drawing so you can make changes to your map, such as changing the symbology of several layers, without having the map redraw after each change. ArcScene does not have this feature. It would be soooooo useful. Especially since high resolution layers can take a very long time to draw.! I posted this idea on the ArcGIS ideas web site about a year ago. I just looked and it only had a few votes...If pause a 'apuse drawing' button is something that would be to your benefit, please vote on the ideas page that is run by ESRI. You can follow this link http://esri.force.com/ideaView?id=08730000000brba&returnUrl=%2Fapex%2FideaList%3Fc%3D09a300000004xET%26category%3DArcGIS%2BDesktop%2BExtensions%26p%3D3%26sort%3Drecent, or google this: "Add the "Pause Drawing" option in ArcScene" to get there. Thanks a million!!!!

Hello All, I would like to record a flyover and make it into a short animation to show during presentations. I have experimented with this before, when I ran the 3D Analyst trial a while back. I found that I could export a fly over to avi, which I could then play in a simple player such as Windows Media Player. I was asked to record a fly over for a client and am about to embark in that journey. I would really like to know what other users out there are doing? If you have done this kind of thing before, I would love to get your insight: What methods are you using to export the best resolution possible? What format are you exporting to? Is there a file type that works best What are you using to edit the output files? Is there any freeware that can be used to edit the outputted "animation" Any tips/tricks you can share that would save me some grief in the next few weeks? I appreciate any feedback! Thanks in advance! Marishka

Hello to you all out there! I am using Raster Clip (in Data Management) to Clip a raster with a polygon feature class. The raster and the polygon are in the same projection/datum, and I have set my environment settings. I have used this tool successfully before, but am getting a strange output this time around. The clip works but there are a few places where pixels outside the polygon are part of the output. I have attached a screenshot of the output. The outline is shown in pink around the raster...The cells that are outside are much darker (lower elevation) I have tried different environment settings...adding the two layers to a new ArcMap session, rebooting..... I am running out of ideas....hopefully someone has encountered this before has a suggestion. Marishka

I have been able to successfully create the TIN in ArcGIS from a CAD drawing. I did need 3D Analyst ext to create the Terrain and then the TIN. I have step by step instructions and would be happy to share if you would like. Hello Audrey! I am having some problems converting a 3d Cad file into a proper TIN. I would be very very interested in getting your step by step instructions!!! Marishka

I have been using ArcScene for a few months now, and am surprised to see that there is no North arrow option... Indeed, I cannot find a way to add a North Arrow to any scenes. Am I missing something? Seems very very strange indeed. You would think that GIS software would include a North Arrow nad scale bar option at a minimum. I must be missing something! I have made a manual north arrow, using ArcMAp and a shapefile for another project, but it seems like this is not the way to go (it is very time consuming). Any ideas from users. Any input from ESRI? Any comments/suggestions/ideas are appreciated. Marishka.
