We have a non versioned archived feature class with MANY states. The archiving of the data was for use with collector and disconnected editing and we do not need the archived data, it was simply a requirement. Does anyone know if I delete the feature class from the database will the associated states be deleted also? The database will not currently compress, so I thought maybe this was a way to get the states table under control.

The reader role has view all tables permission. We denied select in the reader role for this feature class and granted select for only those departmental roles that need to see it. Now, the bigger issue of sde being the owner of the data....can we change the owner of the data in SQL? Or should we create an entirely new database and reimport data with new owner? Thank you for all of your help!

No user in the geodatabase has sys admin rights, not even the 'sde' user.

I am loading the data through ArcCatalog, not SQL. Who is recommeneded to own the data? No, it is not in a dataset. All GIS users can see the data in ArcGIS desktop and use it. We did test a select query through SQL backend and it was successful as a user who theoretically should not be able to see the data.

Hello, I have imported a new feature class into our SDE Geodatabase, sde user is the owner. I have not granted any privileges to roles or users through ArcCatalog and SQL backend shows no permissions to the table, but all of the GIS users can see tha data. I am working with our SQL DBA to figure out what is going on, but thought I would put it out here to hopefully get suggestions on where to look. We are using SQL Server 2012 and ArcGIS desktop 10.2.1. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Although the compress did not give any errors, it was not getting to the state 0 because of a hung SDE connection. We forced a compress and all is fine now. Thank you for the help!

Thank you for the replies! We run a compress in our rec and post script nightly and it says that it was successful. I just queried the versioned view in SQL after setting the default to current state (EXEC sde.set_default), and the data is correct. But the table still shows the incorrect/old data. Does this mean that the rec and post did not complete? Or the compress did not really complete? Very new at this 😮

I have edited an SDE feature class and the changes have gone through rec and post to the default. I can see the changes in the ArcGIS environment but not in the SQL environment. Any ideas of what might be happening?
