I have 9 separate story maps which are all form the same topic. I am trying out the new story map templates, in the past I have used classic. These story maps are for an online exhibition. The reason I have made them separate is because the user will access each story map through a virtual exhibition room. On each story map (exhibition board) I have a button to say 'Next Board' which will link to the next story map: eg. So the link on Next Board will be the URL for the next in sequence Story Map or Board 2 of the exhibition and so on. 'The Return to Main Room' will be a link to go back to the Virtual Room website. Is there any way of getting the button URL to replace the tab your are on ie. not open on a new tab. By the time the user has finished reading the consultation boards (or story maps) he will have 9 tabs open, so I would prefer that each board is replaced by the next, I also have a button to go back to previous board. Here is the link to the first board: ArcGIS StoryMaps The Main Room link doesn't yet work.

I am working with a large shapefile (47MB) in ArcGIS online for using in my story map on the Visual Tab - link here: https://arcg.is/0b4LL . It a a zone of theoretical visibility (ZTV) for wind farms. I converted it from a raster and dissolved it and merged some attributes to make it smaller and easier to handle in Arc GIS online. I have also ended up splitting it into separate shapefiles as this seems to help a bit in loading. I have shared it as a service to my account and I read this should make it quicker loading however i am still finding it very slow loading and when you zoom in to the map when the map is trying to load the whole site crashes! I tried to publish so it is a host tile layer but when I add it to my map it keep saying there is an error and that it might not be in the right co-ordinate system. I did try and re-projecting it in the recommended WGS 1984 Web Mercator Auxiliary Sphere but it still comes up with the same error. I also tried loading the raster by publishing it but had similar issues. Has anyone found a good way of loading large shapefiles? Here is a link to the file I am working with: https://services7.arcgis.com/JTczPnyatlWnJ5Gc/arcgis/rest/services/Scenario_A_ZTV_groups/FeatureServer Thanks Megan

I have now thought of a work around solution that works. I edited the image to have more space on the left to accommodate for the side panel and chose fit to screen and it now looks fine.

Hi Rupert, Thanks for you information. To try and explain I am using Map Series and in the side panel I am creating an action in the story for the map to change to a graphic when you click on the words. This opens in place of the map but fills the whole screen and goes behind the side panel. I hope this explains a ittle better. Megan

I am using the story map series and am using the main stage to display a diagram. The issue with this is that the text in the side panel overlaps the image and so you cant see behind the image. I want to be able to display the image in the main stage without it going behind the side panel as you can faintly see part of the diagram (a wind turbine) behind the text. Is there a way of doing this? I've tried different ways of displaying the image through a link and uploading but I cant seem to get it to fit. My story is 'live' so please see the link to the 'Benefits' tab and scroll down to see blue text 'shared ownership diagram' https://f9.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=8430e8c688dc4bdba24d4da84a4c69b9 Thanks Megan

Thanks for all your suggestions. Just to let you know that I went for the HP Spectre x 360 15-bl101na Convertible Laptop. It is a great computer and even better in dual screen as it flips right over and you can use a separate keyboard.

Yes I know this is a bit of a big ask but I would like someone to #recommend a few #laptops for me to run ArcGIS Desktop. I also run WindPro which is a windfarm developer software (requires CPU running at 2 GHz and minimum of 2 GB RAM). I find my current computer pretty slow now but it is 4 years old. It is also really heavy. I am currently using a novatech Inspire with an added graphics card. My files are are stored on my computer but also uploaded to the clouds. I would like a laptop which is fairly light weight with minimum screen size of 14-15 inch and that is fast with lots of memory budget £1500-£2000?? Any recommendations? Thank You

I am trying to iterate on a spatial join on point data. I want to get the attribute of a polygon onto a point dataset. I can do it fine for one features but have loads of points to get through so want to use the iterate function which I have not used before. I have attempted this but the spatial join needs to have an input value - what value do I tell it to use as I want it to use all the features in my geodatabase but it wont me select this - only wants me to select one feature. So far I have got this far.

Does anyone know if you can get a library of different wind turbine models for ArcScene. Are you able to animate wind turbines so that the blades go round?
