Dear all, I am somewhat aware of the concept behind how Lidar data is structured and then published to ArcGIS Server as Image Service but am not sure how does it look like other than the 2D image service we get from it. Can anyone share your experience regarding the web/online 3D visualization capability of ArcGIS to render the point cloud with associated back-dropped panoramic images? And if someone is able to do it then what other products/licenses would one need to accomplish it? Thanks in advance for your help.

I was able to test both of these objects with Silverlight and it worked like a charm. Thanks Robert once again for your kind help. It indeed helped regarding what I was looking for. Thanks Robert for your prompt help. I would give it a shot and let you know regarding the output and accordingly mark it as an answer if it serve the purpose :). Regards.

Greetings all, I am trying to run a long (processing multiple objects in a batch mode) and heavy processing (raster manipulation) operation through ArcGIS Geoprocessing Service. It is working fine in execute synchronous or asynchronous operation, however, I would like to get the status update messages while geoprocessor is executing and show them as progress using ArcGIS silverlight or ArcGIS flex client. I would appreciate if anyone can provide a clue, any literature or POC in this regard. In advance, I thank you all for your time and support.

Hi, You can achieve your desired results by defining a new method, creating a new instance of geometry service in it and defining separate event handlers to initiate and then get the completed result. It should work flawlessly.

I tried even configuring this user but it did not help. Eventually, I ended up in reinstalling it and the problem is fixed now. Thanks for your time and support.

Greetings everyone, I am working with ArcGIS Server 10.1 release on Windows 2008 R2. I suddenly started getting an error regarding 'Failed to start the server machine. Premature end of file' if I try to start the server machine inside ArcGIS Management Panel under Sites tab. I tried searching through the forums but nothing resolved this problem. I also checked solution given at urls 'http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/44128-ArcGIS-Server-10.1-beta-2-on-Windows-7-64-Site-creation-failed' and 'http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/65237-Failed-to-start-server-machine.' but nothing worked. Any help would be appreciated here. In advance I thank you for your time and support.

Thanks Wayne Whitley and JillPenney for your help. The problem is resolved with the Jill suggestion. In my second reply I already have mentioned that I can retrieve objectID values but it won't serve my purpose because ObjectIDs are changed when ever Geodatabase administrator compresses the database and hence they are not unique. The for loop trick somehow worked and I could retrieve the GLOBALID information as well. Once again thanks everyone for your support and time.

Oops, should have said getCount returns an object that is converted to string w/ getOutput and in the sample, the necessary part of the string (which is the count only), is converted to integer. Sorry for any confusion. Thanks Wayne_Whitley for your informative answers. However, none of these suggestions worked for me. It is a bit strange as they changed the searching api a bit and now we have to code something like this. try: fields = ["OBJECTID","AREA_ID"] with arcpy.da.SearchCursor(sourceObjectFilePathName, fields) as cursor: for row in cursor: print("{0},{1}".format(row[0], row[1]) del cursor except Exception as e: print e.message Though, strange enough for me, I can't get the value of 'GLOBALID' field in a feature class as following exception is thrown when I add it to the search criteria. I wonder way and it is kind of really frustrating. I need it as it is the permanent unique key that I can use to compare features from one feature class to another. ************************************ unsupported field type GLOBALID #11 Exception Type is: <class 'Queue.Empty'> ************************************

Greetings all, I just wanted to check if I am the only one experiencing this problem or might be making a mistake in the usage of Row object 'getValue(field_name)' method. I believe this method was working fine with ArcGIS 10 release but it is throwing error in 10.1. I tried to go through the documentation at 'http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//018z0000008r000000' but it seems that code sample at same page never uses this method instead is using 'row.FIELD_NAME'. The row.FIELD_NAME method works fine but it is kind of hardcoding the field name which no one would like. Please comment or suggest if you have a solution to this problem. Here is the code snippet which throws an error. cur = arcpy.SearchCursor(inputFC) row = cur.Next() while row: print(row.getValue(field_name)) # if I just replace this line with 'print(row.FIELD_NAME) then it works fine. row = cur.Next() del cur Thanks in advance for your time and support.

Hi, I was wondering if there is anyway we can update an attribute of mosaic dataset after a new raster is added to it. I have a little knowledge about getting a reference to the mosaic dataset contents by first making a 'mosaic dataset layer' but for some reasons the expression to make a subset from the mosaic dataset features/footprint features and then perform 'calculate field' task is changing data for entire features inside it. I can accomplish the same thing by exporting the required features into another feature class, manipulating and then appending into a final target feature class and use it in the old image service definition task to publish it as a service but as per the documentation this method is replaced with the new arcgis image server improved data model i.e., mosaic dataset and it suggests to work with mosaic dataset. Please share your thought if there is any automated/script api to update time/product name/group/custom date attribute information for mosaic dataset when we programmatically add a new raster image to it. I know we can work with the C# arcobjects based api to define a 'raster type' for custom image upload and automatically fill this information but I am looking for a simpler method because i think it is an overkill to create a custom 'Raster Type' for just updating an attribute. I am working with ArcGIS server/sde and desktop 10 on Windows 2008 environment. Thanks for your time and support in advance.

Dear Vince, My company already has a dedicated services contract with ESRI and I have escalated this issue at all levels but so far did not get any effective response on it. So, I decided to try posting it here but seems that even it might not help. Thanks for your kind help and support so far.

Thanks Vince for your quick response. I don't think using se_toolkit to export each state is a solution for me. Its reason is because I am working with legacy data and because of poorly designed business workflows I have seen versions with more than 250000 changes and as you said if a state is referencing changes from more then one feature classes this would be a nightmare. As you said sdeexport won't be an option here because it works only with simple features, I think ArcObject is the only option which I am familiar with and can work with. But I am really not sure the exact path / objects and objects activity flow to accomplish it. First of all I can construct the versions ancestor tree using a simple sql statement. Then I can use arcobjects to identify and extract the version differences for each feature class. What I really have not done so far is delete a child version, recreate it again after a feature class/feature data is recreated in the target gdb environment and populate extracted changes into this newly created version and all related child versions. Just to keep in mind, some of the feature classes are participating in different topology rules. Before, I can get my hands real dirty with it, do you think it is a viable option? I am suffering from the legacy data as I converted it 99% into replication ready datasets i.e., it should be versioned, should have global ids and be of high precision. Though, all these conditions are met, I am still facing a very strange error with just 1% of remaining data stating 'The spatial reference z values do not match'. Here is the reference link to my question on details about this issue on this forum 'http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/57008-The-spatial-reference-z-values-do-not-match'. I wander, if I would be able to get a solution to it forever.
