When Pro checks for Upgrades if will notify you that there is an upgrade available. We are in 2.9.1 and it says 3.0.x is available. However we want to stay in the 2.9 release. In fact Esri recommends Utilities stay here. And had no idea there were patches available for 2.9 (Currently 2.9.6 is out there). The software should give you the option of updating to lower releases than the latest version.

Well, I never got any responses. But I did find a way to do it. In ArcGIS Pro, if I added a Vector tile basemap from ArcGIS Online, and tried to use the Share menu, Web Layer / Publish as a Web Layer, And the tile option. . It told me the layer's data source was not supported. But, if I used the Geoprocessing tool. "Create Map Tile Package" it would work. Then all I had to do was go to Portal and Add Item from Computer. One other small item. If I used tried to set the extent in the geoprocessing tool, it still tried to export the entire world. BUT, if I set the Extent in the Map Option, I got it to just tile the area I was interested in. Hope that helps someone else.

StreetMap premium comes with a MXD. I can import that MXD into ArcGIS Pro, but it has the "old" method of grouping/ duplicating layers to handle scale thresholds and scale ranges, symbol sizes, etc. Is it possible to use the style from one of the vector maps for this data, and if so how would I apply it? Or if someone has already gone to the trouble of doing this in project and would be willing to share it. I would be eternally grateful.

I would like to use the vector style editor to change the look of an online basemap and then share part of it as a raster tile layer in my portal(server). One of my applications is using arcgis server 10.5 map services and can't read vector tile caches. And requires a cached mapService retuning png8 files. I have tried to do in Pro, but it says the Layer's data source is not supported. Is there a workflow I can use. Perhaps extracting it somehow? I have both ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro.

I published a MXD form ArcMap 10.3.1 pointing at a Oracle Database using an EZ type of connection. When I published, it said I need to register my DataStore, which I did by Importing the SDE connection file. Now we are done testing, and will want to switch these Map Services to a Production connection. Can I just edit the Registered Databases's Properties in the DataStore window of ArcGIS Server? When I tried that, and then looked at my Map Service Workspace in ArcCatalog, it seems to be still pointing at the old connection. So I am not sure it worked or Not. What is the best way to do this, without having to republish all my map services? I added a Word doc with a couple of screen shots, if that helps to clear anything up.

John, I did get it to work for non-repeated images. But when I put it inside a repeat, it makes me put something for the Name and Label fields in the xlsx. I used "Visual" But then I try to publish, it says, The Custom feature sevice "submission_url" is not compatible with this survey (Table Visual not found). Also my next step would be to add a filed that is in the attachement table so the user can name the photo. I am guessing either I will use the name of the filed and it will figure it out, or I would need a table name for that. Any clarification on either point will be appreciated greatly.

I am having trouble figuring out how to configure the XLSX in Survey123 Connect to use my attachements. When I created a new Survey using the Existing Feature Service, it only brought in the fields from the main Feature service. But when I published it was from a featureclass with Attachments enabled and in the MapViewer i can add new features and attach multiple images to them. I think I understand the concept or Repeats, I am just not sure how to configure the columns in the Excel spreadsheet to tell it which table / field name to use to store the image. From the Rest Endpoint, I can Query Attachements and see data I tried putting "HoleLocations__ATTACH" in the Name field for the Repeat row and DATA as in the Name field for the image row. Am I way off? I am attaching 2 screen shots one of my spreadsheet, the other of the rest results in case that helps.

Thanks Kelly for your help. It seems the easiest thing is to use the Admin Rest URL and update only the “Drawing Info Section” For some reason, if I used all the default text in the Update box, and changed the drawing info information, I would receive errors (or worse, no error but nothing was changed). For other people who are looking for help doing this, here is my methodology. 1) Go to the Service URL of the layer you want to copy from: 2) Switch to JSON view. 3) Copy the “drawingInfo” section, or copy the whole thing and delete everything but the “drawingInfo” section 4) Make sure you have the beginning and ending Curly braces surround it (example below) { "drawingInfo": { "renderer": { "type": "simple", "label": "", "description": "", "symbol": { "color": [133, 0, 11, 255], "size": 3, "angle": 0, "xoffset": 0, "yoffset": 0, "type": "esriSMS", "style": "esriSMSCircle", "outline": { "color": [0, 0, 0, 255], "width": 1, "type": "esriSLS", "style": "esriSLSSolid" } } }, "transparency": 0 } } 5) Open the Target Layer’s Service URL 6) Go to Admin mode by adding the /admin (parameter? / keyword?) in the Url i.e replace ../rest/services/... with .../rest/admin/services/... 7) At the bottom under Supported Operations, click on “Update Definition” 😎 Replace the text in the box, with the drawingInfo text from the other layer you copied. 9) Leave ASync to False and Format to JSON (what I did, not sure what changing actually does) 10) Click the Update layer Defintion Button 11) If it worked you will get this message { "success" : true }

Kelly, Sorry for the delay, hopefully you have not given up on me. new to this forum and i didn't notice anyone had replied. Here is my workflow. In the featureLayer, click on the Service URL of one of the layers. replace ../rest/services/... with .../rest/admin/services/... At the bottom, click Update Definition Here, I replace the part after "drawingInfo":{"Renderer":("type":"simple","symbol": with the symbol I copied from another featurelayer. Howerver, for testing sake, I also just tried changing the Height and Width of the existing text from 9 to 29. I leave the Asynch option to False and Format to HTML Then I click the Update Layer Definition Button. I get an error saying: Invalid definition for 'LastEditDate'. Invalid definition for ESRI.ArcGIS.SDS.Metadata.EditingInfo If I change the Asynch Option to True and click the Update Button it looks like it works, but if i go back to the Visualization tab on the feature layer, it says I need to save my changes, I do, but it doesn't appear anything has changed.

I would like to copy the symbology from one arcgisonline feature layer to another. It is just a point symbol. I have tried going to the rest / Admin and UpdateDefinition. The trying to replace the DrawingInfo Renderer, but it does not seem to stick, even if I just try changing the size of the exiting one. Is it possible to do this? If so, what are the steps? Do I need to be in HTML or JSON mode or does it matter? If I can figure this out, it will save me a ton of time. Or if there is already a tool out there that facilitates this, that would be just as good.

This just started. I am using the 2.3.1 viewer with Flash Bulder 4. A few of my png files (specifically the w_close.png) do not get copied to the bin-debug or bin-release folder when I build and/or run it. Most of the other files work fine. Have I accidently marked this somewhere to be ignored? Not sure where to look. Michael

That worked. Thank you very much. I am guessing that the way I was doing it was adding the context menu of something else besides the map? Also, would I need to add to this section too? ... else if (map.contextMenu["addItem"]) { map.contextMenu["addItem"](menuItem); map.contextMenu["addItem"](cmi); }

In 2.1, I was able to add a context menu by doing the following (see code below). I moved to 2.3.1 and added the same code to the new MapManager.MXML Now, the items do not show up when I right click. Am I forgetting something? import mx.core.FlexGlobals; [Bindable] private var cm:ContextMenu; Private Function Init(): void { ... // Added for Context menu var cmi:ContextMenuItem = new ContextMenuItem("Copy Lat, Long to clipboard", true); cmi.addEventListener(ContextMenuEvent.MENU_ITEM_SELECT, contextMenuItem_menuItemSelect); cm = FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.contextMenu; cm.hideBuiltInItems(); MovieClip(systemManager).contextMenu = cm; cm.customItems = [cmi,cmi3]; cm.addEventListener(ContextMenuEvent.MENU_SELECT, contextMenu_menuSelect); }

Doh, I knew it would be something simple. I was editing the CSS file in the bin-debug folder. Which is probably what it meant by being derived (Just guessing though). So when I edited the CSS file in Src/(Default Package) folder things started working as expected. Still getting used to this Flash Builder IDE. Robert, thanks for coming to my rescue, again.
