Yes, Mark, you can use your own point feature class as accuracy assessment points. You will have to manually add the two fields to calculate the confusion matrix, the Classified and the GrndTruth fields. Then use the Update Accuracy assessment points tool twice, once to populate the Classified, then to populate the GrndTruth field. Once both fields have values, you can use Compute Confusion Matrix to generate the confusion matrix.

Geocoding is the process of transforming location descriptions, such as an addresses or a place names, to locations on a map. You may have used a published locator, perhaps the ArcGIS World Geocoding Service before, but did you know you can also geocode addresses using your own locator? In this video, we will explore how to build your own locator using our own reference data and use it to geocode a table of addresses. This video was recorded using ArcGIS Pro 2.9 in March 2022. For further training, check out our Address Geocoding with ArcGIS web course.

The errata sheet listing the known issues in the Esri ArcGIS Desktop Associate Certification Study Guide are posted here. I can't speak yet to whether or when this book will be updated for 10.3, but even with the 10.3 version of the certification exam coming out, this book is still a valuable study resource. Since the book covers the foundational concepts relevant for the test and is not geared to specific questions, it still helps you to prepare for the majority of the objectives listed Skills Measured section. We expect the 10.3 version of the exam to be released this summer, before User Conference. There is about a 10% change in functionality between the 10.1 and 10.3 versions that warranted the exam update. Only for the 10% of new, 10.3 specific functionality you'd have to refer to other study resources outside the Study Guide book, such as the online help. Also, the 10.1 version of the exam (there was no exam update at version 10.2) will still be available after the 10.3 exam has been released.

On January 29, Bruce Harold and I presented the Live Training Seminar Streamline GIS Workflows with ArcGIS Pro Here are your top 10 questions and answers from Bruce: Can I open existing Desktop MXD documents in Pro, and save to an MXD? You can import an ArcMap MXD document into a Pro 2D map, and you can also import ArcScene and ArcGlobe documents, but you cannot save back to those document types. Is ArcGIS Pro a free addition to ArcMap 10.3 ? If you are current on maintenance for ArcGIS for Desktop you are entitled to ArcGIS Pro at no extra cost. How does Pro integrate with ArcGIS for Server? Pro can consume Server services and publish maps and scenes to Portal for ArcGIS, which is a component of Server Standard & Advanced. Pro uses a Portal for its licensing. Can a single data source be edited in Pro or ArcMap, or do I need to stick to one application for editing? Yes, you can edit data using either application, but at the 1.0 release some workflows are not supported in Pro, like reconciling and posting to versions. Do you need the 3D Analyst Extension to run ArcGIS Pro? No, ArcGIS Pro is a natively 3D capable application. Can we save a Pro project as a template and use it repeatedly for more than one imported MXD? Yes, this is a good way to ensure your favorite layout settings are available to all imported maps; you can reuse and share Pro templates across your organization. Do you need a CityEngine license to use rule packages for symbology? No, you can use CityEngine rule package files without the need for a CityEngine license. What if you use a concurrent license model? How does one-to-one entitlement work in this case? Both single use and concurrent licenses for ArcGIS for Desktop carry an entitlement of 1:1 provisioning for ArcGIS Pro. Is there a .NET API available for Pro? Not at the 1.0 release, but there will be a .NET SDK available for ArcGIS Pro later in 2015. Will ArcMap/Catalog/Scene/Globe be decommissioned and replaced by ArcGIS Pro? The 32bit ArcGIS for Desktop applications will be supported and enhanced for the foreseeable future, but ultimately their lifespan is subject to 32bit operating system support.
