In using the attribute table, I am unable to display the system SDE/Geodatabase field "Shape.STLength()". I have this field being displayed in the popups and esearch widget but for some reason it will not display within an attribute table. Any ideas or a work around? Thanks in advance. Matt Shetzer

Thanks Robert !!!! Matt Matt, This is a known issue and is fixed for 3.5. If you use the source code then you can make the change without waiting for 3.5: https://github.com/Esri/arcgis-viewer-flex/issues/158

I've noticed that the Query popup with a photo does not seem to be working. I've tested it in 3.3 and 3.4 with the same results I've referenced the sample from ESRI for traffic cameras, and the photo does not appear, but when you click the link it opens correctly in a new tab. Has anyone else seen this behavior? Thank you for the suggestion. I will try that and update the post. Matt Might there be too heavy a load on your ArcGIS Server, as you say you have many services. I use free-software called 123LogAnalyzer to get me a rough idea on how often my AGS services are being hit. I'm not sure if the 123LogAnalyzer will be able to determine too heavy a load, but can you shut down some services (not sure if this is possible in your production environment) and see if the problem still continues.

I've been chasing this problem for a couple of weeks now, and can't seem to figure it out. A couple of times a day, users receive the following error: MapManager MY LAYER failed to load: Fault code:400 Fault info: Unable to complete operation Fault details: Invalid URL When the user reloads the site, all works just fine. There are many services running and called in this SFV (v2.5 with Server 10.0) and the errors are not consistent with just one service. Some days no errors, other days some errors, but a reload of the site always fixes the issue. Any thoughts on how to eliminate this error or what is causing it. Thanks Matt Shetzer

Perfect !!! Thanks for all your help Robert !!! Matt Matt, The XML does not like when you use the greater than or less than symbol in your XML as those mean something to the XML parser. You need to esacape the Less Than with < and Greater Than with >

Robert, I'm trying to selected a date range with the esearch widget off of a single field. I might be trying to do something that wasn't intended. When entering each search statement separately, everything works, however, when together, I receive an error. <value prompt="Expire Date: Search on or after date: [ Example 07/03/13 ]" isvaluerequired="false" autosubmit="false" operator="AND">expire_dat >= '[value] 00:00:00'</value> <value prompt="Expire Date: Search on or before date:[ Example 08/12/13 ]" isvaluerequired="false" autosubmit="false" operator="AND">expire_dat <= '[value] 00:00:00'</value> A problem occurred while parsing the configuration file widgets/eSearch/eSearchWidget.xml Error #1090 Is there a work-around to this, or did I miss something? Thanks for all your help !!!! Matt Shetzer

Robert, I am seeing something similar with the latest version of the esearch widget, and hopefully this will help. When I use this code, the auto populating field works just fine. <value prompt="Lease ID: [Ex: 2]" isvaluerequired = "false" operator="AND">LEASEID = [value]</value> <value prompt="Lease Status: [ Auto Populate ]" isvaluerequired = "false" uniquevalsfromfield="LeaseStatu" operator="AND">LeaseStatu = '[value]'</value> When I just use this, the field does not populate at all. <value prompt="Lease Status: [ Auto Populate ]" isvaluerequired = "false" uniquevalsfromfield="LeaseStatu" operator="AND">LeaseStatu = '[value]'</value> Or when I stack two auto-populated together, the second auto-populated field (in this example, Landman) does not populate. <value prompt="Well Name (Wildcards)" isvaluerequired = "false" operator="AND">upper(F_NAME) LIKE upper('%[value]%')</value> <value prompt="API:" isvaluerequired="false" operator="AND">API = '[value]'</value> <value prompt="Status [ Auto Populate ]" isvaluerequired="false" uniquevalsfromfield="WellStatus" operator="AND">WellStatus = '[value]'</value> <value prompt="Landman: [ Auto Populate ]" isvaluerequired="false" uniquevalsfromfield="Landman" operator="AND">Landman = '[value]'</value> Please let me know if I'm just doing something incorrect, or if you need any more clarification. Thanks for such a GREAT Widget. Matt Shetzer

Thanks for the idea Dan. I've been down the clustering road, and the look was not appealing. As for the prioritizing of points ,I might look at that and see if I can script it out. I've got about 20 layers containing the different points ,so I need to sample from each layer. Matt Man I can feel for you. It can be difficult when a client insists on doing something that hurts performance. You have probably already tried this, but your client needs to understand that they are requesting something that is beyond the capability of the current technology to deliver in a reasonable manner. Industry best practice is to use scale dependent rendering to help performance. Here are some other ideas you could consider. Clustering. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/flex-api/samples/index.html#/Clustering/01nq00000024000000/ This may improve performance. Perhaps you can prioritize which points show up at world and national scales, then develop several layers that use definition queries to show the prioritized points. As you zoom in the definition queries are removed. This may address your overlap issue. Good Luck, Dan

I'm working with a large dataset of over 100,000 records, and my client would like to have all points displayed at the world view. Cache is not an option as the data changes constantly, and performance is a bit slow (5-6 seconds per refresh). Scale visibility is not an option as the client would like all points displayed at all times to the user. The points overlap each other at the world view, therefore I'm wasting lots of performance there. Is there any re-sample technique that I could use to just display the points that would be seen and not waste performance on the ones buried underneath other points. Thanks in advance, Matt Shetzer

Great. Thanks for the quick answer Robert !!! Matt Matt, If you are just talking text then here is a easy little mod for the ExportMap Widget: protected function export():void
{
var map:Map = ViewerContainer.getInstance().mapManager.map;
map.infoWindow.hide();
map.infoWindowContent = null;
loader.visible = true;
img.filters =[cOver];
const encoder: JPEGEncoder = new JPEGEncoder(quality);
map.logoVisible=logovis;
map.scaleBarVisible=sbvis;
map.zoomSliderVisible = zoomslidevis;
map.opaqueBackground = mapbg;
var mText:Label = new Label();
mText.text = "Hello World!";
mText.right = 5;
mText.bottom = 5;
mText.setStyle("color", "0x000000");
map.staticLayer.addElement(mText);
map.validateNow();
const imageSnapshot:ImageSnapshot = ImageSnapshot.captureImage(map,0,encoder);
map.scaleBarVisible=true;
map.opaqueBackground = null;
map.staticLayer.removeElement(mText);
map.validateNow();
const fileReference:FileReference = new FileReference();
fileReference.save(imageSnapshot.data,fName);
fileReference.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, resetIcon);
fileReference.addEventListener(Event.CANCEL, resetIcon);
}

Thanks Robert for the quick reply. We are getting ready to upgrade to API 3 in an month or two, and I will upgrade to the latest esearch widget at that point. If I could request that in a future enhancement. The biggest reason is the different display of the same data from the popups. Thanks for all you do, and supplying an impressive search tool. Robert, I'm using your Esearch tool (v2.5.1.7), and have noticed when I use the numberformat attribute it actually truncates the number. I need to round the number as I want the value shortened to be consistent with the precision attribute for the popup. I've reviewed your enhancement notes\configuration documents, and don't see it in there, therefore I didn't update my version. Is it possible to round values using the esearch tool. Thank you in advance. Matt Shetzer
