We have an existing application build using ArcGIS .NET Runtime 10.2.7. We are trying to port the logic to the new 'Quartz' release (v100.0). The issue I'm facing is trying to port the following logic. We have a url to an existing feature service layer that I want to create an item for (with tags and description). The problem here seems to be that: Tags and Url properties on PortalItem are now read-only ArcGISPortal object doesn't seem to have a method for saving/creating items on portal (nor does there seem to be any equivalent method on ArcGISPortal Map and FeatureCollection seem to have a 'SaveAs' method that allows you to save Maps and FeatureCollection as items in a Portal, but in this case I just want to create an item that is a link to an existing Feature Service (layer). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Michael, Has there been any update on using the ArcGIS .NET Runtime SDK for server applications? It seems there are multiple threads asking about this, and also a quick google search shows me there have been similar questions on StackOverflow. I would like to know if it is possible to use the ArcGIS .NET Runtime in an ASP.NET (Web API) application. Thank you! Michael

I need to render a Symbol to an Image(Source). For that I can use Symbol.CreateSwatchAsync. There is no overload that would determine the size of the rendered image automatically (Symbol.CreateSwatchAsync Method without any parameters defaults to 32x32 pixels with 96 dpi, which also throws an NotImplementedException when used?). Some symbols need to be rendered at a larger size than others (for instance symbols that depend their size on an attribute value). I do not know up front what type of symbol I need to generate the image for (could be a simple one, or a size dependant one). Questions: - Is there a way to determine the actual rendered size for a symbol upfront so it can be passed into Symbol.CreateSwatchAsync? - Is there some other smart way to render symbols, independent of size? Thanks!

When you Publish a Stream Service there is the option of including a URL to a Feature Layer as Related Features. From all the information I got this option allows you to stream data through a Stream Service that does not include geometry. The client (javascript) will join the features using the TrackId field between data coming from the websocket (Stream Service) and features in the Related Feature Layer. I'm trying to get this to work, but I haven't had any success. I'm looking for a working example of this setup, so that I can use that as a reference. That is, make sure I've configured everything correctly.

I am having trouble correctly configuring a Stream Service with related features (related feature service) enabled. I'm looking for a publicly accessable example of a working Stream Service without geometry, where the geometry gets joined through the related feature service. Thank you!

I need to be able to detect if a Stream Service name is available. I have done this in the past with Feature Services with success. For this I'm using the isServiceNameAvailable endpoint, The documentation only lists Feature Service and Map Service as valid values for the 'type' argument. I have tried 'Stream Service' as an argument, but this will return 'false' on every request to isServiceNameAvailable. What is the right argument for 'type', or is there an alternative way to check if a Stream Service with the name already exists? Thank you!

Dennis, Indeed, you need to install the wss transport in GeoEvent Processor to use the PI Integrator for Esri ArcGIS (beta). The .jar file for the wss transport is included in your download package (zip) from OSIsoft Techsupport. Information on how to install the wss transport can be found in the user manual here. If you do not have the wss transport included in your download package, or you have not obtained the software through the OSIsoft Techsupport website, please contact Michelle Kuiee from OSIsoft (BetaIntegratorForEsri@osisoft.com).

This is a question about the esr-geometry-api-java hosted on Esri's GitHub. Didn't know in what forum to post this question, sorry about that. Can one of the admins move it to a more proper location, if there is one? I am trying to do a within operation on an Envelope and a Point, with different SpatialReferences. The first thing I notice is that a 'normal' Point and Envelope do not contain a SpatialReference, only the OGCPoint does (there is no OGCEnvelope, so I've used a OGCPolygon instead). My Envelope needs to have a SpatialReference of WGS_1984_Web_Mercator_Auxiliary_Sphere (wkid:102100) and the Point needs to have a SpatialReference of GCS_WGS_1984 (wkid:4326). Since the first one is in meters, and the second one in decimal degrees there has to be some kind of transformation. I can't figure out how to do this. I need to know if the point is within the envelope. I have found the WebGeometry object, which bundles a Geometry and a SpatialReference, but I can't figure out how to do spatial operations with it.

Found the solution. Apparently you have to set the html and body to 100% height in CSS (doesn't seem to be the case in a 'standalone' HTML page) Site.css
html,body { height: 100%; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; }

I'm very new to ESRI and the Javascript API in general, so please excuse if this is an easy question 🙂 I'm learning the Javascript API, and I'm trying to embed a map in an MVC4 view. The issue I'm experiencing is that the map seems to be a fixed size (specifically, a fixed height). I can change it to a different absolute height, but not to a dynamic height (i.e. 100%). If I create a simple HTML page using (what seems to be) the same code, it works. MVC View (fixed height)
@{
ViewBag.Title = "Home";
}
@section scripts
{
<script src="http://serverapi.arcgisonline.com/jsapi/arcgis/3.3/"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
dojo.require("esri.map");
var map;
function init() {
alert('hello!');
map = new esri.Map("map", {
basemap: "streets",
center: [4.830088, 52.665051], //long, lat
zoom: 4,
sliderStyle: "small",
});
}
dojo.ready(init);
</script>
}
<h3>Hello World!</h3>
<div id="map" class="claro" style="height:100%">
</div>
and the _Layout.cshtml
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8" />
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width" />
<title>@ViewBag.Title</title>
@Styles.Render("~/Content/themes/base/css", "~/Content/css")
@Scripts.Render("~/bundles/modernizr")
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://serverapi.arcgisonline.com/jsapi/arcgis/3.3/js/dojo/dijit/themes/claro/claro.css">
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://serverapi.arcgisonline.com/jsapi/arcgis/3.3/js/esri/css/esri.css">
</head>
<body>
@RenderBody()
@Scripts.Render("~/bundles/jquery")
@RenderSection("scripts", required: false)
</body>
</html>
Simple HTML page (works, height is 100%)
<html>
<head>
<script src="http://serverapi.arcgisonline.com/jsapi/arcgis/3.3/"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
dojo.require("esri.map");
var map;

basemap: "streets",
center: [4.830088, 52.665051], //long, lat
zoom: 4,
sliderStyle: "small",
});
}
dojo.ready(init);
</script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://serverapi.arcgisonline.com/jsapi/arcgis/3.3/js/dojo/dijit/themes/claro/claro.css">
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://serverapi.arcgisonline.com/jsapi/arcgis/3.3/js/esri/css/esri.css">
</head>
<body>
<h3>Hello World!</h3>
<div id="map" class="claro" style="height:100%">
</div>
</body>
</html>
I've made sure to empty my other CSS files in the MVC4 project, to make sure I don't have other styles attached to #map. I'm lost, but it might be a very obvious solution.
