That makes sense. Just make sure when copying data over and registering it, that I am connected to the READONLYdb as the new data owner, right? That's where the switch would occur, but a sync wouldn't care about owner, it's reading GlobalID's. That makes sense. Pretty labor intensive process to copy over data by department individually, or even with a partial data dump... but would be worth it in the end.

I recently was in discussion with the GIS Specialist at a different county organization. They have two geodatabases that have a 1 way sync from the EDITdb (for departments to perform maintenance and edits) to ReadOnly db (for use with publishing web services) He said that when the data is in the EDITdb, it is all owned by the database admin account named GIS. When they run their nightly sync tool from the EDITdb to the READONLYdb, they are changing the data owner. In the READONLYdb they have set up a handful of different accounts in SQL that have data creator privileges for different departments (DOT, Environmental, ParksAndRec, etc). When the sync tool runs, the data goes from being owned by admin GIS, to being owned by the various departments in the READONLY. So data syncs from being EDIT.GIS.Lakes to READONLY.Environmental.Lakes. Or EDIT.GIS.Parcels to READONLY.Planning.Parcels ... etc I'm curious how this was done as it makes for a very nice organizational pattern in the READONLYdb with everything being separated by data owner (SDE.DOT or SDE.ParksandRec or SDE.Planning, etc). Anybody know how data owners can change and the sync tool can still run without conflicts? I've only run syncs where the data owners remained the same. I don't even know where to begin with changing owners. Any help is appreciated!

Also, could the issue lay somewhere on the DMZ server that is hosting our web adaptor's IIS settings/preferences? Something that forces users to input logins as opposed to "negotiate"? Or alternatively, is there a setting in the various browsers (IE, CHROME, FIREFOX, ETC) that must be ticked on or off to null negotiating credentials and force the server's authentication window to pop up?

Setup- ArcServer 10.2.1 behind firewall - web-tier authentication Web Adaptor installed on IIS server in DMZ - secured with windows active directory ArcGIS Online - service created from REST endpoint on Web Adaptor Create a map service - Save and share as a webapp 1. If I use a template - whenever it is opened, the app prompts users to input their enterprise windows login (GREAT!), Chrome works fantastic, single login. Firefox works great, single login. IE prompts me to input credentials for every single layer in the map (what's up with that?) 2. If I create the app through the web app builder - the prompt never appears, the ESRI basemap and application loads, but the application appears empty with no layers (why is it not prompting for Windows Authentication Login?) Is this an inherent issue with the Web App Builder that if the App is hosted on AGOL it doesn't support prompting for Windows Authentication? Should I look into downloading the app and hosting it on our DMZ server?

Thanks Rebecca, The only public facing services we have, I would say 80% or so need feature services access for data editing. Currently everything is working out with just Web-map access on Collector, however. We want to start venturing into hosting applications. I naturally want to use the Web App Builder out of ease and efficiency, but we are having a slight issue with the certificate our IT department has on the server in our DMZ. When I try to host a Web App on our local machine, it isn't prompting users to input their Windows Domain credentials to access the secure services... it just says operational layers were not able to load. This will be an issue if using Web Apps, or custom JS applications pulling REST endpoints through our Web Adaptor. I've found a few threads previously and it all seems to boil down to the certificate on the DMZ server. So we are looking into that for our "public facing" applications. As for internal applications, I haven't tested anything out yet. I'm having a test environment made so I can try out a few different config. set-ups to see what will/ won't work. Thanks!

Thanks Steve, I'm having our IT department make a test environment within our Firewall (just a virtual server, CORS enabled, with Windows Authentication and IIS). To test a few applications I've been working on. That way I can see it's functionality before hand instead of creating it at home and then trying to find bugs when I deploy a live version. That will come in handy for our internal applications. As for external public facing (which is really just secure services accessible through the Web Adaptor in our DMZ). That's another beast I'll have to try out. But as for moving forward, internal doesn't seem like it will be too difficult. I'm going to try both methods in a very simple web viewer to see what works best before fully diving into it.

I'm running into the same issue. Create the web map, our Windows Domain login credentials request pops up and everything works fine. Try and consume the web map into a web application, no prompt, no data. I'm getting with our IT department now who set up our DMZ and Web Adaptor so we can look at the certificate that is being used as I suspect that is the root of my problems. Once you got yours fixed, when an end user opened the web application, it would prompt them to put in their Enterprise login to continue? Man that's sweet... I'm hoping to get to this point soon. Were there any other obstacles that came about?

My company has ArcServer, as well as the ability to publish to it. We can pull our map/feature services either from the server directly, or from a Web Adaptor we set up in our DMZ that's secured with our Windows Domain Active Directory. We have a couple applications that have been created by consultants, which are good... but we are interested in creating a couple smaller, more specific applications for other departments. For an application that needs to remain behind our firewall and only accessible on our secured domain, what would be the standard method of creating this application? Would we reference JS API's CDN, or download the API and put it on the hosted web server, then point the config file to look at that? We will probably put the application on the same server that is housing ArcServer so for internal use applications we probably don't need to worry about CORS communication between servers (unless I'm misunderstanding the need for this). What about trying to set up an application that is secure, but facing outward. Meaning it pulls data through the Web Adaptor? I'm assuming we would host the application files on the DMZ server, and when a user tries to access the application, a credentials request will pop up. Same questions though, CDN or hosted API? And then the final question, of those situations, which I feel are fairly common.... do either of these situations require the use of a proxy on either the internal server for internal applications, or the DMZ server for outward facing apps? (probably the DMZ server right?) Any help would be appreciated, I've taking a few HTML courses a couple years back, I'm just not the best ArcGIS developer as I haven't really needed to do any, but as of late, the desire to start creating my applications has came about. Thanks! Any one have an links to examples I could look at the underlying scripts to get a grasp on what is needed for either situation?

I have a feature class in my SDE, that is archive enabled, and has Object ID's. I also has a field within it (fieldtype=DATE, fieldname=ProjectedDate), that is configured (mm/dd/yyyy). When I symbolize this layer based on the projected dates in an mxd, it looks fine. I then publish to ArcServer with Feature Service enabled. Everything up to this point looks great. Once I take my feature server url for the service, and add it as an item to ArcGIS Online, something spastic happens. My dates were all configured to be the first day of the month. Whether its 10/01/2020 or 07/1/2018... every entry is on the first. When it is uploaded to ArcGIS Online, what was normally 10/1/2020, has now become 09/30/2020, and a random time has been added to it. I can no longer symbolize off of my original dates. Any suggestions as to where the slip-up is occurring? The original field is a DATE (mm/dd/yyyy). ArcServer 10.2.1 ArcMap 10.2.1 SDE 10.1 (I think) Thanks!

Actually that tabulate intersection tool worked great. The area estimates came out spot on, however I'm not quite sure how to make sense of the percentage calculation. When I look at everything that was created from one particular parcel, the area adds up, but the percentage only adds up to around 60%? Not really sure what this percentage is calculated off of if the areas are matching. Any clue? Thanks by the way, this is a pretty helpful tool

I have a feature class of wetland mapping. It is a series of various polygons, all irregular shapes and sizes. I also have a parcel boundary feature class that is basically even sized rectangular polygons. I am trying to divide the wetland polygons into a "subset", where the polygons are "cut" by the boundaries of the parcels, that way I can get area estimates per parcel of how much wetlands each parcel has. Hope that made sense, any help would be appreciated!

Alright the set-up, ArcServer 10.2.1, Web Adaptor is on a Windows Server with IIS in our firewall's DMZ. Configuration... ArcServer -security authentication process has been change to web-tier -sharing settings have been changed, our AGOL accounts url (https://****.maps.arcgis.com) for our Portal URL -sharing settings have been changed, our Web Adaptor url (hasen't been named yet so still using ip address) for our service url. ArcGIS Online -The Server that our Web Adaptor resides on has been added as a "trusted server" that credentials can be sent to. Server in the DMZ (I am going off of what our IT department has told me, I don't have access to this server but they are been really helpful in trying to figure this out) -IIS has been configured for web-tier authentication Here's the issue.... I will make a specific map service "private", however, the user roles present to make this service accessible to are still ArcServer factory roles. I share the service with a group on our ArcGIS Online account, and try accessing the data in a web-map. Go to view it in Explorer after logging in with AGOL credentials. Open the map, Explorer prompts me to enter credentials in again as the layer is "secure", I put my credentials in, and it continues to tell me I have invalid credentials. Does anyone know where my communication of credentials is being lost? What configuration setting have I missed? Any help would be appreciated. I feel like the set-up is very close, but I missing something very important.

I have a layer of polygons joined by a relationship class to a table by Field = DistrictIDNumber The Table has multiple entries for each polygon so it is a one to many relationship. Is there any way to symbolize the polygons based on count of related entries? Lets say they are number of hydrants and the polygons are districts within a county. Can I symbolize the polygons, in graduated colors, based on the number of hydrants reported in that district? I can't use the actual point data of the table. I hope this made sense. I'm open to programming solutions if anyone knows of anything. Thanks.
