Hi there, I am new to the java scripting and have followed some of the documentation to create a simple map. I have put on the basemaps control along with the Home Button. What I was trying to find was some code examples for creating a panel or a place to put some widget buttons such as in the basic viewer sample. Just having a hard time finding some good examples around that. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nick

Hey Ken, Do you know if this is possible in Mobile today? Thanks, Nick Jeff LeProwse built an applet for ArcPad commonly known as the AddXYZ applet in the ArcPad/Trimble/GPS communities. I had a colleague ask me if it was possible to hook into the GPS controller of a handheld running ArcGIS Mobile and populate certain fields like X, Y, Z, PDOP, HDOP, etc... This was a very handy applet that allowed the admin to collect valuable information regarding the quality of a GPS point. Is there any way to do this out of the box with ArcGIS Mobile. I would think ESRI might have built something in to recognize certain fields names and populate them with information. In other words, a reserved field name for GPS collection. If not then would ESRI consider building this into the ArcGIS Mobile Application and providing the user with a field map of what the fields should be named, and what type the field should be in the geodatabase? I think a review of what Jeff LeProwse built would be an excellent addition to ArcGIS Mobile. I have had a few colleagues ask if this is possible so I know there is interest for it. I can provide names and contact information if you would like. I have 4 that I know of right now who are very interested in this functionality and I am sure they are not alone. So for the poll, my question is this; Would anyone else like to see certain field autopopulate with GPS information like X, Y, Z, Lat, Long, PDOP, HDOP, etc...?

Hey Geoff, Thanks for your post. So are you saying that since we have the Ericsson C5621gw model, there is currently no way that I can utilize the GPS on ArcGIS mobile 10.1.1 for example? Thanks for any info on this... Nick Pardon me for jumping in to this thread, but I think there is more information that you should be aware of. In the US, the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 model that has Broadband capability is fitted with the Sierra EM7700 - Gobi Wireless device. As your screenshot shows, that device also provides an NMEA stream via a virtual COM port. However, in Europe (and possibly elsewhere), Lenovo uses the Ericsson c5621gw hardware for Broadband. See http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?&DocID=DS033224 This hardware ONLY supports the Broadband function - it does not supply NMEA info via a virtual COM port. In fact, out of the box, a European ThinkPad Tablet 2 has no COM ports listed in Device Manager. In both cases, GPS info is supplied via the Broadcomm chip, but the info is exposed via the Location Provider API. If the GPS application software isn't written to interface to this, but only to the legacy virtual COM ports, then it won't work. Hi folks, I am using mobile 10.1.1 with a backend 10.0 server. I have enabled attachments on my data however when uploading the mobile project, and trying to collect a feature, the options are not there, as shown in below link, to allow me to add the attachment. I have no problem adding via arcmap. The only thing I can think of is if I need to be at 10.1 server for this to work or not, or should I be ok with 10 server. Thanks for the info, Nick http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/windows-mobile/10.1.1/index.html#//007v0000003z000000

Hi Denise, Thanks for all your help with posting in trying to clear things up on using attachments. Maybe you have some further info for me...I'm using mobile 10.1.1 and have server 10.0 in the background with my data in a SQL database with the feature class enabled for attachments. I refered to: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/windows-mobile/10.1.1/index.html#//007v0000003z000000 This issue i'm having is the attachment option does not seem to appear when I try and collect features for the attachment enabledfeature class. Would you know of any possible issues with 10.1.1 and attachments or what I may be missing? Would the fact thatI am using server 10.0 be an issue? Does it need to also be at 10.1.1? Also, have you or does anyone know how I would then be able to display these photos in the flex viewer real time? This is the big value so as information is collected it is viewed on sync real time on the flex viewer. Any info would be hugely appreciated. Thanks for any info. Nick All, Your ArcGIS for Windows Mobile (AGWM) workflows were not specific but did mention photo and attachments and wanted to make you aware that geodatabase attachments were introduced at AGWM 3.0 replacing raster fields for photo attachments, as well as added support for attchments to Mobile Tools toolbox, and syncronization of features & attachments through a mobile map service or check in field edits through the Synchronize Mobile Cache Tool. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/windows-mobile/3.0/#/What_s_new_in_ArcGIS_for_Windows_Mobile/007v00000024000000/ Please see ArcGIS Help 10.1 resources for more details regarding enabling attachments, http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//01m90000000r000000. Regards, Denise

Hi there, I am currently using version 10.1.1 mobile and am taking advantage of using the Streetmap basemap. This works great as you are not required to be using this in a connected session as it's local on the device. I am wondering if there is anyway to get at imagery that would be used the same way. It's a bit unclear in the help as to the use of ArcGIS online as basemaps. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nick

I'm using 10.1 server with sde database. I successfully created a mobile project on my Trimble Juno 3D that will allow me to edit / collect features and automatically push the changes to the server. These changes can be seen from my other applications connected to the database. However, on the Trimble I can't figure out how to refresh changes to the database made elsewhere. On the iOS app, it automatically refreshes the data every time you pan or zoom on the map. I'd like the mobile app to perform similarly or auto-refresh every 10 minutes or so. Any suggestions? Thanks! Andrew, did you resolve? I am having some similar issues. I would like to discuss with you if you can... Nick

Hi folks, I have a unique problem (i think) that has to do with synchronizing.... First off, I am using the latest ArcGIS mobile 3.1 with an enterprise geodatabase 9.3 in SQL. I am also using ArcGIS server 10. The data is versioned with globalID's. here's my issue: I have 4 different services that are slightly different however for the most part, the feature classes exist within all 4 services. I havecreated 4 seperate ArcGIS mobile projects through project center. What I am finding is when I collect data in one project, I am able to sync this data no problem back to the database and can see it fine within the service and mxd. The problem I am having is when Iopen up another project, re-sync all of the data layers, at times, features are not showing up even though I just sync'd them and they exist in the database. Even when I look at the service used in project 2 (second project opened), the data appears to be there. It's just not viewable from ArcGIS mobile. It's a strange one but very important to us as our users need to be able to go between projects and expect the data to be there on their mobile devices. Has anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any help on this, Nick

Hi there, I am wondering if there is any functionality that would allow me to based on a date field that is selected, automatically populate another field with a date value 1 month or 1 year later... So based on a set interval. I am currently on build 2525 but will be moving to Mobile 3.0 very soon. Has anyone seen this or have anything built through SDK for something similar? Thanks for any info, Nick

Hi there, I am wondering if anyone know if 10.1 or future releases (3.0) will allow out of the box streaming of points to a point feature class. Basically, what I would like to do is set the GPS interval and collect streaming points to a point layer. Each point will contain all of the relevant GPS information ie, PDOP, Time, etc. Has anyone seen or written through SDK this functionality for 10.0? I am very new to SDK and would not be able to write this at this time so any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nick

Great widget Mark. To quote Mark "Is there anyway to have date values in the unique values box formated as dates, rather than the numbers that are actually stored? " For example : <format dateformat="shortDate"/> or dateformat="MM/DD/YYYY" Thanks, Nick

Hi Matt, Did you ever get anywhere on the date formatting with the selection widget? Thanks, Nick Fantastic functionality added to FSV. Thanks for sharing this great tool. Is there anyway to have date values in the unique values box formated as dates, rather than the numbers that are actually stored? For example : <format dateformat="shortDate"/> or dateformat="MM/DD/YYYY" Thanks, Matt Shetzer
