Hello, coming across this issue today, below are my findings. I did a print(result.getOutput(0)), ... print(result.getOutput(2)) and it looks like this for me: 0: true 1: {"publishStatus":"completed","publishMessage":"","publishResult":{"type":"Map Service","serviceurl":"https://my.domain.org/server/rest/services/Hosted/mycachename/MapServer","serviceItemId":"123HostedTileLayerItemID4567890A","jobId":"123JobID4567890ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQR"}} 2: 123TilePackageItemID4567890ABCDE I was after the Item IDs of the tile package and the published hosted layer, so this worked for me: thisdict = json.loads(result.getOutput(1)) print("Tile Layer (hosted) Item ID on Portal: thisdict["publishResult"]["serviceItemId"]) print("Tile Package (tpkx) Item ID on Portal: result.getOutput(2))

When a data frame has clipping applied (to the outline of features or a custom extent), a subset of features for visible layers may be visible while other features outside of the clip could be entirely hidden. In a layout that is using this data frame, these hidden features are still represented in the legend, even when Feature Display Options > Only show features visible in the map extent is checked on for a layer that is visible in the Legend. I would like to see Esri implement something similar to "Only show features visible in the map extent", but applied to the clipped data frame instead (perhaps a "Only show features visible within the clipped area") Or any other way Esri chooses to implement to allow users to be able to apply this is fine. Example: A data frame has clip to selected feature applied - a district boundary - and after clipping, only cities A and B can be seen within, and nearby cities C and D are obscured. In the map layout, if the data frame is zoomed to the selected district boundary, the Cities legend would show A, B, C, D, but because the map reader can't actually see cities C and D, those should be left off the legend. This has also been logged as ENH-000147996; Kamau/Esri suggested I submit an ArcGIS Idea.

I also couldn't get the HTTPS server up per the https://nodejs.org/en/knowledge/HTTP/servers/how-to-create-a-HTTPS-server/ instructions. But I got things working with the following: I modified app/src/index.js... Add in the following constants after the first chunk of constants: const fs = require('fs-extra') const https = require('https') Comment out the last line (koop.server.listen..) and put in the following in its place: https.createServer( { key: fs.readFileSync('key.pem'), cert: fs.readFileSync('cert.pem') }, koop.server ).listen(config.port, () => { koop.log.info(`Server listening at https://localhost:${config.port}`) }) I placed my key.pem and cert.pem in the app folder where I would be calling the koop serve (don't need to add any parameters) command from. I think that's it, hope it helps..

We have a number of TINs covering our county and I would like to do a hyperlink script for the index layer to add the appropriate TIN to the Table of Contents when a feature is clicked with the hyperlink tool. However, I'm having no luck finding the correct Python code to make this happen: Testing with variations of "add a [****]" code I get arcpy.mapping.Layer erroring with "invalid data source", arcpy.MakeFeatureLayer_management says "Dataset does not exist or is not supported", etc. Sample code where it errors on the last line: import arcpy
mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument("CURRENT")
df = arcpy.mapping.ListDataFrames(mxd, "Layers")[0]
tinpath = r"\\here\thar\be\TINs"
arcpy.env.workspace = tinpath
tin = arcpy.ListDatasets("tin*", "Tin")[0]
arcpy.MakeFeatureLayer_management(tin, "tin1") Thanks!

Put in an incident to ESRI regarding having installed Visual C# 2010 Express so that I can work with ArcObjects SDK (bottom of AO SDK 10.2.x sys. req.) because I need to migrate a 10.0 SOE to 10.2.x (Migrating a 10.0 .NET SOE to later versions, How to migrate a .NET SOE to the latest release) but after installation, at step 3. In the Installed Templates tree, expand Visual C# > ArcGIS > Server Object Extensions, there are "No items found." Freddie G./ESRI also found this to be the case when he installed C# 2010 Express: "The SOE templates only exist for the .NET 3.5 Framework. In Express versions of Visual Studio you cannot specify the .NET Framework when selecting the templates." Freddie noted that if you don't want to upgrade to a full version of VS, you could use an online sample as a template. Freddie also provided the REST & SOAP SOE templates in the attached file. (Also relevant: How do I change the targeted .NET 4.0 Framework to version 3.5 in an existing VS 2010 Express project?@)

Robert, That line works for me and my IE9 coworker in the ESRI sample and the code I was working on. This probably works best for us (since it would probably be a hassle to get all of my internal users to change their compatibility settings for the ubiquitous IE browser we all have on our machines here) Thank you!

Hi Robert, I Reset as you suggested, "Deleted personal settings", restarted my computer, opened IE11, chose "Don't use recommended settings" for "Set up Internet Explorer 11", didn't enable and add-ons, but still am experiencing the no-TextSymbol issue.

Hi Tim, My application isn't ready for public consumption, but the same issue happens for me when using ESRI's Points for labeling sample. Here's my copy of the same thing, but I'm guessing you will not have any issues viewing the generated TextSymbol labels in IE since ESRI reported they didn't have any problems with that page (but I still have IE issues when viewing the page within my LAN, I guess...)

Maybe it's just me, but since I've contacted ESRI and they can't figure it out either, I'm throwing this out there in case someone has experienced this and can shed some light on the subject: With some TextSymbol labeling code I am working on, I have discovered that when I view my work in Internet Explorer (11), the labels do not show up. They show up in Chrome and Firefox. I also see the same thing when I use the Points for labeling sample: When I copy and paste the source code for this sample into a HTML page and view it on my web server, the labeling does not appear for me in just IE. However, when I view ESRI's live sample in IE, the labels DO show up. My coworker also experiences the same when viewing these on her computer in IE. After contacting ESRI Technical Support, we tried looking at the IE Developer Console etc, but no errors were reported when running the page. Also even though I do not see the TextSymbol labels show up when I view my copy of the Points for labeling sample, the ESRI tech had no problem viewing the labels viewing the same page hosted on my external web server. Because they were not able to reproduce the issue on their end, I couldn't get an incident ticket created. So, anybody got an idea what may be going on given the above? Is it some kind of strange security setting in my LAN that enables us to view TextSymbols in IE on ESRI's site but not on the same code served out of my web server? Something else to try to help troubleshoot this? Thank you for your time, Kirstin

I used that workaround code, but had to change the ".esrilegendLayer" to ".esriLegendLayer" and then the swatches showed up for me. Also used instead: map.on("extent-change", onZoomEnd);

I was able to publish the tutorial feature service yesterday if I changed the name slightly, but I want to use the original name mentioned in the tutorial. However, when I do, I get a Service Publishing Result error: Packaging succeeded, but publishing failed. A feature service named 'LA_County_Toxics_Release_Inventory' already exists.... I tried deleting items in https://mysite.maps.arcgis.com/home/content.html, and removing the draft service in My Hosted Services in ArcCatalog, but I still get this error. Where do I go to delete this feature service so I can recreate it again? I tried the "Overwrite an existing service" option when doing Share as Service, but no services are listed at all when I get to the next step in that wizard... Thank you

Hello, Just wanted to chime in that I'm also getting the "Failed to execute (UploadServiceDefinition)" error and seeing similar to what others have mentioned in their posts above. I'm following this "Publish a feature service from ArcGIS for Desktop" tutorial. I was able to publish the tiled map service in the earlier tutorial fine.
