Earlier Enterprises may not have had a hard limit specified in the documentation but there has been a lot of discussion on issues packaging data. There's a good chance that's why these hard limit recommendations eventually came to be. I'm on 10.9.1 and I'm having issues packaging offline areas due to the size of the packages. Since discovering the size limit in the 11.2 documentation, I wondered if the hard limit had always existed but not specifically mentioned. I'm surprised you haven't had a bad time doing this. It can take ages for fieldworkers to download. You can create up to 16 offline map areas per web map. I'd recommend creating multiple offline areas, as optimized (small) as possible, instead of a single behemoth. I'd look to the 11.1 or latest size limit recommendations as a good guide - under 1gb is better. I discovered that my map already had 16 offline map areas of various sizes (up to 3GB in size) which led me to question how the size limit was enforced. Then, I realised that when the offline map areas were created, they were very likely to be under 2GB in size initially. As the size of some of the feature services grew, the data in the offline managed grew as well through the 'update' process. The 'Update' process appears to ignore size limits which is how I ended up with packages >2GB in size. As soon as I try to recreate the exact same 'area', the packaging will fail because of the size limit above. It does introduce a lot of issues in maintaining these offline areas because you could not knowingly be maintaining a perfectly working offline area that has exceeded the size limit but suddenly could not be recreated again due to the size limit and the result is a broken offline map area. It does look like this limit can be configured according to : https://support.esri.com/en-us/bug/unable-to-create-an-offline-area-for-a-large-data-size-bug-000157485

Hi, According to https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/use/take-maps-offline.htm, it appears that there's a 2.5GB size limit for offline map areas in ArcGIS 11.2 However, this size limitation was not mentioned in 11.1,11.0 and 10.9.1 and I was wondering if previous versions had a size limit at all or was this recently introduced in 11.2. In addition to that, does the size limit only applies to the entire offline area package or individual feature layers/rasters. I'm struggling to recall but I felt like I've packaged managed offline areas with sizes that exceed the 2.5GB limit.

Swapping basemap did not solve the issue for me but I did manage to fix it by opening another window using Incognito and logging in again. I believe the cause was me having logins both to REST and Portal in the same session using different accounts. When Portal was trying to execute the OfflinePackaging geoprocessing service, my other username appeared as the initiator instead which Portal then complained that the 'Map Area iteam xxxx was missing related map'. It made sense because managed offline areas can only be created by the owner of the WebMap in Portal and when another user tries to generate one, the job fails.

Yep, having the same issue. After upgrading to Pro 3.2.1, the arcgis package disappeared from the package manager in Pro. The package does exist though if you run conda list in the Python Command Prompt (as shown below) Looks like Pro isn't reading the packages from conda correctly. Anyway, to solve the issue you're having, you can try following this article here which uses the Python command prompt to clone the Python environment. https://support.esri.com/en-us/knowledge-base/how-to-clone-a-python-environment-with-the-python-comma-000020560 Then, you can manually ask conda to install the package you require using the conda install <package_name> command.

Yeah, I did. The script runs fine until it reached a certain time period and the error "A general error occurred: Could not login using Pro authencation. Please verify in Pro that you are logged in" appears. I also tried to 're-authenticate' by adding GIS ("pro") inside the loop instead of outside but that also did not work. I wonder how the GIS("pro") method is actually authenticating behind the scenes.....

Hi, I've got a Python script running in a loop to create offline managed areas using and it appears to work until it errors out after successfully creating several managed areas with the following error : "A general error occurred: Could not login using Pro authencation. Please verify in Pro that you are logged in" As you can imagine, I used the GIS("pro") method to authenticate to our Enterprise Portal. I've tried running it several times and the script definitely works until it hits this error. I checked my ArcGIS Pro and it definitely was still connected, working and licensed. I temporarily changed it to built-in account and the script ran successfully to completion but I'm unable to use this method in a production environment. I suspect it could have something to do with a timeout of some sort.... does anyone else have this issue? Using : ArcGIS Pro 3.1.0 ArcGIS Python API 2.1.0.3

Thanks for your reply, I was actually messing around with the apps file because I tried to migrate my old apps to a newer version of WAB. It wasn't liking something in particular and I thought I could remove bits of reference to some of the problematic apps. I did make a backup copy of the code but any modifications to the code seems to have corrupted the whole database. Lesson learned, don't mess around with any of the db files in WAB . At least it is still recoverable but there isn't a way to assign it back to the AGOL accounts that it was originally created from.

Hi All, I'm having issues with WAB now because I accidentally deleted a portion of the text from the Server/DB/apps file. I did make a text copy of it stored in another notepad and when I tried pasting it back and relaunching WAB, it gave me a syntax error (unexpected end of input). I tried very hard to look for mistakes in the code by making sure that the code has the appropriate parenthesis but being unfamiliar with the language used, that is all I could check for. It is really strange since it is the exact same information unless there are hidden characters/hashes that I can't see. Now, I'm stuck with a broken WAB and I don't really want to recreate the apps from zip because some the apps were created from a different AGOL account and by different users. I don't know if there is a way to recover this information. Any help is much appreciated ! Thanks, Weng

Hi, Just a little background on my question, I always thought that a select_one question will always store the choice values into a domain in AGOL and the labels as the description. However, I have two select_one questions and one of them has a domain but the other one doesn't. The only difference between the two is that one of them had a choice filter applied to it. My question is that does choice filters or any other dependencies affect how Survey 123 stores domain values? Thanks, Weng

Just measured mine and it started in 29 seconds from a fresh reinstall of 10.3 . I thought ArcMap's startup performance would be a function of : CPU Single Core Speed ( the higher the better !) Hard Disk read/write speed Existing connections/folders that ArcMap needs to find Network speed/policies (if any of your stuff is connected to a network) Source of license server (where is it reading the license from ) Intermediate files associated with an ArcMap session (GP results etc) Data in the MXD itself Versions of ArcMap??? (Can't be sure of this because I don't have the stats for different installations of ArcMap)

Hi James, Will the script also sync records with only their attributes updated? This can be through users updating their collected data through AGOL after submissiong from Survey 123. Thanks, Weng

Hi, I have a feature layer published on AGOL and we have setup a form on Survey 123 pushing records through to the feature layer for about a month or so. I'll avoid describing too much about how this works in Survey 123 as this would be more of a question for the Survey 123 guys. In short, my feature layer got corrupted for some reason and we have no idea why that happened. The only thing that we think might have caused this is Survey 123 pushing a record with an old schema to our latest feature layer running the latest schema. On inspection through REST, I found that the global ID field was deleted and I couldn't recover any of the attachments linked. We had over 340 over attachments and they have all disappeared . Tried a couple of stuff such as creating a replica (failed ), downloading it as FileGDB gives you an error and randomly querying the attachment ( in REST) based on ObjectIDs all failed. My question is if there is any way I can recover the attachments at all? I can still see the attachment layer in REST I suspect it is empty but I have no way of checking it. Are there any other clever ways that I can recover it? Thanks, Weng
