I have been involved with GIS for over 20 year. I am now a GIS manager at a small water utility. We set up our GIS in an Enterprise SDE geodatabase in 2004-2006 using ESRI's then-current water utility schemas and a geometric network. My sense is that i must begin by massaging our existing data, especially the numerous "connectivity lines" that exist throughout our GIS in the wMain feature class. We are currently on ArcMap 10.6.1. We have an AGOL organization. We have not installed or set up Portal as of yet. I have been experimenting, on a limited basis with ArcGIS Pro. Hearing that i cannot edit a geometric network in Pro is scaring me off that approach as far as trying to get comfortable with editing in Pro. What tools or white papers do i need to look into to get on a path to convert to the Utility Network?

Old Dog ArcMap user looking for ways/reasons to start to work ArcPro into my common GIS routines. We recently moved everything (all GIS content) to new VM locations and now i think i need to Set Data Sources for a number of my enterprise geodatabase feature classes. I see the "Set Data Source" button in the Layer Properties dialog, but this does not seem to show me the network geodatabase connection locations i need. Looks like it's only looking within the project (old) for new source locations. Is there a "Project Data Source" setting somewhere i need to use for this process?

I have a couple of .mxt files i have used in ArcGIS desktop (10.4) that are architectural/engineering style borders for our various size plots, Arch D, Arch E, etc, that include company logos, project id boxes etc. Can i bring these existing .mxt files into ArcGIS Pro to add to my layouts there? Thanks!

I have a feature class table that includes a text field that contains an address string, i.e.: 123 W Walnut Street. I need to end up with two additional fields, one with JUST the leading address number (BLDG_NUM) and then, everything AFTER the number in another field (STREET). I don't need DIR, TYPE or anything else about the full address string broken out of the original string. None of the geoprocessing tool "Standardize Addresses" locator types include this type of split. I'm thinking the statement known as splitList might help, but i don't know the syntax. Can anyone help?

No matter what .mxd i might be using, I get this message. The program appears to be working fine, except for this odd sounding message. Searching in Google brings up pages of "Stack Overflow" coding-type language that is Greek to me (so to speak). Any thoughts?

Our water utility recently purchased a small municipal wastewater system and we are now looking at adding the sewer to our GIS. We're actually creating a separate (personal) geodatabase for the sewer using the ESRI Sewer Data Model. i have a simple question about this. We have about 1,500 sewer connections in this small municipality, about half of which have both a vent and a cleanout on the lateral. The model includes a cleanout feature type, but no vent feature. Has anybody got a simple solution to this situation? On the laterals, the vent is closer to the structure, with a trap at the bottom of it, and then the cleanout is between the vent and the main, which has a simple tee at the lateral. Anybody have any advice for this geodatabase construction situation??
