Previously I made a question on the update of the widgets according to the zoom level. This time I was wondering if there is widget that could update according to the selected date by the user. I can create several widgets each for a date. but I don't know if one would work with several dates. I have a feature class with several type of vehicles. an dthose vehicles are seen in different parts of the city in different dates. and I would like as an example, to summarize total count of the vehicles for different dates in the same widget... just with the touch of a button/click. is this possible? is there a work around? cheers Pedro

Today I tried the operation dashboard. I made a sample of my data and upload it to our server. I used the dashboard to retrieve some statistics. It worked well and the results are good, although I need to refine and practise to explore it better. I was wondering if it is possible that all the widgets are updated according to the zoom level? Imagine world view the widgets gives statistics for all the products, as zoomming in, the statistics become continental, regional, local according to the data in the viewer. cheers, Pedro

Should be that easy but it is not. In fact it did not work as you proposed. I tried a different way the result is strange. for a large area if in the inspector the Block parameters/type is equal to “no division” nothing is randomized but if I change to “recursive subdivision” it will randomize between each subdivision but it will lose the orientation. All this and being able to define in the inspector the density of small areas that are extruded (I think this part I have done in the original rule file in the part for texture... I assume for the density should be similar) Have a look I know looks awful but I am learning... any help is welcome ################################################### # Control Attributes # attr Height = 2.6 attr Width = 2.4 attr Lenght = 50%:6 50%:12 else: 0 attr spacerow = rand (10,16) attr spacecoll = rand (1,3) ################################################### #height test const extrudeFactor = 20% : rand(1,3) 20% : rand (3,5) 20% : rand (2,4) 20% : rand (1,2) 20% : rand (3,4) else: 1 ######################################################################## ######################################################################## ### ### RULES @StartRule Lot--> ######Divide the ground 1 split(x,adjust) {~1:Nothing| {Lenght:Ground | spacecoll:Nothing | Lenght:Ground}* | ~1:Nothing} Ground--> ######Divide the ground 2 split(z,adjust) {~1:Nothing| {Width:Gfloor | Width:Gfloor | Width:Gfloor | Width:Gfloor | spacerow:Nothing| Width:Gfloor| Width:Gfloor| spacerow:Nothing}* | ~1:Nothing} Gfloor--> case scope.sx < 5: # too small to build a house NIL else: extrude (floor(extrudeFactor)*Height) split (y) { Height : Casa } *

Hi, created the heights randomly but not able to create a sort of percentage for it. this is the attempt> #Attributes attr height = 2.6 attr extrudeFactor = 40% : 0 10% : 2 10% : 3 else: 1 #Rules (...) Extrusion--> extrude (floor(float(listRandom(extrudeFactor)))*height) # didn't work, before I had ...extrude (floor(rand(0,5))*height) but I would like to have a bit more control over the random result

well i am still using the CE 2015.1. And I know the potential of online/portal. But I still need to use the offline as my network does not have access to the internet. I hear in the last geodesign conference in Netherlands that there are other ways to share the scenes - ArcEarth, maybe other that I don't recall. but for all that I need a newer version of the CE. Thanks for the help! Pedro

Well, if keep the block parameters type I will only have one seed value. I have just done the "recursive subdivision" of the block and no, it is all the same seed value. However for each area within the lot different shape sizes are being made 6 or 12 - Success. well partial success. I still have in front of the random heights according to a percentage and the fact that the shapes are cut/trimmed in the limit of the block. I am trying to understand how the international city scene has been made to use some of the rule...

strange but does not randomize between the two values... it only shows the value for the highest percentage.

Hi, CityEngine 2015 is it possible to use 'rand' to randomize only two values, such as: attr lenght = rand (6 - 12) the use of "," will give me all the numbers between those two. That is not what I want. I test this and it worked for a Block (Parameters = No subdivision and Uneven) and I tried again for another block with the same parameters and did not work. is there an alternative? cheers Pedro

Thanks for the answer, at the moment, after a change, the rule file will random through a set of colours and not all the colours. Besides the intended rule file will be a set of textures (as the name imply in the rule file, it will randomize between types of containers - the typical that are found in storage areas in the ports). Could you please further explain the AGOL account. thanks for the help Pedro

thanks for the answer! I think the first approach is not valid. I tried already your second suggestion... the result is still an area with 'nothing' between the sea and the mooring facility. I am convinced that the best solution could be that the mooring facility is also a shape, with a rule file that extrude negative heights. I just need to have time to test it. I'll keep you informed! cheers Pedro

Hi there, Just had my second project done with CE. My first project went smoothly but this one I found several issues that I would like to expose to the community. - It is a pity that CE reorder alphabetically the attributes of feature classes imported from ArcGIS. I say it is alphabetically because for my data, happened that, but maybe it is random. - My GDB's have subtypes and domains... when imported to CE... it just become a bunch of number in the attribute, solution pass everything to shapefile, edit it manually/batch and import to CE the shp. - Did I made something wrong or the order of adding the layers into the scene (normally I drag and drop from the navigator into the viewport) is the order that will be on the webscene. I tried to change the order in "scene data contents" (I am not sure about this name), but end up always with the original order. - Any suggestion on how to manipulate the sea__water to appear that it ends in a mooring structure? I mean the water body reaches the mooring structure and this is a four/five meters above the water plane… the water is a shape and the land is just represented by imagery. Possible solution would be to add a land layer and make different heights for both layers? - All the data has been imported from shapefiles, two rasters - DTM and an imagery, exception for four skethup models. With these models the file size ‘*.3ws’ rose from 9mb to 18mb. If by any chance I would have had a 32 bit imagery the file (‘*.3ws’) would easily have reached the 30 mb. I had some problems with the performance of my computer, probably the configuration of the graphic card is not optimized for the use of CE, but I have not found documentation. The resolution of the DTM was 1.9 m/pixel 16bit, could this be the problem, and if yes where is the limit? I know that there is probably more stuff that had influence… But it is very hard to find documentation on this. cheers, Pmss

Well indeed that is the problem! Sadly I needed to reduce the detail of the objects, this is the new rule in case someone will have the same problem: I still don't understand how these cities of the wizard_cities or ESRI lib, perform so well... they have much more data than mine. attr containerHeight = 2.6 @StartRule Lot --> extrude(floor(rand(1,5))*containerHeight)

Hello Hello, I have more than 1700 objects that use the rule bellow... and the the performance of the resulting webscene has been reduced drastically with the inclusion of those. I have seen webscenes of cities with much more objects than I have. and those are working very well. How can I improve the performance of the webscene? cheers Pedro The rule: attr containerHeight = 2.6 @StartRule Lot --> extrude(floor(rand(1,5))*containerHeight) print("Height: " +scope.sy +"\nContainers: " +scope.sy/containerHeight +"\n---") #print for control split(y){containerHeight: ColorContainer}* #optional split ColorContainer --> color(rand, rand, rand)
