HTTPS, short for Hypertext Transfer Protocol for Secure communication, allows for the secure transmission of data, both incoming and outgoing, between a client, such as a web browser, and the server. Esri is making the HTTPS-Only change in a phased approach. Esri customers must act now to be ready for this change. Currently, ArcGIS Online supports configuring HTTP or HTTPS. With the update planned for December 8, 2020, the “HTTPS Only” default will be enforced, and customers will no longer have the option of turning it off. However, for ArcGIS Enterprise the customer has full control of the HTTPS/HSTS enforcement for their configuration. ArcGIS Hub is being updated to enforce the use of the HTTPS-Only standard on all sites and pages, starting September 8th, 2020. Esri is planning to enforce HTTPS Only in the World Geocoding Service on September 29, 2020. This important security update is likely to affect some ArcGIS software and custom solutions. Additional details regarding the ArcGIS HTTPS enforcement is here

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) is almost month away. This is the equivalent of Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation(GDPR) dealing with consumer privacy. What is it? The law gives consumers broad new privacy rights and mandates how companies must manage, store and use customer data. Because of this large scope and the state’s important role in the US economy, this law is bound to impact marketing organizations across the entire US and beyond if they manage data on California residents. So, what is going to change you ask? This is similar to GDPR, the CCPA will require organizations to manage the personal data of 12% of Americans in a whole new way. Consumer data collection will become much more complex and data privacy will become a significant issue. Beginning in January 2020, new obligations are going to require organizations to: Disclose to consumers what data is being collected and with whom it is shared or sold, Stop selling data if the consumer requests it, Delete data if the consumer requests it, Obtain explicit data collection opt-in for minors under the age of 16, Obtain parental consent for minors under the age of 13, Provide an easy mechanism for consumers to exercise their rights, including a free phone number and a prominent mechanism on their website explicitly labeled “Do Not Sell My Personal Information.” Under CCPA, if consumers choose to exercise any of these rights, companies may not charge a higher price or offer a lower level of service (within reason). NOTE: Esri is currently working on ensuring alignment by enforcement 1/1/2020. If you have any questions regarding privacy with Esri products and services, please reach out to the Esri Software Security and Privacy @ Software_Security@esri.com Additional information regarding CCPA.

ArcGIS Online was granted a FedRAMP Tailored Low (Li-SaaS) Authority to Operate(ATO) which went into effect June 28th 2018. When a solution such as ArcGIS Online is authorized, specific applications, services, and providers are assessed as part of the effort. The security controls for this authorization align with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-53 (Revision 4) which maps to International Standards Organization (ISO) 27001 & 15408 controls.

You can log this as an idea on the ideas site for future consideration. However, as it stands, ArcGIS Pro licenses will be only managed in ArcGIS Online or if you are using Portal for ArcGIS, then the functionality is available in Portal for ArcGIS. Link to the Ideas site is below: ArcGIS Ideas http://ideas.arcgis.com

This is as designed. At 10.1 ArcGIS for Server did not support multiple domains. Since 10.2, the support for multiple domains was implemented. This means that at 10.2 and above, when using Windows users for security, you will need to specify the domain prefix. This because if you have ArcGIS server connected to two different domain for users and roles, it needs to be able to differentiate the users. Say you have the user "Joe Sheemore" in the domain lively the user would be lively\jsheemore. This same user can be in the domain deadly and the user name would be deadly\jsheemore. If you just specify jsheemore as in the previous version(10.1) then ArcGIS for Server will not be able to find the user. Hence the need to specify the domain prefix. I hope this information is helpful & good luck

Hello Dan, If you have SharePoint 2013, then install EM4S 2013 3.0.x. Although, the "Test-SpContentDatabase" command is not required to validate a database against a given web application. This command can be used with any post SP2 2007 database or with any SharePoint 2010 database. The insight gained will essentially reveal the WHAT IF errors and warnings associated with upgrading the database without making changes to the database. The database itself need to be part of any farm and simply needs to be online in SQL. As a recommendation that to always run test-spcontentdatabase on your 2010 farm before adding ANY content database to your farm despite the version. Even if you can spin up a 2010 instance you should run this command even if you??re planning on using in-place upgrade. This insight is invaluable and is NOT the same as what you??ll get out of stsadm ??o preupgradecheck. This stated, the official workflow to upgrade Esri Maps for SharePoint should be able to upgrade MS SharePoint first and then upgrade to Esri Maps for SharePoint 2013 3.0.x. I hope this answered the inquiry

Check in the task manager to make sure that all the ArcGIS server processes are running. You should have processes like these below after an install for server 10.1 or 10.2 -ArcGISServer.exe -cmd.exe -rmid.exe -javaw.exe If you do not have these then look into the windows services and see the ArcGIS server service is started. There is a possibility that the service is not running To get to the services Start > Run > Type services.msc in the run window and press enter. This should open the windows services to see all. If the service is running, it is possible that there could be a port conflict. check and see if you have anything running on port 6080. To check if the port is being used or not from the command line type the syntax below netstat -ao | findstr "LISTENING" | findstr "6080" You might also want to check with other browsers to see if the results are different If all the above does not correct the issue, I recommend that you reach out to Esri support services for assistance. Good luck

We need more information to best answer this inquiry. That stated, if you are looking for redundancy then using an NLB for high availability is the way to go. You can have passive/active configuration as per your organizational needs. Take a look at the link below, there is a section for high availability configurations. http://wiki.gis.com/wiki/index.php/GIS_Product_Architecture I recommend that you log a support call with Esri support services so that you can discuss this inquiry with a specialist for a definite answer. I hope this information is helpful.

Has anyone successfully upgraded from 10.1 to 10.2 on AWS manually? Not using Cloud builder? In the manual if not using cloud builder it advises doing a "update directly" I checked with Esri and they said yeh, upgrading using the 10.2 software like any other non cloud non AMI setup was the way to go. It hasn't worked, it's not functioning, there is a windows service called arcgis running but I can't contact it or manager. The log kicks out "Failed to unregister Amazon EC2 instance from the site", any ideas appreciated. - Dan Yes, upgrading the ArcGIS server instance which was created from the AWS directly is possible. Run the 10.2 install on top of the 10.1 SP1 install. Before upgrading: You need to know the arcgis service account password As soon as the upgrade is complete, you will notice that the server name changed to ??LOCALHOST? and the machine will not start automatically. To correct the issue 1 Open Site admin of http://localhost:6080/arcgis/admin in a browser; Login to Site admin; 2 Click on machines --> rename Machine name: is "LOCALHOST"; In "New machine name", enter the private IP of the instance. Ex. 10.233.15.141. You can find this value by typing "ipconfig" in a command line window. The IPv4 Address is the private IP. User can also get this value in AWS console by clicking on the instance and getting the "Private IPs" value; 3 Click on "Rename"; 4 Re-start ArcGIS Server Windows service. You should be able to login to ArcGIS server manager or REST 10.2 and see all the existing services. I hope this information is helpful. NOTE: The issue where the hostname changes to LOCALHOST is a known issue. NIM094625

Username and password are case-sensitive, so make sure you have the correct case. Also, make sure you can log in using a browser to be sure the password you remember is correct. Another thing to check is that you are a member of an organization. Are you using the ArcGIS for Portal web adaptor? If so this could be the problem, there was an issue where if Portal for ArcGIS is restarted, then the web adaptor would break. The login to Operation Dashboard would fails in this case especially if you are using built-in security for ArcGIS server. The solution is to re-run the Portal for ArcGIS web adaptor configuration. I hope this is the issue you are facing.

There are a few steps that you have to go through: 1- Your REST end point will need to be accessible from outside your organization in order for users to access from ArcGIS online. 2- You will have to add the secured services that you want to access on ArcGIS online as a new item. As soon as you hit the tab key, after entering the secured service URL, you will be prompted to enter the username/password that has access to the resource you want to share. Note: You have an option to choose "Store credentials with service item.Do not prompt for authentication." 3- Check this option and then also add any tags if you want to. You will see a new URL for you map that looks something like "http://utility.arcgis.om/....." after the item addition is complete. 4- Click on the "Share" tab and choose the group that you want to grant access to this resource. The assumption here is that the users that you want to access this resource from ArcGIS Online are part of this group. 5- Have the users test the service. Outside these instructions, then the users will pretty much always be prompted for credentials I hope this answered your inquiry. Good luck,

Hmm! Sorry about the inconveniences caused with this. You are right shipping should not take that long. Have you by any chance spoke to the account representative for the organization you work for? Usually they are pretty good at shipping and responding to clients. Also, have you tried to download the BA data 2012 from the customer care portal and this failed? This might be the quickest way to get the install files to you if you can access the portal. You can access it from this link below: https://customers.esri.com/ You will be prompted to enter your global username/password NOTE If global account is not yet linked to this page, then you will not be able to access it. If you have already done this and got no positive results, then please contact support services and they will engage customer service on your behalf. Contact information: To contact Esri Technical Support (USA only): Tel: (888)377-4575 | E-mail: support@esri.com Hours of Operation: 5AM-5PM (PT) Monday-Friday The Online Support Center http://support.esri.com I hope this information is helpful.
