I am working on a web app on AGOL that will allow (hopefully) users to calculate the amount of water required to irrigate the landscapes on their properties. I've successfully uploaded aerial imagery through a map service and created a feature service where users can create features and assign a plant type to them using a drop down menu (turf, trees, pools, xeriscape). I am having trouble with the final 2 pieces though. Once the feature is created and the plant type is chosen, I need the area to be calculated and displayed, ideally in the pop up along with the other attributes. Then the real tricky part. I have a series of simple calculations that have to be performed based on the area and plant type that produce the actual irrigation requirement. I understand I will have to do this through an API, most likely javascript. I am a novice when it comes to web development and my javascript skills are very miniscule. If anyone has any experience with A) displaying the area of a feature in a feature service, and B) embedding code to perform custom calculations, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a good weekend, Will

Well I actually figured out that particular problem. It turned out that the drive I was using as the staging folder to publish the service had low disk space. Once I changed the staging folder into a drive with more memory, I was able to publish the imagery and load it into a map in ArcGIS Online. Thanks for your responses though! Will

I figured out I had the same problem as Rob. The drive where my staging folder was located had low disk space so it wouldn't work. I changed the location of the staging folder to a drive with more space and it worked. You can do this in desktop by clicking Customize > ArcMap options > Sharing. There it lets you choose the location of the staging folder. I think it works best when the folder path is short so I just used F:/Temp and it published from then on.

Hi Joanne, Thanks for your response. The raster is a .ECW and is 4.6 GB. The service editor warned me that the .ecw might experience performance issues, but in the preview it seemed ok. All of the options in the parameters tab were greyed out in the service editor so I left them as such: Anti aliasing - best Text anti aliasing - force Maximum number of records returned by the server - 1000 I ran the Package tool in the Data Management toolbox and it was able to successfully consolidate. Thanks again for you help. Will

I'm trying to publish an mxd as a mapping service onto ArcGIS Online and keep getting Error 001270: Consolidating the data failed. The mxd contains only a raster dataset. I want to use the imagery contained in the raster as a basemap in ArcGIS online. I looked up the error in the ArcGIS resource center and tried to shorten all the path names, like it suggested but I get the same error. I also tried publishing it from a geodatabase and from a folder, with no success. Is there a different method for publishing imagery to use as a basemap in ArcGIS online I should be using? Thanks for any insight and help. Will

I've been getting the same error message when trying to publish a map service from an mxd onto ArcGIS Online. The mxd only contains a raster dataset from a GDB. I've tried shortening the path names, as is suggest in the help topic but I still can't get it to work. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Will
