Hello, I recently called ESRI Customer Support to talk to them regarding an issue we had on a previous deployment of ArcGIS For Server 10.2. The scenario was that there would be two GIS Server machines and GISMACHINE1 would have no additional extensions enabled while GISMACHINE2 would have a couple other extensions licensed (3D for Server, Wokflow Manager whatever). This was done primarily with the thought of decreasing overall costs as well as load balancing. We created a GIS SITE on GISMACHINE1 and added GISMACHINE2 to the same site, in the same cluster. We experienced errors and tried to move GISMACHINE2 to its own cluster but we still had errors when trying to send extension-specific requests to the site. We ended up having to create two GIS Sites, one for each machine, and routed requests manually at the program level. I contacted ESRI regarding this and they agreed with our findings: All machines participating in the same GIS Site need to have the same extensions licensed in order for it to work correctly. Has anyone had supporting experiences to this or different findings? Would be appreciated to know either way. Thanks! -Paul Bushore

Hey Steve, Will look at it more closely later, but I like the layout of the map. One thing I noticed is that I am able to create multiple graphic search boxes. Once you place one down, you can place another, then another etc. I do not know if this is by design or not, but thought I would bring it up. Best wishes!

Hello, FYI, I was able to download and loaded the app in Visual Web Developer Express 2010 and it came up in Firefox 17.0.1. I was able to use the drop-down to fire the floating panels and I was then able to resize the bookmark panel. I was also able to use the Map Options floating panel as well and interact with the panes within that one. When I opened up the instance of the page in IE 8. I could bring up both of the floating panes again, but when I moved them then tried to resize, they reverted back to their original size and location...go go IE. Just thought I would give this feedback. Only wish IE was better with dealing with it 🙂 Thanks for providing your information Ben!

Regarding your first question about a return causing a search. I gleaned this from a StackExchange post sometime. It sets a javascript function that determines if the key being pressed is the return key. If it is, it fires the button's click event. There may be better was of doing this though.
<script>
function searchOnReturn(e) {
if (typeof e == 'undefined' && window.event) {
e = window.event;
}
if (e.keyCode == 13) {
dojo.byId('btnOwnerSearch').click();
}
}
</script>
Owner name:<input type="text" id="ownerName" size="60" value="Katz" onkeypress="searchOnReturn(event);"/>
Hope this helps!

Hello, We have had issues with the user that is the arcgis admin account does not have local logon permissions after a reboot because group policy is applied. This prevents it from being able to start the services. We ended up creating an active domain account for the admin account and this hasn't happened again. Sounds like you got a different answer from support though. Best wishes!

Sorry, deleted my post that Jeff is responding to, but I think his post still makes sense and is the likely culprit.

I took a look of the export image rest endpoint in FireBug and the image is looking for http://stewart:8014/arcgisoutput/_ags_mapf26fc697a31a424091c2ece250c62d5e.png Looks like they have an internal reference rather than a fully qualified domain maybe or is this what you would expect to see with the new version of arcgis 10?

Hello, Unless you break your data out in to ... parks with slides, parks with picnic tables etc. as individual layers you are probably going to have to go under the hood a bit and figure out about definition queries. That way, when a person clicks a radio button or checkbox etc that value gets added to the definition query to add that type. At first the definition query would be something simple like FID >1 then when a person clicks the picnic table checkbox it would append "AND picnicfield is not null" etc. There is a sample that uses definition queries here: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/help/jssamples/fl_layer_definition.html Of course, your attribute table of the parks will need to have the specific fields in there detailing what amenities are located at each park. I haven't perused the ArcGIS Online Map that mcdade31 mentioned, but it is also worth a look. Hope this helps!

Hello, Mirroring some of the other comments, I think finding some way to compartmentalize the list of POIs is going to be your best bet. In the root MXD/MSD you could have layers in the map made up of definition queries/query layer/arcsde view that would group certain of the POIs and then they would appear grouped that way in the TOC, allowing people to turn them off or not. Subsequently, you could have an additional field in the POI feature class that then allows them to be subset even further through an in-application setting of a definition query on the particular layer. Don't know what it would do to performance, but the marrying of the two methods may work. Take care,

Just took a quick look and make a call to <scripttype="text/javascript" src="js/date.js?1"></script> I couldn't find a js/date.js?1 but I did find a http://map.toronto.ca/maps/js/date.js file. Could that path be wrong? Seems all your other calls reference the /maps directory. Edit: Looked at the paths for js/GC* files and all of them allow me to access the files when I nest them in the /maps directory. Hope it helps, kind of a novice with all this.

Hello, if I understand you correctly, you should be able to use the method for feature layers: featureLayer.setDefinitionExpression("STATE_NAME = 'South Carolina'"); Hope that gets you started, you can learn more from the API Reference: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/help/jsapi_start.htm Best wishes! Hrmm the more I think about this, the more I think that he is looking to set the definition query based on a joined/related record rather than the base layer information. I am not certain if the definition query based on a join/related record is supported, may be, but not certain.

Hello, If you had a function that loaded the 9 services, you could have the showloading function fire prior to the load then have an onLayerAdd event listener on the map that would check if the layer being added matches the last layer of your 9 services. Once it matches you would then fire the hideloading. I might try to add some code to describe a bit more clearly. Here is a snippet: dojo.connect(map, "onLayerAdd", function (layer) { console.log(layer.url + " added"); }); This would give you the url of the layer. Best wishes,

Hello, I don't know if this will work for your item, but with most elements you can assign an id to it. For your particular item: [HTML]<table> <tr> <td id="myTD"> innerHTML </td> </tr> </table>[/HTML] Then you can have a function find the element by id and set the innerhtml dojo.byId("myTD").innerHTML = "whatever"; I think this would work. Best wishes!

Hello, I took a quick look and it appears that when you construct your point you might have a typo. You are passing Lat(y) Lng(x) when the constructor takes x then y. I replaced your point constructor with the following code and it appears to work. Please try and let us know. newPoint = new esri.geometry.Point(Lng, Lat, new esri.SpatialReference({ wkid: 4326 })); Best wishes,

Hello, From what I can see, the mapservice you are using there isn't actually a dynamic map service even though you are adding it as one. The URL: http://server.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Specialty/Soil_Survey_Map/MapServer shows under the "Single Fused Map Cache" header that it is true, indicating that the map is cached, which I believe means that you cannot adjust the visibility of the layers. I added my own dynamic map to the code you provided and it removed the map layers as well. I would check that the map you are trying to add is really dynamic and not a fused cache. Hope this helps!
