Hi, I am trying to get the list of layers available on TOC in ArcGlobe. It seems quite simple to do on ArcMap but I have never customized ArcGlobe before and don't understand the interface and related libraries. Any help would be much appreciated. I am trying to do this .NET but if is possible in Python even that would be great. Again, any help would be much appreciated. Regards, Priyanka

Actually I am trying to automate the workflow of finding closest facility in a network dataset, mostly following help file. This is my work flow 1) Make Closest Facility Layer - arcpy.MakeClosestFacilityLayer_na 2) Add Facility Locations - arcpy.AddLocations_na 3) Add Incident Locations - arcpy.AddLocations_na 4) Solve - arcpy.Solve_na 5) Save to Layer File - arcpy.management.SaveToLayerFile This flow creates a layer file as first output itself (the one that I am trying to export as a feature class - "Closest_NationalParks_Facility"). I do not know a way of avoiding layer creation at the first place for closest facility analysis. Please let me know if there is another way of doing it.

Hi, How should I export route layer that is a part of closest facility layer. It works with the model builder if I use "Select Data" followed by Copy Features but if I even save that model builder as python script , it does not work. This is the exported python script from model builder
# Local variables:
Closest_NationalParks_Facility = "Closest_NationalParks_Facility"
Routes__2_ = "C:\\Projects\\RAFT\\Closest_NationalParks_Punggol\\Routes"
CFRoutes_CopyFeatures = "C:\\Users\\mehtap\\Documents\\ArcGIS\\Default.gdb\\CFRoutes_CopyFeatures"
# Process: Select Data
arcpy.SelectData_management(Closest_NationalParks_Facility, "Routes")
# Process: Copy Features
arcpy.CopyFeatures_management(Routes__2_, CFRoutes_CopyFeatures, "", "0", "0", "0") It does not recognize Closest_NationalParks_Facility as a dataset at the first place and gives this error "ERROR 000732: Input Data Element: Dataset Closest_NationalParks_Facility does not exist or is not supported" I tried modifying it by adding ".lyr" to the input. It can do select data with that but still not copy features. # Local variables:
Closest_NationalParks_Facility = "C:\\Projects\\RAFT\\Closest_NationalParks_Facility.lyr"
CFRoutes_CopyFeatures = "C:\\Users\\mehtap\\Documents\\ArcGIS\\Default.gdb\\CFRoutes_CopyFeatures2"
# Process: Select Data
sel = arcpy.SelectData_management(Closest_NationalParks_Facility, "Routes")
# Process: Copy Features
arcpy.CopyFeatures_management(sel, CFRoutes_CopyFeatures, "", "0", "0", "0") "sel" returns : >>> sel
<Result 'C:\\Projects\\RAFT\\Closest_NationalParks_Facility.lyr\\Closest_NationalParks_Facility\\Routes'> I cannot understand how to make "Routes" sub layer be recognized or anyhow export Route layer to geodatabase. Regards, Priyanka Mehta

Thank you ! You are right about network analyst being a much powerful and stable extension for production environment. Its a good idea to use the closest facility (or 3-4 closest facilities) for reducing processing time and effort if I want to loop through all destination and sources (and avoid using the extension). Thanks for your suggestion ! Best Regards

One of the most useful blogs that I came across. Thank you for posting it ! Can you please suggest some method of modifying this code for taking multiple source and multiple destination points.. similar to how the closest facility works.

Thanks for the suggestions but nothing worked. accdb format MS Access table could not be brought to the geodatabase or layer view directly. i dont know if it was the best method but I finally ended up creating a new empty table in geodatabase and inserting the values from access table to geodatabase and using that for joining. I used the insert cursor procedure and made a replica of my Access table in geodatabase. Thanks for the suggestions ! Priyanka

I am using Pyodbc to connect to access database
import pyodbc, arcgisscripting,arcpy
arcpy = arcgisscripting.create(10.1)
arcpy.overwriteoutput = 1
conn = pyodbc.connect(("Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb, *.accdb)};"
"DBQ=C:\Projects\ProjectDatabases\MIA\PrimaryDatabase.accdb;"))
cursor = conn.cursor()
InputTransport = "C:\ProjectDatabases\GIS\SIWW_Data_Display.gdb"
def TransportationAccess(accdbtable1,gdbfeat1):
cursor.execute("delete * from " + accdbtable1) #clear table
#join Trans_NodeTypeDetails from geodatabase to Acces_Trans_NodeTypeDetails. Join fields NodeType and Stations
arcpy.joinfield_management((InputTransport+"\\"+gdbfeat1),"NodeType",accdbtable1,"NodeType","Stations")
TransportationAccess("Access_Trans_NodeTypeDetails", "Nodes")
Feature class in geodatabase (gdbfeat1 in code) is "Nodes" Table in MS Access(accdbtable1) is "Access_Trans_NodeTypeDetails" I am trying to join these two tables. and I get this error saying "Access_Trans_NodeTypeDetails" does not exist. It is the same same table that it is clearing in the previous line. this is the error that I get arcgisscripting.ExecuteError: Failed to execute. Parameters are not valid.
ERROR 000732: Join Table: Dataset Access_Trans_NodeTypeDetails does not exist or is not supported
Failed to execute (JoinField). Thanks, Priyanka

Hi, I am trying to join fields from a feature class in geodatabase to a field in MS Access database. This statement used to work fine for 2003 format of ms access but for 2007 format it gives an error gp.JoinField_management(gdbfeat1,"gdbField1",accdbtable1,"accField1","accField2") arcgisscripting.ExecuteError: Failed to execute. Parameters are not valid.
ERROR 000732: Join Table: Dataset tablexxx does not exist or is not supported although it clearly exists and it is being able to do execute other statements like cursor.execute("delete * from " + accdbtable1) which is inside the same loop. Can somebody please point how should I join fields from geodatbase table to ms access table. Thanks in advance, Priyanka

Hi Matt, Thanks for your help. The code is doing very well on making all the sides' widths very easy to adjust and I can also control the border by changing object.front from NIL to Garten kind of thing(like in helpfile) But looking at the code I suspect it is meant to do a lot more. What is "envelope" meant to do ? It gives a warning there and I supressed it by "dot". But I suspect that its because of the envelope function that I am not being able to see what is building volume and building area function doing Thanks a lot for your help till now Regards, Priyanka

Thanks again Matt, I am using CityEngine 2011 and I modified the selectors. I am almost getting what I was expecting although, the code gives warning on envelope saying "undefined rule". How should I handle envelope rule ? Lot -->
case !Show_Shell: NIL else:
set(lotArea,geometry.area())
setback(Front_Yard_Depth) {object.front: NIL | remainder:
setback(Rear_Yard_Depth) { object.back: NIL | remainder:
setback(Side_Yard_Width) { object.left: NIL | remainder:
#setback (Right_Yard_Width) {object.right:NIL | remainder:
BuildableArea
}
}
}
Thanks, Priyanka

Hi Thanks for the reply Matthias, I was trying the sample code that you replied. It gives an error for "no function for street.front" and since I am quite new to CGA, its difficult for me to debug. I am checking on setback examples in help contents and they seem useful. Thanks for the guidance. It will be a great help if you can resend me the example code with street.front/back function also included in the code. Also, I saw your thread for tutorial helps for city engine. Are there any more tutorials especially CGA rule related that have been updated recently especially with more examples. Thanks, Priyank
