Hi, We are hosting tiled layers on ArcGIS Online to be used in our web applications. Recently we have noticed that some of the requests occasionally return 404 errors. There are 6 addresses (that I know of) for the tile servers that can be used to access the tiles: tiles[{1-5}].arcgis.com/... . Last week we have noticed this on tiles.arcgis.com, today it's tiles5.arcgis.com. Roughly every fifth request returns 404 error. In the attachemt, there's a screenshot showing how the 404 response looks like. The problem is similar to: Feature Service - Error 503: Service Unavailable but the error code is now 404 and i think it only applies to the tile servers. Regards, Jakub Malec

Dear ESRI Devs, When the ArcGIS Online Map (http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html ) is in Web Mercator projection (EPSG:3857), I can add tiled layers (Add -> Add Layer From Web -> A Tile Layer) without any problems. But when the Map is in another projection, let's say EPSG:2180, then every time I try to add a tile layer there's an error: The tile layer, http://some_service_url, can't be added to the map because it does not support a coordinate system or tiling scheme that aligns with the basemap. I understand why the error is displaying (the projection is other that Web Mercator), but the error message itself is not true, because: 1. There's no possible way to check if spatial reference and tiling scheme of that kind of layer is same as the basemap's 2. That kind of layer can always be added to the map with assumption that it's tiling scheme is same as the basemap, but when it's not, it will display incorrectly. It would be very useful for me and my team if we could add Tile Layers in non-standard projections. I know that very few people will benefit from this so I fully understand if you decide not to implement this functionality but it would be nice Regards, Jakub Malec

Hi, When someone is trying to open a GeoForm application that is hosted on arcgis.com (GeoForm) and is connecting from some location in Poland, the app won't load (freeze at the loading screen), because the JavaScript returns an error 404, saying that polish translation file could not be found. (http://www.arcgis.com/apps/GeoForm/js/nls/pl/resources.js). In the github repo of the project, this file is present and when hosted locally, the app works good.

I'm using nliu's GoogleMapsLayer with ArcGIS v.3.9 api. I think I had some problems with getting it to work and don't remember if I had to modify the layer's source code so I'm attaching the GoogleMapsLayer I'm using to this post. Here is the documentation: http://gmaps-utility-gis.googlecode.com/svn/tags/agsjs/1.05/docs/googlemapslayer/ Remember to add the package to your dojoConfig var. Also remember that the map's spatial reference has to be Web Mercator (auxiliary sphere) - EPSG 3857 / 102100, otherwise the layer won't work. Example for layer instantiation: require(["agsjs/layers/GoogleMapsLayer"], function(GoogleMapsLayer){ var googleLayer = new GoogleMapsLayer({ apiOptions: { v: '3.16' }, mapOptions: { mapTypeId: "roadmap", streetViewControl: false } }); googleLayer.id = "googleLayer"; map.addLayer(googleLayer); });

The Web Adaptor just filters and forwards all the requests to the arcgis server which operates on its own port (6080 in your case). So, the AGS still needs to operate on its own port. People can access all your data through the Web Adaptor, except for the AGS' admin directory (Web Adaptor just filters out requests going to AGS admin directory). What you can do is deny any incomming traffic to port 6080 on your firewall (leaving the ability to access AGS on port 6080 only from localhost).

A1: ArcGIS Server has CORS setup by default and accepts any origin. A2: You should consider using ArcGIS Web adaptor. Then you could have both ArcGIS Server and Web apps on the same port + the real AGS hostname is hidden from the public. You also could, of course do nothing about it and leave it as is and it'll work fine ;]

Hi, About 6 days ago we have noticed, that there is an issue with some of our Feature Services hosted on ArcGIS Online. What's happening is that roughly every tenth request to the service returns a 503 error (service unavailable). Here are two of the services affected: http://services1.arcgis.com/mQcAehnytds8jMvo/arcgis/rest/services/Roztocze/FeatureServer http://services1.arcgis.com/mQcAehnytds8jMvo/arcgis/rest/services/powiatlubartowski/FeatureServer They are not publicly accessible, but our Flex apps use them through App logins (https://developers.arcgis.com/authentication/app-logins.html) The problem can by reproduced by simply refreshing the service page several times using CTRL + F5 until it throws an error. We've made sure that the problem isn't only for our Network. In fact I've tested the service from remote servers based in different countries (including US). Our applications that use those layers, can't load 1/10th of them, 1/10th of queries fail and our app users don't like all of those error messages :/. We would be glad if anyone here could look into this issue. Regards, Jakub Malec

ArcGIS Javascript API is build on top of Dojo. You can use Dojo's internationalization module (i18n). Here's how to use it: http://dojotoolkit.org/reference-guide/1.9/dojo/i18n.html You could, of course use some other js framework, it's up to You.

Documentation says: The features are retrieved once the feature layer is added to the map. After the onUpdateEnd event has fired If you want to get features from current extent, you need to initialize the layer in MODE_ONDEMAND mode. If you want to get all features, you need to set the mode to MODE_SNAPSHOT (but it will return no more than the default total of 1000 features). Well, when you send a request to a service, then one instance of a service is used to process the request (getting data from a database, processing, returning the final result). If some request is being processed by one instance and there is another request incoming, then another instance is being used to process it (if there are no more instances available, the request is being put in queue). 3 to 4 seconds seems a lot, perhaps your ArcGIS Server or Database server is overloaded? In looking at log file, I can see that the server is being queried 10 times. Why would the server be queried 10 times for a very simple map service with 4 points? Can't tell if you won't share the Javascript application's source code and your MapService details.

Hi, The ArcGIS documentation says that Feature Service doesn't support group layers. Also, when publishing a service using ArcGIS Desktop, the group layers are being ignored. BUT since ArcGIS Server 10.2 (or 10.2.1), when we request some FeatureServer's information in json format using ArcGIS Server REST API, we can see that layers have "parentLayerId" and "subLayerIds" fields, just like in the MapServer. Some random example: http://services.arcgis.com/DO4gTjwJVIJ7O9Ca/arcgis/rest/services/CO%20Flood%202013%20Enriched%20Government%20Units%20-%20Incorporated%20Place%20%28Filter%29/FeatureServer/?f=json So my question is: Is it possible to, somehow, publish a Feature Service with group layers?

The API itself doesn't require any key to use. You just need to include the javascript from here: http://js.arcgis.com/3.8/ . The client id and secret key are needed only if you have some non-public or non-shared resources on your ArcGIS online account which you want to access by your application.

All you need to do is to count how many graphics are present on the layer each time you change the extent. To be able to do that, you have to initialize your FeatureLayer with mode set to MODE_ONDEMAND - it will get all features from current extent on every extent change. Then, you need to listen to "update-end" event on the layer. Each time the event fires, you can fill your counter's innerHTML with following value: yourFeatureLayerVar.graphics.length;

Your proxy error says that your curl extension for PHP is not enabled (curl is a library used for making http requests). To enable it, you simply need to uncomment "extension=php_curl.dll" (removing the ";" in the beginning) line in your php.ini file which is located in your PHP directory. Also, remember to edit your proxy.php file and add approporiate hosts to the $serverUrls array or set the $mustMatch variable to false (not recommended).
