I think you can edit the KML file in Google Earth then Save KML and Update your map.

I noticed that other REST queries accept &geometryType= I guess it is possible that buffer accepts multiple geometry types (eg point and polygon) in the same call - that is so it should be documented along with samples that work. If it only accepts one type the &geometryType= should probably be supported as it is in many other calls. I think the doc currently states the the geometry required is the same as that returned via JSON. This is not the case when looking at the returns from a simple query. If there are specific services that return the patterns required it would be useful to document those so we can quickly learn what the the required pattern looks like.

Thanks! Docs don't state/document how to add geom type. Nor do they document WKID needed. ESRI needs to invest some in tech writers that know what they are doing. I recognize the problem - they have technical writers that are writers and but not technical.

I'm using the REST HTML forms to create queries. Many services accept Geometries. The docs state the "geometry" returned from other REST queries is the format to use however I cannot find any JSON string that works. I'm just copying the element from a json return e.g. {"rings":[[[5773777.49661869,2289563.95264293],[5773653.87350635,2289764.94666351],[5774526.1384941,2290309.87142669],[5774648.57525711,2290113.75075594],[5773777.49661869,2289563.95264293]]]} I used the WKID from the metadata for the layer in all spatial refernce fields (2229) and 1000 as the distance. I get an error Unspecified property: 'geometryType' What's wrong? Could someone post a working buffer query using a polygon as the input geometry? thanks!

Idenify is not Query - they are two different beasts as far as I can tell. not all of my resources support Find (maybe they do and the \services\.. don't doument that fact.) Plus the Find link you provided is to reference material which does not describe how to use the form(s.) I'd need to know how to use the Query form's Filter Geometry. I figured out the point in polygon problem. I'm now seeking a solution to finding a centroid using the REST query or some low level service that does not need to be published.

I'm new to the REST Services and I'm trying to learn how to use the Query form. Any help searches I do on the net turn up reference material that assumes you already know how to do things like construct a Spatial Filter. Is there a User's Guide (not a reference) that explains how to use all the features on the Query form? For example I'd like to find an object under a lat/long point. How do I do that? And the inverse - can I find the centroid of found objects?

In the "Project" window, expand the "libs" directory, right-click on the .swc file (the Flex API), and click the "Add to Library" menu item. You will also have to change all the references to the image files as noted in another post. I'm a couple of steps ahead of you...I can get the project to compile, but when I run it, it's missing an xml file for the Widget Container. If I figure out that error, I'll update this post or start a new thread. Very helpful - did you find the problem with the misplaced config.xml? In Flash Develop how do you do a global search/replace? I can only get it to work on one file at a time. Thanks! Here's the flash error: Could not find file:///C:/DevFlash/flexviewer-2.3.1-src/bin-debug/widgets/WidgetContainer/config.xml Fault code: Server.Error.Request Fault info: HTTP request error Fault details: Error: [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2032: Stream Error. 1500 ArcGISExplorerDataAccessDownload (happened on previous version too) on Vista 32 Business I installed 1500 and it is running fine. I tried to install the Data Access module so I can access some local server resources. After the first setup screen I get an error: Installation ended prematurely because of an error. No clue as to what the error is but setup just exits. The PC is used for development and may have some old ESRI stuff lying (SDK's etc.) about - I've deleted all I've found in Programs and Features. ArcGIS 10 is installed but the install of the 1200 DataAccess failed before ArcGIS 10 was installed. Any idea on how to isolate what is causing Setup to die?

From ArcMap 10 I used Create layer Package... and picked Upload Package to my ArcGIS Online Account. The progess dialog seemed to say the upload went OK. I can't find the name of the package from search 'SLOAPCD_Processes' on http://explorer.arcgis.com/ The package was marked Public and it was sent up several hours ago. Should I be able to find the package via the on-line explorer? How do I manage my uploaded content? Thanks!

I can connect to our geodatabase SQL server OK from ArcCatalog but when I use the same Server/Service(sde:sqlserver:<serverName>)/Database/Authentication parameters from ArcExplorer 1200 I get a "failed to connect" message. I have the ArcGISExplorerDataAccessDownload pack installed although I don't see any difference from a macine with or without the pack installed. Is there something that needs to be done on the server side to allow access from ArcExplorer? What else may be wrong?
