Hi Josphat! I am now going between ArcGIS Pro 2.4.3 and 2.3.2. After playing with it some more, I've noticed in 2.4.3 the field map will populate as the script is written currently, but only with the first feature it is given. If more than one feature is supplied for polygons, you have to click the Reset button to refresh the output fields. In 2.3.2 none of this happens. In 2.4.3: In 2.3.2:

Thanks Dan! Unfortunately that doesn't seem to work. When I change to derived, the Output Field Map parameter no longer shows up. I actually copied the script tool parameter setup from the merge tool to verify I had the correct settings for each (right-click Merge tool, then properties). I've started looking at python tool validation(Customizing tool behavior in a Python toolbox—Geoprocessing and Python | Documentation) and found another post that talks about this (arcgis 10.5 - Creating Field Mapping Parameter in Arcpy Script - Geographic Information Systems Stack Exchange ) I guess after looking into validation, I am wondering what the validation settings are for the Merge tool itself. When you look at it's properties, that does not show up. Creating this same tool in model builder works just fine so that tells me one of the tools, or model builder has built in validation somewhere.

Thanks for any and all replies in advance! I am trying to create python script tool that uses the merge tool but I am having issues getting the field map to show and populate as I add features. As of now, it won't even populate. However, if I recreate this using ModelBuilder, it works as intended. I am starting to think I need to get into Tool Validation. Here is the part I am having issues with: import arcpy
#input features. Set output for merge
polygonsToUse = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(0)
mergedPolygons = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(1)
#get field map so user can remove unneccessary fields
fieldMap = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(2)
#merge polygons
arcpy.Merge(polygonsToUse,mergedPolygons,fieldMap) and here is a screenshot of my script tool parameter setup: Thank you!

Hey guys, I have created a model that I would like to run as a batch. When I enter the output path for the first row, it greys out the rest. Why is this?' Below is what my model looks like:

I have been tinkering with a network I created and generating service areas. Comparing it to ESRI generated service areas (using ArcGIS Online) for the same point shows a drastically different service area. So I started looking up network dataset tutorials. Most of these show you how to create a network, but not what a fully functional and accurate one actually has in terms of data (roads, rails, bus stops, stop signs, traffic signals....etc). So my main question is, what data should I have in my dataset and what would the network settings look like? My secondary question, is what features and settings does the ESRI network contain? Thanks!

Thanks guys! I figured it out! I followed this guide where it says your SQL Server database login username and schema have to have the same name. After I created a schema with the same name as my login, I was able to use the Copy Features tool. Now as a bonus question, do I need to have an Enterprise license to allow ArcMap to edit these SQL Server tables? Thanks again!

Thanks again guys! I just tried the copy features tool and it gives me error 000210. DBMS table not found, Attribute column not found. I checked my roles in SQL Server 2008, and I am listed as db_datareader, db_datawriter, db_ddladmin, db_owner, and public.

Thanks Joshua! I have used Shape2SQL but it doesn't seem to like shapefiles with too many features. The file I am trying to convert to SQL Server has around 40,000 features and when I try to use Shape2SQL, it seems to finish but the table is nowhere to be found in the SQL database. I should also note that I do not have administrator rights on my machine nor is my SQL Server database enterprise enabled. So regarding the WKT, could I calculate the WKT for each feature in a DBF table instead of a feature to get around the shapefile limit? Thanks!

Thanks for any help! I'm relatively new to ArcPy and saw that there is a way to return the WKT of a polygon via SHAPE@WKT but am unsure how to use this. My main goal is to obtain the WKT for each feature in a shapefile, export the shapefile table with the WKT field, then import to SQL Server 2008 R2 using STGeomFromText. I found this on StackExchange but am a little lost on how to implement this over multiple features within a shapefile. Thanks!

Also I keep getting the following warning and the VRP will not solve: "Warning: Depots, Routes, Orders and Breaks contain time windows with dates but the DefaultDate value does not have a date. Error: Invalid input in the NA classes."

Hi Heather, Could I use collect events for our historical data and give an address with more than 1 event a weight equal to the number of events that happened there? This would cut down on the number of orders quite a bit but I would imagine it would still be tens of thousands of points. Thanks!

Thank you Heather! This gets the ball rolling! I would like to model 1 year worth of data which is close to 150,000 points. Would this be too much for VRP? Thanks!

Thanks in advance for all help. I am trying to create a model for adding staffing to certain fire stations and how that would change the possible response dynamics. I have looked into using VRP, but it looks much too complex for what I am after. We want to know that if we add an extra apparatus to a fire station, if that fire station would take more 911 calls then the surrounding ones. I want to use historical data and say, if we add this vehicle, it will add this many runs to that station while also relieving this many runs from the surrounding stations. So in relation to VRP, the "Depots" would be my fire stations while my "Orders" would be the 911 calls in the area. As for location-allocation, how would I model the capacities of each fire station? For instance, say one station has 2 trucks while all others have 1. The station with 2 trucks can respond to more events than those with one. How could I model this? Any ideas are much appreciated!
